Pittsburgh Stealer
By Craig Tello
Written: May 8, 2007 PITTSBURGH—The Rated-R Superstar cashed in his newly acquired Money in the Bank title opportunity tonight and knocked the sports-entertainment world off its axis by becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion. Following a beastly, relentless attack from a returning Mark Henry, Edge picked the bones of a bloodied Undertaker to win the first World Heavyweight Championship of his career.
With Edge’s nefarious, well-calculated triumph taking place at the close of Undertaker and Batista’s tumultuous caged war, the Steel City became the “Steal City” tonight.
Though the night ended with an R-rated celebration, it was originally a night where the fate of the World Heavyweight Championship was to be decided within the merciless walls of a 15-foot high steel cage. For what seemed like an eternity of brutality, Undertaker and Batista took one another to their physical limits, as both warriors nearly exploded through the fortified steel.
Beaten and barely able to stand, the challenger and the champion ultimately managed to somehow escape the cage at the exact same moment, ending the contest in a draw. Thus, the epic, four-month rivalry between The Phenom and The Animal – two of the most dominant competitors in SmackDown history – culminated with controversy and indecision, much similar to their fierce Last Man Standing Match at Backlash.
Moments after Batista and The Deadman gave every last ounce of themselves in pursuit of the title, the unexpected sound of the World’s Strongest Man’s theme music rung throughout the Mellon Arena. At the end of one of the most savage Steel Cage Match in history, Henry nearly maimed The Phenom and left him a mess in the center of the ring. Only then, with the fallen gladiator ravaged, the Rated-R Superstar would come to claim his championship opportunity.
Just 24 hours after shrewdly coaxing Mr. Kennedy into defending the Money in the Bank opportunity and seizing it on Raw, Edge defected to SmackDown at the most opportune moment. One spear and three counts of the referee’s hand later, it was New Year’s Revolution 2006 all over again. Yet again, Edge cashed in the Money in the Bank guarantee for a title match any time, any place, anywhere – this time for the World Heavyweight Championship. As an opportunistic Edge stood as the newly crowned bearer of SmackDown’s richest prize, the very landscape of sports-entertainment morphed to become Rated-R.
See this chaotic confrontation between The Animal and The Deadman as well as the new champion’s vile, heinous master plan realized by tuning in Friday night, only on The CW Network.

WELL! WELL! WELL!
Edge is NOW back on SD! after 4 years.
I mean he has spent the last 3 years on RAW and now that he's on SD!, I am not surprised.
He said a few years ago that he wanted to be the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION and now that he's on SD! he finally got his wish.
So now he and Chris Benoit have held 5 Championships in the WWE:
All Edge needs is the WWE United States Heavyweight Championship to become a SD! Triple Crown Winner and a Deluxe Triple Crown Winner, and also if Benoit loses the U.S. Gold to MVP @ Judgment Day the week after Mother's Day, then WWE will move him back to RAW and he can FINALLY focus on winning the WWE Heavyweight Championship and he, too will become a Deluxe Triple Crown Winner.

I think Edge will do it. I also agree, Benoit might be back on RAW soon.

Well here's something:
I think that the reason why Edge chose to go back to SD! after 4 years is simply b/c he doesn't want to feud w/Triple H.
Well that explains it.

The move has nothing to do with feuding with HBK, HHH or anyone else for that matter. With Undertaker, Booker and now Mr.Kennedy out, SD is in need of a huge name to keep interest. I think HBK would have been a better choice, but I doubt he would have approved such a move. I would not be surprised to see one or two more migrate there as well, who knows,, maybe C M Punk might be moved up....

It really doesn't explain it. HHH is injured right now and even if he came back Edge and HHH havn't been in a feud in a long time, so it's not like WWE if forced to book a feud between them. SD is down on stars, simple as that.

I would like to see that! For judgment day though I am sure Edge will face somebody but I just can't think of anyone besides Henry and Batista???? I would of liked to see King Booker go for the title but I do not know if he will be back by then?? Matt Hardy is another possibility?? He is performing well lately!!

It'll most likely be an Edge/Batista feud. Or another possibility could be Edge/Booker T, or Edge/Benoit. Personally I think if they do an Edge feud with Booker, the face turn will bring back Booker T.

Injured stars on SD means nothing for him. Him and Jeff are still tagging and they won't suddenly break it up and have him on SD. If whenever they break up they have to feud and get that done with. By then you have Kennedy coming back sometime around 2 months and you won't need Matt anymore. And if anything, Jeff will get the push if they had to choose a Hardy.

I agree it will most likely be batista, but i can see a Mark Henry feud. Henry sort of (in a way) was responsible for edge getting the title. I can see him thinking that the title is rightfully his.
