Why so many pictures, Sam, you ask??? Well, generally speaking, I take so many pictures in hopes of getting that ONE AWESOME shot! If I happen to get more than just one, then even better. Ultimately, after weeding through my pictures that I take, I end up with about 1/3 being deleted... A show that I take about 220 pictures will usually result in approximately 150 - 170 keepable pictures. (Yes, "keepable" is a word! Hehe...) I didn't take ANY videos this time, though... just still pics. To be honest, the last time I got videos (at the Hall of Fame show) was the ONLY time I've ever used my camera as a video camera. It actually turned out better than I had figured it would... but this time, I wanted to focus on the still shots.
Now, on with the show... I didn't take notes, as I usually do, so I don't have a 'track listing' of the songs Zac played... It was an acoustic show, which was pretty cool. It was a nice night... even though it DID get a little chilly as the night wore on. (I would later freeze to the point of shivering, but then I'm always cold anyway... hehehe). Some of the songs that Zac DID play included an AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME cover of SRV's "Pride and Joy" and the always-crowd-pleasing "Tupelo Honey" of Van Morrison fame (but, if you ask me, I like Zac's version better... but perhaps I AM a bit partial! Hehe...) He did do some original material... including a song or two that I had never heard him play live, while most who were present had never heard, period... Of course, he DID do his "standards", including "Memphis Women and Chicken" twice. He had asked if anyone in the audience had any requests... to which came the reply requesting "Memphis Women and Chicken". He said he had done it earlier in the show... but the crowd seemed to be eager to hear it again, so he asked if anyone minded. Hehe... As if!
Anyway, he did play it again, by request, which worked out well for me, since I, too, had missed it the first time. He also made sure to include "If It Wasn't For The Whiskey". He took lots of requests... and it was probably the most laid back/comfortable show of his I've been to. He sang every song with such heartfelt emotion, you couldn..'t help but get sucked in. THIS is the kind of show I'd love to be able to attend regularly!! Even his corny jokes that made us all laugh, almost at much AT him as WITH him, made me feel even better! I mentioned one of the jokes he made to my best friend and a couple of my coworkers. They all agree --- he's got the same sense of humor, at least with the jokes I've heard him crack, as I do. My coworker said "Oh my God, he's as dorky as you!" I, of course, took that as a GOOD thing, and spent the rest of the day with a goofy grin on my face every time I thought about it! Hehehe... After the show was over, about 3 hours in all, he talked with the folks that approached him... took pictures and signed autographs... He seems to be enjoying all the attention. Hehe... I waited around patiently, so as not to be a pain... but wanting my OWN picture with him as well. Before he left, I was able to get his attention (with the help of a friend or two... hehe) and I FINALLY was able to get a decent picture with him that wasn't blurry! I didn't have him sign anything for me... I will have opportunities for that when I see him on the Nashville Star tour in Massachusetts in July and Kentucky in September. I may actually be going to a third show in Kimball, TN as well... but that one's undecided as of right now. I really enjoyed the show IMMENSELY... Anyone who HASN'T seen him yet is really in for a treat whenever they DO get to see him perform. He truly is a music 'ARTIST'!! Oh yeah, one last side-note... When I got there, I noticed a spot right in front of the stage... just to Zac's left. I was amazed no one was sitting there already, so I made myself a home right there! Now obviously, since he was in the middle of a song, he couldn't 'zactly acknowledge my presence VERBALLY... but when he looked over where I was sitting and saw me there, he smiled at me. Not just ANY smile... but a 'recognizing' kind of smile... the kind of smile that you would imagine he'd give you if/when he recognizes you... Like as if to say, "Hey! You made it!
" That was all it took to make my night... and the fact that I got there late wasn't quite as terrible a catastrophe anymore. Hehe... (P.S. This makes the 8th show I've been to, if anyone else is keeping track... hehehehe...)
