Hehehe... I have a bird feeder up on my balcony along with a squirrel feeder. It seems to be THE hot spot in the neighborhood. In a normal 2 wk span, I will go through a 25 lb bag of black oil sunflower seeds and a 10 lb bag of squirrel feed. It costs approximately $25 for 2 wks...

We get ALL KINDS of creatures, though, so it's pretty cool. We get blue jays, cardinals (male and female... they look quite a bit different), chickadees, woodpeckers, and a few others that we're not sure what they are... we get squirrels, obviously, and have even had a raccoon at least once (that we've seen). At some point, I want to have a banner designed and made up for just above the dual glass sliding doors leading out to the balcony that says "Welcome To The Wild Wild Deck". Hehe...

Yes, I'm easily amused... but hey... it's 'live entertainment'... and for any who've come to Nashville and gone to the Bluebird Cafe while here, I have my OWN personal "bluebird cafe"... and redbird... and, oh never mind. Hehe...

anyway, I took some pics today... so here ya go!

the view from my bedroom door... tucked in the corner as far as I can...

view from the other corner... you can see the 2 feeders, too...

a complete 'aerial view' of the shells... all of these pics are nothing more than the empty shells from all the seed that's been eaten by my 'customers'

after sweeping up the shells... the pile... I left the broom in the pic as a 'size reference'... smile.gif

SamIAm
curious how tall this pile is??? The black 'stick' in the background is the handle of the broom --- you can't see the 'brush' part at all!!

Here's another reference --- that's a size 9 shoe in the pic!!

and finally... when all is said and done, I'm done sweeping up all the shells... this is a regular kitchen-sized trash bag...

Thats cool Sam. My mom has a bunch of bird feeders in our backyard. She has recently gotten into taking pictures of the birds. We have the Cardinals, bluebirds, indigo buntings, yellow finches (my personal fave), house finches, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and a few more I cant think of at the moment. Oh and the squirrels too. My mom can sit out there for hours at a time lol.

That's really SWEET, Sami! I have a LOT of squirrels at my house. dry.gif

Hehe... yeah, I love to just sit and watch them sometimes. It's kinda funny --- they eat breakfast... lunch... and dinner, too! It's kinda funny, but it's true... They're some 'snackers' amongst all the birds that come during the 'mealtime rush', too... but it's mostly in spurts --- at normal meal times! Hehehe...

I got a pic this morning (breakfast rush) of 2 squirrels BOTH on the feeder at the same time! I know they have to make a leap onto the feeder, then wrap their little arms and paws around the side to hang on... so I'm not sure how TWO got on there without knocking each other off (the feeder usually swings quite a bit after the squirrel leaps onto it)... but it was cool, so I took a pic!!

I would love to take that picture of the squirrels with me to work. I work with a girl that is TERRIFIED of squirrels. It is the most funniest thing ever. One time for her birthday we made her a card and put a huge picture of a squirrel in it. When she opened it she screamed and threw the card down and ran. It was so funny. You just had to be there. biggrin.gif

hehehe... that's funny!! I love watching all of 'em... biggrin.gif I don't think I ever met anyone who was afraid of squirrels before, though. tongue.gif
