Okay now that the first season is coming to a close, I was hoping that USA network would do a Psych marathon like they did for the first part of season 1 back in August/September. After that last Friday episode back then, they immediately went with a 7+ hour Psych marathon of all the episodes in order the next Saturday. That was an awesome move on their part. I watched the whole thing. It kind of helped put closure for me on that 1st half of season 1 and it certaily gave people who didn't come aboard the Psych bandwagon from the get go a chance to get caught up on the episodes. But if you look at the schedule for the USA network in March, you won't see any such thing this time around and as a matter of fact, it looks like the show is diappearing entirely (yes I know they already greenlit season 2).
I think marathons of their shows is a great idea after the season comes to a close. They should have a weekend marathon of Monk, the 4400, Nashville Star, the Dead Zone and Psych. They just had a weekend marathon of Law & Order SVU (which was great) which isn't even a show they created nor produce.
I just hate it that once that season finale of Psych airs this Friday, the show will almost completely disappear from the network (until the summer?) save for 1 weekly late night showing. I know Monk does better ratings and is a more established show and all, but why do we get reruns of Monk on Friday nights and Psych gets the boot? What if you missed an episode? Do you just have to wait for the DVD release in a year from now? It would seem that airing the reruns for the next 7 weeks may actually help get more exposure for the show. I mean seriously, in this day and age when people have such short attention spans, how can you really build a long term following for a show that's only on 14 weeks a year? and that 14 weeks is split up into 2 opposite times of year (July/August & January/February).
I really think USA network is not doing a good job building the show up. Psych is better than most of the recycled crap on network tv and I'm just afraid it will get canned after season 2 because of mismanagement.
