Expect WWE to book the upcoming edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event on June 2nd (that will be taped next Monday in Toronto) with tag matches that feature talent involved in the One Night Stand pay-per-view the very next night in Jacksonville, FL. There has been a lot of speculation on what direction WWE will take with One Night Stand considering that it is no longer an event to showcase ECW talent. You can still expect several hardcore style gimmick matches to be booked. As we saw on RAW last night that is the case with a “Falls Count Anywhere” match and a “Street Fight’ already being announced. More matches should be confirmed at tonight’s SmackDown/ECW tapings.
Axl
Both will be weak.

Anytime NBC puts SNME on at 11:30pm on a Saturday night, they are simply trying to burn off a contractual obligation to McMahon, and put it on, when they think no one will be watching.

'Cause let's be honest... who's watched "Saturday Night Live" in the last 15 years?
tnalockdownfan
Well I never liked Saturday Night Live and haven't watched the show in years, except sometimes for the Primetime Specials and that's about it.

Also, when Saturday Night's Main Event comes on Late Night the show will also be up against Mad TV for the very 1st time, and I also stopped watching Mad TV ever since I graduated from High School.

and I think that the reason they moved Saturday Night's Main Event back to Late Night is simply b/c they got poor ratings last year on Primetime (twice).

Well I think that WWE needs to get their act together and start putting more effort on their shows as well as quit giving people too many short matches.

I'm tnalockdownfan and that's my opinion.

Well see, that's the thing. SNME did not get low ratings compared to it's other shows. It averaged around 5-million viewers, which is decent ratings for SD on The CW & RAW on USA.

Problem is, that's horrid ratings for NBC, but I have never really seen why they are so scared by it, considering the fact they are a consistant 4th place network these days under CBS, Fox & ABC.

Either way, like I said. NBC is just burning this thing off when no one's watching.

I used to be a big "Mad TV" fan, but it ain't been funny for about five years. I stopped watching after like Season 7.
tnalockdownfan
Well the only thing that I like on NBC are Deal or No Deal, Law & Order: SVU, ER, and 1 vs. 100.

Plus, NBC needs to bring back those family sitcoms, I'm sick of Friends and Will & Grace.

Also, even when Mo Collins and Mad TV Original Debra Wilson left the show, THEN the show got horrible.

and BTW, Mad TV is produced by Quincy Jones who also produced The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air which is now on TBS, Nick @ Nite and The N and In the House w/LL Cool J which can been seen now on TV One.

and also, my favorite match from Saturday Night's Main Event would have to be Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff in a Cage Match from 20 years ago and to me THAT was THE match of Saturday Night's Main Event.

Yeah I knew about Quincy Jones. Kind of weird to think he is behind "Mad TV". Personally I think the show survived some what well after the departure of long time originals like Phil LaMarr & Nicole Sullivan. But when 'non-original' but fan favorites like Alex Borstein & Will Sasso left, it plummetted. When original Debra Wilson & fan favorite Aries Spears left, it became unbearably bad.

As for NBC, there's nothing I like on NBC. And the upcoming fall schedule has revealed nothing new on the horizon that's interesting at all. "ER" ain't bad, but I preferred it in it's glory days more, about seven years ago.

I used to like Dick Wolf back in his "Miami Vice" producing days, but "Law & Order"... i'm not saying it's necessarily 'bad', but man it puts me to sleep quicker than a glass of warm milk.
tnalockdownfan
Well Axl, I agree, I remember Dick Wolf from his Miami Vice days.

But back in the 80's which was during the Brandon Tartikoff Era, the only shows on NBC that I grew up watching were the following:

Family Ties, Fame, Cheers, Night Court, The Cosby Show, A Different World, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, Punky Brewster, The Golden Girls, Amen, 227, Hunter, Matlock, and even Game Shows like Sale of the Century, SCRABBLE, Wheel of Fortune, Super Password, Classic Concentration, Blockbusters, Wordplay, as well as Satruday Morning Shows such as Smurfs, Snorks, Alvin & The Chipmunks, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Fraggle Rock, and even Captain N: The Game Master.

But you're right, NBC has gotten dull lately, it's no wonder people switch to FOX, abc, and CBS, and also Cable TV, and on NBC, I use to watch the NBA on NBC and I always LOVED the theme to the series as well, and BTW the theme to the NBA on NBC was composed by John Tesh of Entertainment Tonight Fame.

and also, I know that it's kinda weird that Quincy Jones is still producing Mad TV which is based on the popular Mad Magazine, and he also produced another show based on a popular magazine called VIBE, and he's something else:

Quincy Jones also produced the 1997 film called STEEL Starring Shaquille O'Neal

and BTW, Fresh Prince, In the House, Mad TV, and STEEL are all owned by Warner Bros.

and Axl, I do agree, I liked ER when they had George Clooney, Anthony Edwards, Julianna Margalies and Eriq LaSalle, and BTW, that can be found on TNT.

But let me ask you all this:

Do you think that WWE made a good decision to bring back Saturday Night's Main Event?

Tell me what you all think of that.

Oh, and the only Primetime Game Show that I could NOT stand was The Weakest Link, I cannot STAND Anne Robinson.

and also, I don't even watch The Tonight Show or Late Night, I Haven't watcher Jay Leno lately but I can't stand Conan O'Brien, and I don't even watch The Late Show or The Late Late Show on CBS either.

Plus The Facts of Life to me was 10 times better than Saved by the Bell, I can't stand Dustin Diamond or Mario Lopez now, and also I like California Dreams, City Guys, and Hang Time better than Saved by the Bell and even One World.
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, no, I don't think it was a good thing to bring this show back. I like Jay Leno.

I like SVU. But for the most part NBC sucks. I don't like a whole lot of big time network television.

Alot of good shows you mentioned from the NBC 80's. Out of all of those shows you forgot one of the best though... "The A-Team". That was another great show.

Personally I actually supported the idea to bring back SNME, because at the time, I figured NBC really needed something on Saturday nights (some of us want an alternative to Cops & America's Most Wanted on Fox). NBC was in the dumps, and I felt it could help both parties. Vince would probably combine both RAW & SD, and book PPV like cards. Which is what happened at first.

But NBC wasn't happy and it all went downhill after two shows. All I can say, is on paper I thought it was a good idea. It just didn't turn out that way.

I'm not into game shows. Never have been, never will be. So I wasn't into the 'game show resurgence' a few years ago, when ABC had the hit "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" and NBC had "The Weakest Link".

I'm not big into late night shows either. Leno & Letterman aren't funny to me at all. Neither was Johnny Carson. Craig Ferguson & Carson Daly are jokes too. Occasionally if I do watch a late show, i'll watch either Late Night w/ Conan O'Brien or Jimmy Kimmel Live! Personally, I think Conan can be very funny at times. Other times, he bombs. But I guess that's just the nature of the biz.

"The Facts of Life" was indeed better than "Saved By The Bell". "Life" had more substance and complexity, and dealt with character development in a continual pattern. Whereas "Bell" seemed to just throw your favorite characters into crazy situations each week. But really there's no real comparison. "Life" was a top-rated primetime sitcom for nine years on NBC, whereas "Bell" was a Saturday morning show for kids, that aired for only half of that time. "Bell" actually originated on the Disney Channel in 1987 or so, under the name "Good Morning Miss Bliss". The show was cancelled, and then revived on NBC Saturday mornings with a new cast, only bringing back Mark-Paul Gosselar and Dustin Diamond, and the show was retitled "Saved By The Bell". Later on for syndication purposes, the original "Miss Bliss" first season was re-edited to feature the title "Saved By The Bell", and each episode featured an intro from Gosselar explaining the changes, and referring to it as a 'flashback' to when Zack was in middle school.

"Life" still remains one of my favorite comedies ever. Just a funny funny show, with touching moments, and really holds the test of time. The entire cast had great chemistry, and the show just seemed to get better. Not to say the early days weren't good, but I always found myself preferring the later shows. The comedy was a bit more adult, and when Cloris Leachman replaced Charlotte Rae, the show got even funnier. jmo

Personally i really don't like David Letterman. He got his ass handed to him by Bill Orielly. He gets to political for me. Same with John Stewart. Anyways i don't watch late night television on the on the three main network shows. I watch FX or a movie or something. And i was never a fan of Saved by The Bell.
tnalockdownfan
Oh Yes!

I do remember those action shows on NBC from the 80's:

The A-Team, Riptide, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and even my man HUNTER

Also, I was never a Saved by the Bell fan and I didn't even like The New Class either, it was a waste of time.

and BTW, Saved by the Bell was a popular Teen Sitcom in the early 90's, but they shold've let the show go, b/c The New Class was terrible and The College Years, well it was cool, but the last episodes w/Dean McMahon really killed it, and the only reason why it lasted 1 year on Primetime was b/c The College Years was up against Full House and Rescue 911 and the show couldn't pull through in the ratings and so that's why it got cancelled and Screech moved back to Satuday Mornings.

Also, does anybody remember these NBC Sitcoms from the 80's?

Diff'rent Strokes, The Cosby Show, A Different World, The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Punky Brewster (now that was a cute show BTW), and also Cheers and Family Ties.

and also, NBC was very popular on Saturday Mornings in the 80's, I mean they had some good shows as well and yes, I was also flipping channels to CBS and abc as well.

Byt anyway, NBC Saturday Morning had the following:
Smurfs, Shirt Tales, Snorks, Alvin & The Chipmunks, Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Fraggle Rock: The Animated Series, I'm Telling and also Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Captain N: The Game Master, and even The New Archies.

but in 1988-1989, I mostly watched CBS during that season b/c I was addicted to that Jingle Saturday Rocks on CBS.

Plus, does anybody remember the Cage Match from 20 years ago on Saturday Night's Main Event?

It was Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (now that was THE match of Saturday Night's Main Event.

How about that?

Oh and Axl, just so you know:

Back in the 80's the only thing that I would watch on Late Nights was Night Tracks on SuperStation WTBS and later TBS SuperStation, plus on Late Nights I would watch CBN (abc family), WGN (SuperStation WGN), and SuperStation WTBS/SuperStation TBS/TBS SuperStation and also TNT.

Back in the 80's i'd watch WGN alot for Cubs games. I also watched alot of USA because they showed tons of reruns of "Airwolf" & "Miami Vice". At one point, "Airwolf" actually became a USA show, and aired it's all new episodes on USA in 1987.

I never watched the spinoffs of "Bell".

Nothin' beats this guy...

TIMEtoPLAYtheGAME21
I actually like a couple shows on NBC. I like SVU and Heroes and I actually like their Thursday night line-up with My Name is Earl, The Office, Scrubs and 30 Rock. Those are pretty good shows IMO. Other than that its crap though.
tnalockdownfan
Axl, I agree w/you.

Nothin' beats HUNTER, and BTW I do have The Complete Second Season of HUNTER on DVD, and my man Fred Dryer along w/Stepfanie Kramer kicks major tail.

and also, I do remember Airwolf, I use to watch it on CBS and then the reruns on USA w/Jan-Michael Vincent, but I didn't care too much for the USA Version, it wasn't the same, and also Airwolf airs on Sci-Fi on some occasions, and also since Airwolf is owned by NBC-Universal along w/Miami Vice.

Also, Airwolf was a series from Donald P. Bellisario the co-creator of Magnum P.I. and the producer of Quantum Leap and JAG.

Well let me ask you all this:

Has anyone ever watched NBC Saturday Morning Cartoons such as
Smurfs, Snorks, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Gummi Bears, Spider-Man and even Fraggle Rock?

Plus, when I was growing up, the only Cable that I would watch were USA, Nickelodeon, The Disney Channel when it was in their prime, and also CBN, SuperStation WTBS later SuperStation TBS and also WGN.

Also, NBC back in the 80's was known as the Brandon Tartikoff Era, and I can still find some of the 80's NBC shows on DVD.

Now, when Saturday Night's Main Event 1st came out on NBC, Hulk Hogan was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and when the show ended in 1992 Bret Hart was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Now, when WWE brought the show back on NBC the RAW Main Event vs. SD! Main Event Handicap Match was OK, but the rest was just awful.

I mean the Divas Tag Team Match was TERRIBLE and the HBK vs. Shane O'Mac Street Fight was STUPID!
Slash
I used to watch different strokes, cheers and golden girls.
Bubba_Bridges

Hey guys, before I get back to the NBC shows of the 80's, listen to this:

Newwire.ca has revealed the following matches for this upcoming edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event:

- WWE Champion John Cena® and the 7-foot, 3-inch 420-pound titan The Great Khali™ squaring off in a prelude to the highly anticipated rematch for the WWE Championship at the "One Night Stand™" pay-per-view on Sunday, June 3rd.

- Batista™ and Chris Benoit® battle World Heavyweight Champion Edge® and United States Champion MVP™ in anticipation of title match showdowns at "One Night Stand."

- The WWE's strangest and smallest going head-to-head in a match that can only be seen to be believed.

Saturday Night's Main Event will be taped LIVE from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada on Monday, May 28, along with Monday Night RAW™. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster locations or by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca.

That's right, Saturday Night's Main Event and Monday Night RAW will be taped in Trish Stratus' hometown of Toronto, Ontario Canada.

How about that?

I'll bet that Trish Stratus will make an appearance in Canada @ either Monday Night RAW or Saturday Night's Main Event. LOL
Axl
Trish will not be making an appearence imo. She's trying to distance herself from the company right now.
tnalockdownfan
Well here's something:

Before she was on Sabrina goes to College, Soliel Moon Frye was Punky Brewster, now THAT was an awesome Comedy and it was BETTER than some of these new sitoms these days, and also, here's something else you didn't know:

There was a popular drama on NBC called Our House it had Wilford Brimley who now does Liberty Medical, Diedre Hall from Days of our Lives and Electra Woman and DynaGirl, Shannen Doherty from 90210 and Charmed, and Chad Allen.

Now THAT was some good drama that I use to watch w/my family on NBC, and also on FAM (abc family) and ACTS/Oddysey (Hallmark Channel).

Also, the only thing that I did not care for on NBC Daytime were those BORING Soap Operas, I mean everytime it comes on, I would always put my TV on USA, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel when it was in their prime, CBN (abc family), ACTS (Hallmark Channel), PBS, and of course WGN Chicago, and SuperStation WTBS/SuperStation TBS/TBS SuperStation.

How about that one?

you know,I happen to watch a soap opera and that is the best way to watch real drama. I respect your thinking there not good when really you all watch a soap opera watching wrestling...the storylines...all soap opera magic. wink.gif
Axl
I'm not into Soap Opera's, but I did like the prime time stuff like "Dallas".
tnalockdownfan
Me too, I love it when Pamela Ewing put J.R. and Ray Krebbs in their places.
Axl
When did Pam put Ray in his place? When she hooked up with Bobby?
tnalockdownfan
Well when Pamela caught Ray making out w/Lucy and she told him that if she ever saw him doing that again that she was going to tell Bobby, J.R. and Jock.

and boy, was Jock a No Nonsense kinda guy.

and also, do you remember Punky Brewster and Silver Spoons?

Now those were classics from the 80's on NBC.
Axl
Oh god, I forgot about that. Pam did catch Ray & Lucy.

Boy that whole storyline was dropped when they decided to make Ray, Jock's fourth son. It was never mentioned again until the recent retrospective. But it went reverse then. They brought up the affair, but completely ignored the character of Ray being a Ewing.

As for "Punky" & "SS", I watched them here and there, but I was never big on them. "Punky" could get annoying at times. I preferred "SS" if I had to choose, because Ricky Schroeder had all the cool toys (like the train!!!), and Erin Gray was smokin' hot. It's cool that Ricky went on to a successful career today kickin' ass on "NYPD Blue", and more recently "24" this year.

I would say Jerry Scheindlin and Marilyn Milian, but I don't watch The People Court that much anymore.
tnalockdownfan
Well here's something:

Alfonso Riberio who starred in Silver Spoons went on to greater success on 2 Hit TV Shows, both produced by Music Icon Quincy Jones:

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and In the House.

Also, Soleil Moon Frye who played Punky Brewster guest starred on Saved by the Bell and she also starred in Sabrina Goes to College when Sabrina moved to the WB after 4 years on abc.

and also, T.K. Carter who played Punky's Teacher Mike Fulton went on to star as Mylo Williams on Good Morning Miss Bliss and he also starred in The Sinbad Show and co-starred in The Steve Harvey Show.

Well 1st off before I go into the Soap Opera thing, let me just say that the 80's was an awesome decade for the world of International News.

and please tell me your thoughts on my favorite News Anchors from the 80's:

NBC News:
Tom Brokaw
Jane Pauley
Bryant Gumbel
Maria Shriver (Arnold's Wife)

ABCNEWS:
Ted Koppel
Hugh Downs
Barbera Walters
Sam Donaldson
Peter Jennings
Diane Sawyer

CBS NEWS:
Dan Rather
Bob Schiffer
Connie Chung

Please tell me your thoughts.
Slash
The only people i like is Peter Jennings and Barbra Walters.
tnalockdownfan
yeah, Peter Jennings was one of THE best News Anchors on ABCNEWS, it's a shame that he died a couple of years ago to Lung Cancer @ the age of 67, God Bless Him.

and Barbera Walters was a lot of fun on 20/20 and now, she's on The View, but I don't think that she likes Rosie O'Donnel, but that's my opinion, and also, I wonder what does she thinks of Meredith Viera being on The Today Show?

The Today Show, IMO belongs to Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley.

and also, the only time I would see Daytime Soap Stars is if they are on Game Shows like Family Feud, GO, Super Password and others.

Me too, well let me ask you this Slash:

Tell me your thoughts on the following hosts:

Richard Dawson
The Late Ray Combs
Richard Dawson's Return
Louie Anderson
Richard Karn
John O'Hurley

I like Dawson and Karn, but I'm still shocked about Ray Combs commiting suicide.

John O'Hurley is so far doing a good job.

I liked the guy on home improvement and louie anderson the best. John O'Hurley's the white haired guy right? if he is he bugs me the most out of all of them. Rich Dawson i like to. and Ray Combs was alright.

Well here's something for all of you late night junkies. LOL:

Back in the 80's when ABCNEWS created NIGHTLINE, the people @ abc wanted a News Program so they can compete against Johnny Carson and The Tonight Show, and so NIGHTLINE was born and Ted Koppel became one of the most respected News Journalists of all time along w/Peter Jennings, Sam Donaldson and Barbara Walters, and I tip my hat off to Ted, he was not a guy that was NEVER afraid to ask questions.

and also, back in the 80's CBS aired CBS Late Night, but they only showed old TV Shows and even Late Night Specias as well as Movies, and they even showed a Late Night Special on the band called KISS, but in 1989 Pat Sajak left the NBC version of Wheel of Fortune (of course he still does Wheel on syn. and still does the show to this day), but the reason why Sajak left NBC to do his Late Night Talk Show on CBS was b/c Sajak and/or CBS wanted to compete against Ted Koppel's Nightline and Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, but that NEVER worked and it was cancelled around the summer of 1989.

When Carson left NBC in 1992 after 30 years on The Tonight Show, Jay Leno took over as host of The Tonight Show and a year later, David Letterman left Late Night on NBC and Conan O'Brien took over Late Night and David Letterman who spent years on NBC signed a contract w/CBS and he became host of The Late Show, and the reason was b/c CBS wanted to find someone to compete against Jay Leno and Ted Koppel's popular series NIGHTLINE, and so by the fall of 1993, that marked the beginning of what it became The Late Night War, and in 2005, Ted Koppel left NIGHTLINE after 25 years and has also retired from ABCNEWS after 42 years, and today, he is now the Managing Editor of The Discovery Channel and BTW, that Network is owned by NBC-Universal.

Now those are the facts, how about that?

and Ted Koppel is certainly a man of honesty, integrity, and most of all, decentcy.

God Bless Ted Koppel.
