Hey guys, here's something interesting:
Please tell me your thoughts on the promoters from the NWA, AWA, ECW, WCW, WWE, and TNA:
Jim Crockett-Former President of NWA Jim Crockett Promotions
Verne Gagne-Former Owner of the AWA
Paul Heyman
Ted Turner
Eric Bischoff
Vincent Kennedy McMahon
Jerry Jarrett-Founder of NWA TNA
Jeff Jarrett-Part Owner and Vice President of TNA
Dixie Carter-President of TNA Wrestling
Please tell me your thoughts on them.
Forgive me, i'm not experts really on all of them.
Jim Crockett
--- Founding father of both WCW & ECW. Laid the ground work for the franchise WCW to later be sold to Ted Turner, and the ECW turn over to then-booker Paul Heyman, who really shot it to stardom. Crockett always envisioned great ideas, but didn't really have the ability to take them to that next level, to really market them as a full-fledged franchise for the masses.
Paul Heyman
--- Made ECW the cult legend it is. Really ushered in a new era of what was around for awhile. Hardcore matches had been around since the Shiek's day, but on a seriously underground level. Heyman made it mainstream popular to have hardcore matches, and really launched the careers of modern superstars like Rob Van Dam & Chris Benoit.
Ted Turner
--- The true father of WCW. Although WCW had been a franchise created by Jim Crockett, Turner bought the brand at near bankruptcy in 1988, and really envisioned the brand to be a true 'Pepsi' to the WWF's 'Coke', which was skyrocketing at the time in popularity with wrestlers like "Hulk" Hogan, Jake "The Snake" Roberts & The Junkyard Dog. Turner had the money to turn WCW into a huge powerhouse, and the company gradually grew throughout the 90's. Unfortunately Turner's control over the company's direction went south fast, when he no longer had carte blanche over it. Instead a board of a directors really drove it into the ground.
Eric Bischoff
--- The man who took Turner's money & power backing, and really made WCW the powerhouse competition to the WWF. Great mind for the business, booking & direction, however Bischoff's downfall was excess and obessesion. Bischoff became obsessed with beating McMahon over at the WWF, and Bischoff signed almost everyone released by the WWF. Many of which were already washed up talent at the time. Guys like "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Lex Luger, and yes, even Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Hart threw every dime at his disposal to get guys like this, and even gave them healthy raises to keep them around. This eventually drove WCW into bankruptcy. The Time Warner merger, when they realized the WCW franchise wasn't turning a profit, was the final nail in the coffin.
Vincent Kennedy McMahon, Jr.
--- Wrestling god. The man who turned wrestling into what it is today. His father laid the groundwork, but McMahon truely saw what mega-franchised product the WWF, and later WWE, as it's known today, would become down the road. McMahon really hasn't made any 'bad' decisions in his career yet. Storyline moves have weakened in recent years after the WWE saw a huge spike in popularity during the "Attitude" era from 1998-2001, rumored to have been the brainchild of Vince's son Shane, who thought pushing the envelope to a more adult ground with things like D-Generation X, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, & The Divas, would usher in an even new era of marketability, popularity & respect. Today the WWE maintains steady ratings for the most part, and continues to turn bigger profits each year. In alot of ways, this is the only mainstream wrestling, and will probably stay that way. It's a monopoly, but a good one.

Well here are my thoughts on the promoters:
Jim Crockett, Jr.-A man who helped found Jim Crockett Promotions, and he has introduced The Road Warriors, The 4 Horsemen, Magnum T.A., Dusty Rhodes, and even Lex Luger and Barry Windham, the reason he sold his promotion to Ted Turner was b/c he was having financial problems.
Verne Gagne-A man who founded the AWA, he also introduced so many wrestlers that would eventually head to the WWE, and the reason that his company went out of business was simply b/c he was so greedy and he couldn't let go of the company.
Jim Cornette-A man who introduced Smokey Mountain Wrestling and OVW, he has introduced many wrestlers including The Rock 'N' Roll Express, The Midnight Express, Chris Candido, and even Mick Foley, he is also a man who is also respected for many of his accomplishments and an outspoken person when it comes to the rights and the wrongs in the world of Professional Wrestling.
Paul Heyman-A man who put the E in Extreme in ECW, and he also helped introduced the ECW to future stars such as Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, Dean Malenko, The Dudley Boys and even Rob Van Dam, and he also helped some of the departed WCW Stars successful such as Chris Benoit, Raven, 2 Cold Scorpio and even Shane Douglas.
Ted Turner-The Self Proclaimed Media Mogul, a man who bought Jim Crockett Promotions and turned it into WCW-World Championship Wrestling, he also introduced to many WCW Legends such as STING, Goldberg, The Nitro Girls and even the Cruiserweights.
The Biggest Problems w/WCW were as follows:
Guananteed Money, Backstage Politics, and Creative Differences.
Eric Bischoff "Mr. Controversy Creates Cash"-A man who stepped up and challenge Vince McMahon to a Showdown and a man who almost put the WWE out of business, but he was the man who also took WCW out of those so called small grungy arenas, but he also created the nWo, and he has also had some problems backstage w/many of the wrestlers including Ric Flair, Tammy, and even Missy Hyatt (but she's more of a Soap Opera Fanatic than a Wrestling Fanatic), but I HOPE that he learned his lesson from all of the mistake that he made, especially when he gave wrestlers complete control over their television character.
Vincet J. McMahon-A man who helped introduced the WWWF and made Bruno Sanmartino and The Fabulous Moolah a Phenomenon, and he also helped introduce Superstar Billy Graham, Bob Backlund, and even Pedro Morales, and he also introduced the Intercontinetal Heavyweight Championship and he made Pat Patterson the 1st man to hold the I-C Heavyweight Title.
Vincent Kennedy McMahon-Wrestling God? I don't think so, this is a man who helped make Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior Phenoms, and he also carried the company in honor of his father Vince, Sr., but, in the 90's the WWE had too many cliques, and he also became the next King of Controversy next to the original King of Controversy Norman Lear, especially since he screwed Bret Hart out of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and he also made the WWE Divas Girls Gone Wild, but these days Vince McMahon has too many backstabbers in his company, and he's also had too much publicity focused on him, and he's also made too many enemies, it's no wonder guys like Bret Hart, Jerry Lynn, Jim Cornette, and even Mick Foley can't STAND him, and it's no wonder women like Tammy hates him b/c he was too egotistical, and other women like Gail Kim, Christy Hemme, Stacy Keibler and even Dawn Marie hates him b/c he's fired them.
SHAME ON YOU VINCE McMAHON, I may be wrong, but I'm predicting that he might just sell his company one day to Shane, Stephanie & Triple H or better yet, he should sell it to NBC-Universal.
Jerry & Jeff Jarrett-2 man who have found TNA Wrestling, Jerry Jarrett found NWA: TNA in Nashville, TN and he helped launched the company on weekly PPV and Jerry Jarrett to this day is still the founding father of that company, and they even introduced the X-Division, Ultimate X and even mixed TNA w/NWA and WCW, and when TNA came out, they wanted to introduce TNA b/c alot of people were tired of just seeing WWE and since many of the wrestlers from WWE, WCW, and others were tired of wroking for WWE and others just don't want to go there, that's when they introduced TNA.
The NEW Face of Professional Wrestling.
Dixie Carter (Not to be confused w/the Actress from Designing Women)-Now THIS Young Woman is gunning for McMahon, this is a woman who helped introduce the 6-Sided Ring, she has also introduced The 6-Sided Ultimate X and she has also helped introduced my personal favorite the 6-Sides of Steel, and now that TNA is continuing to grow, she can also help introduce a Women's Division when they get 2 hrs. on TV, and also, she is also nice enough to let Jackie Gayda take time off from TNA to spend time w/her daughter, unlike the WWE who had the NERVE to fire Dawn Marie b/c she was pregnant, and she is also nice enough to offer people TNA Contracts as well.
and that's my take on the promoters, if I had to pick my favorites, I would have to say Jim Crockett, Jim Cornette, The Jarretts, and Dixie Carter. WHY? b/c they care about people, unlike Vince McMahon and Ted Turner, IMO.
