mad.gif In the show the starter wife, there is a part when the guard is handing the keys to Molly and she says, "Bring the troops home from Iraq, take the Prius." My husband told me this and I could not believe it!! While I would love the idea of the troops coming home, your business is ENTERTAINMENT!!! You people need to stay out of the business of trying to input your opinion into the lives of Americans.

I am almost to the point of cutting out TV and movies all together. I HATE HOLLYWOOD AND ALL OF THOSE IN IT. Please quit thinking that your opinion on social issues matter to ME!! You are a bunch of HOllywood airheads and I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THE WAR NOR ABOUT THE PRESIDENT. Between the media coverage of the war and the Hollywood spin on it, the soldiers think that everyone over here is against the job that they are doing there. No matter how many times the liberals say, "but we support the troops." It does not matter, they still doing a job and are trying to keep OUR COUNTRY safe.

Do you get that there are terrorists over there and they are trying to get rid of them!!?? They will come home when the job is done!!!!!

First of all, the job will never be done. All we've done is create an even bigger mess and make people hate us even more. Seeing as you're obviously not a liberal, how do except to know what one is thinking? You don't.

It's just a tv show! If you except an unbiased and fair tv show then I really don't know what planet you're from.

This sentence says it all.

You can think what you want...you're free to your opinions. So why isn't the writer free to his/hers? You're mad because the writer thinks their opinions are important, well, if you didn't think your opinions were important then you wouldn't have made a flaming post like this, would you have? No. You think your opinion is important, and the writer thought their opinion was important. From where I stand, that makes you equals. Just because you don't agree with someone's opinion doesn't mean they don't have the right to state it.

as a conservative, i suppprt the war (while i think huge mistakes have been made). but i have to agree with yf, the entertainment industry has just as much right to free speech as joe citizen does, and as long as people are paying money(ie movie tickets, advertising dollars, etc) they are going to keep producing movies/shows that portray these views, if the money dried up so would the shows. if joe citizen doesn't like the views then turn the channel, bt don't say they don't have the right to produce the show, that's not what conservatives should be supprting

It is the right and responsibility of every US citizen to question and criticize our government. People in Hollywood have just as much right to their opinion as everyone else. Some people, my father included, think that entertainers should keep their political opinions to themselves and shouldn't use their celebrity to voice those opinions. I say why shouldn't they be able to use their celebrity? They are just as much a US citizen as you or I. It is absolutely their place to say something whether it is to their close friends or to the nation through a television show. Aside from that, it's not like the whole show is about bringing the troops home from Iraq (which I happen to hope for as my husband is actually there for a 15 month deployment) it was ONE line, that many people probably didn't even catch.

There will always be a terrorist threat despite how long we stay in Iraq or anywhere. The job will never be done, and I'd rather have people realize that sooner than later. There will always be people willing to die so they can kill many others. Even if we resolve things perfectly in Iraq there will be a threat somewhere else.

As much as I can understand what you're angry about, but what people are saying is correct.Just because someone is from Hollywood or they're in Hollywood doesn't mean they don't have the right to speak their minds as well. The only difference is the writers of this show choose to voice their opinions through a character. You on the other hand choose to voice your opinion on a message board. In the end there truly isn't much more importance between an opinion from a person from Hollywood than there is from someone in Texas(just a random pick). All in all I actually enjoy this show and just because some one said one thing you disagree with I hope you don't automatically judge the show by that.

Of course I support freedom of speech by anyone. I just do NOT want Hollywood inserting their propaganda. They have an agenda folks, they like it when liberals run things in Washington, their lives get easier. They are losing their footholds on our entertainment dollars and are desperate.

Don't be silly and think that I do not think that logical, fair debate on the war is okay. Sneaky, underhanded, slick-Willy tactics just agrivate me.

How sad. I think that it's very unfortunate that there are people in this country who watch CNN and believe that since the "news" is being reported from them, that it's unbiased and not without it's own agenda.
Even more pathetic is that someone would think that Hollywood is more prone to propagandism than our own government. Interesting to note that we are in a country in which our government has so much $ vested in oil...

I think the true reason that you were pertrubed is that an opinion unlike your own was voiced freely. On television. How dare someone disagree with the BUSH family reich?

Let's get to the heart of the matter here. If that same character had said "George W. Bush is my hero" (and actually meant it) you would not be here declaiming anybody's right to voice their opinion on a tv show. Perhaps you would even have put up a post about what a fantastic and responsible social statement this show makes. What you don't like is that an opinion was voiced that disagrees with your beliefs. Maybe even moreso because there is no "equal time" given to your side. Unfortunately, what you fail to realize is that in this instance it is not a debate or any sort of responsible journalism, it's a line in a script. If you really want to look at it critically, it's actually a fitting line. Chances are a young, low-income person would hold more liberal views than a successful, middle aged businessman. So it stands to reason that this particular character made this particular statement. Maybe on some future episode we'll see that Lou is a staunch conservative and he'll make his views known in some random one-liner (or as you would put it, "insert his propaganda"). If you are truly of the belief that all of Hollywood is out to brainwash you with liberal propaganda, by all means throw your television and radio out with the trash and live a happy, sheltered life. But don't think for a moment that you're going to inspire anyone (liberal or conservative) with an ounce of logic to follow you.

It is clear that you didn't pay attention in school, especially during American History and Civics class. Too bad, you are the type of American that believes it is appropiate to send troops to war based on lies. I encourage you to pick up a book and educate yourself. Learn the definition of facism, obstruction of justice and what values this country was founded upon.
