Embrace the deception, learn how to bend, your worst inhibition, it will Psych you out in the end.

Hi Bubba here, all you had to do is turn on your Closed Captions. tongue.gif

Geez, it seems you guys keep skipping the first verse... I've heard it so many times I've memorized it by heart...

In between the lines theres a lot of obscurity
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity
If it's all right, then you're all wrong
but why bounce around to the same dam* song......
Rather run when you can't crawl

I know, you know that I'm not telling the truth
I know, you know, they just don't have any proof
Embrace the deception, Learn how to bend
Your worst inhibitions tend to Psych you out in the end

Yes I've heard it enough times to know that song by heart. Now I want the lyrics of the Spanish version so I can learn that one too! But I have no idea how to get those lyrics besides just listening to it a million times.
Raquel
Okay folks, bear with me now because the person singing the Spanish version isn't a Spanish speaker, so what I've heard doesn't make much sense:

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro.
Todos saber que no digo la verdad.
Todos saber que no tengo una prueba.
Si quieres un gran cambio, confórmate.
Tus inhibiciones al final no podrás resaber.
¡Arriba!

What I think they meant to say:

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro.
Todos saben que no digo la verdad.
Todos saben que no tengo una prueba.
Si quieres un gran cambio, confórmate.
Tus inhibiciones al final no podrás resolver.
¡Arriba!

But I'm not sure at all, so feel free to correct it.
PsychJujuPineapple
Thanks! Gotta memorize now!
irwin1138
i doubt that the person wasn't a native spanish speaker. some people just pronounce things differently. to me, it sounds like he is saying "saben". the word "resaber" is correct and appropriate. the third line is what confuses me. it doesn't sound like it has as many words in it as you've written. it sounds to me like "si es una grano, conformate"
Riot13
I have a friend from mexico and I'm trying to get her to teach me how to say the words! I would love to be able to sing it in spanish! Haha I can probably have her check the lyrics and provide a the correct ones since there seems to be some confusion. I've made her listen to the song so many times SHE'S probably already got it memorized! lol.

Actually the singer is Steve Franks, the creator of the show and singer of the original version.

How about Indonesian (a language I know really well)?

Ku tahu, kau tahu
Memang kubohongi
Ku tahu, kau tahu
Memang tak ada bukti
Peluklah kebohongan
Marilah setuju
Akhirnya larangan yang terjelek mau buatmu kaget banget!

Literal translation:
I know, you know
I've certainly lied
I know, you know
Certainly there's no proof
Embrace the lies
Let's all agree ("learn how to bend" > belajar gimana cara cocoknya - just doesn't flow like it should)
At last the worst prohibitions will make you very surprised/shocked.

Thanks for the info.
I'm surely gonna add the song to my playlist.

I agree that we all pronounce things differently, but I'm Spanish and I think I know when someone isn't a native wink.gif I also agree that some things are probably wrong, I had a hard time understanding it, but "si es una grano" doesn't make any sense to me, maybe it's one of those words used in some countries and not in others... unsure.gif I'm from Spain.

Riot13, I hope your friend from Mexico can tell us the exact lyrics smile.gif

A revised version, including the first verse:

Di latar belakang ada banyak yang kurang jelas
Belum siap jadi orang dewasa yang puas
Jikalau baik, yang lain itu salah
Tapi kenapa ikut yang sama gitulah?

Jadi lari walaupun ndak bisa jalan...

Sudah tahu
Memang kubohongi
Sudah tahu
Memang nggak ada bukti
Terima kebohongan
Marilah setuju
Akhirnya malunya yang terjelek mau buatmu kaget banget.

Translation:
In the background there's a lot that's not quite clear
(I'm) not ready yet to become a satisfied adult
If it's fine, the others are wrong
But why follow the same (thing) in that way?

(You) happen to run even though you can't walk

(We) already know
Certainly I've lied
(We) already know
Certainly there's no proof
Accept the lies
Let's agree
At last the worst of your shyness will make you very surprised/shocked.

And now for my next trick...

naega geoshinmal hago jal algesseosseo
jeongmal jeunggeoga eopsgo jal algessoesseo

geunyang sogimeul batja
jujeonghagi baeuja
gyeolguk ne gajang nappeun geumjiga
meori jjanael ggeoya

Translation:
That I’ve lied is well understood
That there’s really no proof is well understood

Let’s just accept the deception
Let’s learn to adjust
At last your worst inhibitions
Will puzzle you.

Doh! I've been wondering the same thing about some of the lyrics....and it never occurred to me to try the closed captioning.
And it's a double doh! because I do use the closed captioning sometimes.

I guess for some reason I just never thought theme song lyrics were captioned.

Thanks for your comment.

To tell you the truth, such is the nature of translation - it's nearly impossible to completely translate something (especially song lyrics) from one language to another, so you have to make reasonable substitutions. And English has a lot of idioms ["psych you out" is a nice one], which makes translation to and from English extremely difficult.

And some things that are common in other languages don't translate well into English. For example, there are several ways to say "Are you a fan of delicious flavor" in Korean (and I'll try to be as literal as I can), depending on who Shawn is talking to with this quote (of course, if Shawn knew Korean hypothetically in the first place tongue.gif)...

To Henry, the Chief, or Lassiter:
masissneun mas-eui paen-i-seyo?
delicious flavor-of fan-be...
[The "seyo" means that Shawn is talking to his seniors in a casual situation.]

[...] paen doeshimnikka?
["Doeshimnikka": Shawn talking to his seniors, perhaps in a really formal situation like a police briefing in the Chief's office. This quote would be really ironic to use in this case.]

[...] paen-i-eyo?
["Eyo": used if Shawn still wants to be polite, but is now talking to his equal or inferiors. I'm thinking he wouldn't use this often, knowing his tendencies.]

To Gus:
[...] paen-i-ya?
["Ya": Not as polite/sort of blunt. Perfect for Gus.]

And I could go on with more combinations of this sort - Korean is that sort of language. And what do you get when you translate it back to English? Simply "Are you a fan of delicious flavor?".

It would be really interesting to see a subtitled episode of Psych from Korea (they do broadcast it through their OnStory channel, apparently) and see how they do the subtitling.
PsychJujuPineapple
Haha! You are good with your languages!!

WOW... Yeoboseyo, that's really good!

Here's the theme song in German (both verses... though I'm not sure how accurate this is with syllables, etc... but it's just for fun).

Yeoboseyo
Wah! The German version looks like a mouthful!

Close... it's actually (just from what you mentioned): Embrace the deception, learn how to bend. Your worst inhibitions tend to PSYCH you out in the end.
Ciel
I think Raquel's right on what they meant to say (personally, that was how I heard it, but we all have different ears.) I would like to suggest, though, that "si quieres un gran cambio" is really "si es un engaño" - 'engaño' meaning deceit or trick. It's how I heard it and what makes more sense to me. Then the meaning would be, roughly, "if it's a deception, conform to it / go with it," more along the lines of the original English.

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro.
Todos saben que no digo la verdad.
Todos saben que no tengo una prueba.
Si es un engaño, confórmate.
Tus inhibiciones al final no podrás resolver.
¡Arriba!

Sorry to nitpick smile.gif

As to the first verse that you can hear on the end credits, I've listened through it and come up with a draft. I'm still a but fudgy on the first line, and if anyone wants to correct, feel free to.

No marches si puedes correr...

(Coro)

¡Todos saben!
¡Todos saben!
¡Arriba!

this has to do with the english lyrics just listened toit twice and it is definetly where's the deception instead of embrace the deception

Here's a link to the Psych theme song:http://www.free-lyrics.org/The-Friendly-Indians/276180-I-Know-You-Know-Psych-Theme-Song.html

Haha, I went to www.freetranslation.com and this is what I found.

I entered the lyrics from the original theme and said to translate to spanish.

It came up as...

So then I copy and pasted these words and switched it to translate from Spanish to English.

and it came up as...

In the middle the lines there is a lot of darkness. I am not inclined to resign upon maturity. If is well, then you are every injustice. But why boot around to the same damned song? You raid more well when you cannot be dragged...

I know, you know, that I do not speak the truth. I know, you know, they just do not have any test. Embrace the deceit- learns how to double, Their worse inhibition tends to prepare mentally went to the end.

I know, you know that I know, you know that I know, you know that I know, you know

I found this funny.

P.s I always thought it was "It's the deception, you learn how to bend Your worst inhibitions tend to Psych you out in the end."
gooie_choclatechip_cookie5
In the middle theres of lines much dark that I am not inclined to resign to the maturity If it is good, then you are everything

dull injustice but so that around to the same damn song. ..... You run rather when you cannot crawl

I know, you you know that I do not say the truth that I know, you you know, they right do not have any Hug of test

the deceit, Learns how to double His worse inhibitions they tend to Mentalizar to him went to the aim

this is what i got when i did that
