Full Version: Hackers Duo - What Do You Think?

I must confess that upon learning that Angela had decided to join with her brother Zac to create a performing duo I was initially disappointed. We had worked to give her the victory and this somehow diluted it. After all in the last round Zac was the 'enemy." Then common sense and reason kicked in. Like so many others, I had wished for some kind of tie, and now we have it. In effect both Angela and Zac have won by sharing the contract. More importantly, it would seem to be a perfect marketing ploy - Angela and Zac togther will simply attract more attention, not to mention the fact that the combination of their talents should be very strong - strong enough we hope to break the Nashville Star curse. We have Sugarland as a duo, Brooks and Dunn, and of course the Judds - the Hackers could turn out to be something as awesome as was implied by their songs and performances on Star. I wonder how they will break down songs etc. (and will big sis prevail most of the time -you sense that on more than one occasion when they were growing up she had to bring him into line smile.gif )- would Angela just do backup vocals on "Whiskey," or are they going to be a real team? It will be great to see, what do the rest of you think?

Hmmm....

First I was excited by the Duo idea. (When I thought they were doing the Duo CD in addition to another Angela CD)

Then I was disappointed. (When it seemed the Wal Mart CD was going to be Angela's only solo project)

The two sound great together. I agree, it might help break the NS curse. (and if you think the curse affects the winner, the second place finisher is usually doubly cursed)

I don't view Zac as the enemy. He has a great voice. He doesn't sound country to me, but I do like his voice.

Angela has a very unique, country voice. I'd just hate to see the potential she has merged into a duo effort.

But I'm just a fan. Not a music industry expert.

I'm still so torn... I'm actually a huge Zac fan (in case you hadn't noticed... hehe)

I, too, want solo music from them... I will have to wait and see how the first Hackers album comes out to give my complete judgment on it, though. I just hope they don't get lost as a duo... and then fizzle out.

time will tell...

my theory on what they're probably doing is something similar to a group I like called Eddie From Ohio. They share the vocals among the group on each of their songs... certain ones Julie provides lead vocals.. certain ones, it's Robby... on a few, even Mike does lead vocals. They work the songs so well, one can only hope that Zac and Angela would find similar success doing something like that. I keep telling myself it'll be okay...

but I keep going back to wanting solo music, too. tongue.gif

I said this in another post but I will add it here..

Could this have been a Hacker plan all along??
Angela said in one interview that if Zac won he had to come and take care of his sister..
Then after the duet on the final show she stated it very plan that her and Zac would be singing together again if you follow my drift in her answer to Jewel's question would she sing with Zac again..

I agree it could put Nashville star over the Curse with both having a large fan base..
I knew something was up when Zac was going to the studios to do vocals and guitar work..
Angela said in a post that she didn't feel a need to hire someone else to do background work and all when Zac already knew how to do it...

Zac got Angela back on her dream, so now had they planned a duo all along or did they really want to go solo...

I think they both love singing and performaning but I think they like the feel of the other one being there to help push each other on to a greater level...

Did they plan a duo from the start or did they really want to go single? As we all know they couldn't do a duo on Nashville star and win, but going solo and taking first and second they showed the record companies they are both good in their own right..
The duet song showed them that the Hackers are A triple threat... Angela, Zac, Or Duet they are a force to be reacon with in the music business...

I just hope they never become as big headed as some people...
I will not mention a famous family that had solo singers, one was better than the other but both were good...at a concert by one of them a question was asked and I happened to hear the exchange..

Why did they bring in someone else to open for you why didn't they bring in your sister... the reply shocked me and made me mad as hell I don't buy either of their cds or song any more, and they are now off the tours and charts...
The reply was YOU couldn't afford to pay for us both in Concert.....

I took that very personal and as an insult to someone that was supporting them and liked their music until that moment..
I got out of the autograph line and haven't done anything with their music since...
If I can't afford you both in concert then I will not support you to live either...

I hope that Zac and Angela tour solo and together and never tell someone they came afford them both in concert...

But I think its a big win for WB records all the way to the back
They just joined two big size fan base together for going to shows and purchasing cd's...

Ok blast away at my opinion LOL

No doubt in my mind it was the plan all along.

It wasn't planned. Angela and Zac were both completely shocked that they both made it to the end. They became a "team", if you will, due to behind the scenes pressures on the show. They stuck together. You know what they say -- blood is thicker than water. And Zac will be signing his own contract, so I still say this is a good thing, but that's just this particular Hacker Backer's opinion!

Zac signing his OWN contract is definitely a good thing!! biggrin.gif PLUS... on the MS2MR show, M Fletcher Brown asked Zac if we can expect a "Zac Hacker" project in the near future and he replied DEFINITELY... it's DEFINITELY going to happen. He didn't ask about a Hackers project, but a ZAC HACKER project. If Zac is doing a solo project, it's pretty much a GUARANTEE that Angela will, too.

I still THINK I'm happy about this... it's just a BONUS. smile.gif I'll keep telling myself that until, or unless, I'm proven wrong. smile.gif

Their voices sound great together and I think it is awesome that they are able to record together too. Zac is one of the best song writers, in my opinion, and I really hope that he gets to record his origional songs. Same with Angela smile.gif

I do think that both the Hackers are incredible talent but I also think that the real 'winner' in this situation will be Warner Bros. We will have to see if the fans respond to a duet or really want Angela to be the NS Star! Zac should be able to handle a solo career on his own merits! And,BTW....speaking of the NS curse - DSR was told by a BIG label last week that they are VERY interested in him and love his talent but......."they will be ready to talk seriously when the "NS monkey is off his back"! Meaning after the tour and all contractual agreements are over with NS. I don't understand what the negative opinions are about the show....Anyone out there get it???????
RodeoClown
I guess they think NS is not very good and that they like AI better...

I am glad for DSR I knew that someone would want him...
