Full Version: Does He Live In A House Or Apartment?!

I am so confused. The 2G on the door indicates that Monk lives in an apartment, along with the hallway outside his door in many episodes including the 1st season theme song. But on a few occasions, he has lived in a house. I was thinking of this because I was just watching The Panic Room. He put a "House for Sale by Owner" sign outside and the landlord was mad because he rents the house. Also, in the Paperboy, it is clear that he lives in a house when the boy delivers the paper to his house. And then his apartment in "Mrs. Monk" looked a lot different on the outside compared to the garbage strike and captain's wife. Where does Monk live?!?!?!?!?!

I can't answer your question, but here is a clue and another question. In the Monk Makes a Friend episode, the mailman pushed the mail through a slit in Monk's front door. In San Francisco do mailmen do that in apartment buildings, for each apartment?

Monk is leasing an apartment house with an option to own???

It's tv. We all know that the inside of the homes don't usually match the outside of the place. Ah The magic of television.

I always thought Monk lived in an apartment. smile.gif

Good question! The inside of his place looks like an apartment (a VERY nice apartment at that!), but I was thinking that he lived in a house. Am I delusional in thinking that they once showed the outside of his house? laugh.gif

Andrea

PS: I know I'm usually delusional, but that question was refering to his house! tongue.gif

Huh! When Monk lives there it has to be very nice apartment. biggrin.gif

I also don't know where Monk lives. And I also was thinking about it. In some scenes they show us the apartment, in some house... This is television, and we don't know their secrets and tricks.

They sometimes show us house where is Monks apartment...and sometimes only apartment...
When somebody says that in PANIC ROOM Monk want to seel the house he though about all house where were few apartments...Monks and Kevins and others people...
Hope you know what I have on mean

ok, i'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the differences. there are a lot of set changes in the house in general, like carpet in the living room, but now hardwood floor. and above his couch there are only 5 boxes when there used to be 6. i'm thinking that he probably lives on the 2nd floor (2G). Do we know of any other neighbors besides Kevin? In the paperboy, do they mention that Kevin lives upstairs or next door?

I'm pretty sure that in Wikipedia that it says that Kevin is his upstairs neighbor. He lives in an apartment, but the magic of television, (and the writers), make it seem as if it is a house when it suits them. Just like they make Monk's memory imperfect when it suits them. You learn to live with inconsistencies or you become like Monk. smile.gif

Yes, that's right. Within the fictional context of the show he lives in an apartment. The exterior is different because sometimes it's filmed in San Francisco and sometimes in Los Angeles.

You're most likely 95% right, Teresa.. rolleyes.gif I'm just glad he doesn't live in MY house, I couldn't bear the responsibility of putting him back into a catatonic state from which he'd never return. blink.gif I couldn't live with myself if that ever happened! I don't even live in my house, I just go through the motions.
