After watching Blind Spot again tonight, my son raised a question that was never really answered, Was Jo Gage the original Sebastian too? Bobby said something about Declan believing there could be no true woman serial killers, she got kind of miffed by that. She killed 3 this time, does that make her a serial killer now?

She said "I was ready this time" when Declan was coming to town, that is why I think she was the original Sebastian. She would have been in her twenties then. Did she fail out of Quantico before or after Declan had his breakdown?

My son doesn't believe she was the original because Declan still never saw her.
IMO, gv, I think she was. Then again, would she have been too young? She did organize all Declan's files in alphabetical order for him, to get his attention, or did she know which order they went in anyway? Good question. Makes ya want to go HHMMMM?

The real Sebastian struck 15 years earlier, she would have been a teenager. Possible, but not likely. And didn't Goren tell Ross that Sebastian left semen on his victims? Jo's victims, or at least the first one for sure, was violated with an object but there was no semen (obviously). And yes, I think 3 victims qualifies her as a serial killer. In fact, she was one of the "cases" in Declan's book on serial killers that lured Nicole Wallace to him.

I have been meaning to comment on Unsteady's comment about Declan ignoring her...even when she was in a coma, in favor of his "son" Bobby. Very sad life from beginning to end. Oh...and I'll have to watch Frame again, but I thought Declan said he didn't tell Bobby about her coma because "I know you two were close...in your own way". Implying how foolish it was for Bobby to have any feelings for this daughter who was almost invisible to him. I don't often feel much compassion for killers...but poor Jo indeed.

I just watched Vacancy...and cruise to nowhere and I had a thought...well several....Isn't VDO a method actor? I think I read somewhere that he was...I wonder how deep he gets into his characters....bet he enjoyed making this episode, getting to talk about his trade and all.. another thought..red heads...there was one in vacancy too...well more strawberry blonde...but still..

Vincent is a method actor, and he was very interested in doing this episode. I read an interview with Gina Gionfriddo, who wrote the episode (if I recall correctly) and she said that Vincent was enthusiastic about this storyline and enjoyed doing it. When it comes to similiar experiences, I think he had his when he was preparing to film "The Cell". That was a "dark" material.
I haven't seen Vacancy, but hope to someday.
Kayne

Ohh... you got to see it..He was very Bobbyish in that one...and Eames had some great lines.....and thanks for answering my question. smile.gif

I also felt for Jo...when she was confessing I was like, you Pr**k...how can someone so brilliant be so stupid, to not see his daughter as anything more then his assistant...the way she was so enthusiastic about helping him organize the crime sceen photos when she was a small child without being grossed out...(woulda been my first clue).. But he was so arrogant, and narrowminded....grrr.

I noticed it too..perhaps thats why they throw in pops of color, like Bobbys blue shirts and all the red heads! The ties have gotten more colorful as well.

Maybe it has something to do with the changes the series made in 2006 when the picture format was changed for HDTV?

It's called High In The Sky and the artist is Carl. Seems like there are a couple of different mixes of it out there. LoveCatMusic.com has a CD listed called "Dance Grooves V.3 - Don't Just Sit There" and the clip of the song sounds more like the version used in the episode. There's one on YouTube that's from Italo Dance Hits. Here's the link to that one:

High In The Sky-Carl - on YouTube

Edited to add: I found it on iTunes as well. Just search the song title and you can find it there. smile.gif

Hey girls...competition seems pretty fierce around here..we all want a piece of Bobby, huh?

Criminal intent is not quite the same without Goren. He is has such an extensive knowledge of everything you could possibly imagine and the way he examines crime scenes, with such boyish charm..and he goes on and on even while inevitably annoying Eames, as always, and seeing everyones eyes rolling (Capt. Deegan: What now?? and ADA Carver "why should I trust you?") he forges on with his insane and obscure patterns and coincidences that might otherwise go unnoticed and inevitably he is always right cuz he is so freaking smart!!

I love Goren, and I love Eames too. I love when she gets pissed at him. Its so realistic and it makes it so much more enjoyable. Shes already rolling her eyes and saying, "okay-impress me" as soon as they get to the crime scene..so funny. Plus the emotional side of his character that is shown through his relationships with Eames, the captains, the ADA, his mom ("Bobby, you never come see me"), his brother Frank, and last but not least, NICOLE WALLACE. Never has a crime show sucked me into the drama of one character so much.

To top it off, Vincent D'Onofrio is such an awesome actor, he really gets into the characters he plays...from Gomer Pyle to Pooh Bear("Salton Sea") to our beloved Detective Bobby Goren...he rocks!!

The subtle, complicated relationship between Goren and Eames is one of the many things I like about LOCI. It's deeper than most partnerships and friendships. As is true of a lot of relationships based on Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, the Holmes like character (Goren) needs the Watson like character (Eames) a lot more than the Watson needs the Holmes. I don't think it's a romantic relationship, althougth there's been huge amounts of fanfiction written suggesting one (and I confess with some shame I've contributed to it).

In the real world, nearly every interview Mr. D'Onofrio has given regarding LOCI has included his making several very complimentary comments about Ms. Erbe.

Can anyone please tell me the name of this episode and which season it was in.

Women killed in white underwear...? (I think) and they arrest a young man who it turns out is either innocent or set up by his father who is a guard or security officer in train station. The father has killed women before and has restarted killing them since his 2nd wife died. The end of the scene the man says to his son" you are no son of mine" I am sure its an episode with Carver and Deakins in.
The Goren Eames chemistry is excellent too.

Ahh that was a good episode. Its called, "Shibboleth" from season four...That is also where I learned that a man with red beard and brown hair is genetic.. smile.gif

I have a question...research, really, for my fanfic. I don't remember what episode it was that Deakins showed a picture of his daughters to a woman, and talked about "plucking out bad influences". How many daughters did he have? I'm thinking 3. And what ages did they appear to be in the brief flash we got? Teens? Young adults?

I think it was "The Unblinking Eye" about the actors. The girl was seeing the boy who ate the ring? I think it is 3 daughters and Deakins might have said their ages but maybe you can rewatch the episode to be sure.

Stupid question here, for my own silly benefit.

In Frame, the picture that was left at the grave, that was supposed to be of Bobby and Frank. Was that an actual picture of a young VDO morphed into frame with an actual pic of a young Tony Goldwyn? I've seen such things on other TV shows. Pictures of people when they were young, some look like actual childhood photos of celebs morphed to fit the storyline. Does anyone have a screencap of the picture in Frame?

Kayne

Wow, to be honest I nere really thought of who ws in the picture but I wouldn't think they would go to all the "effort" of getting pictures of a young VDO and Tony Goldwyn and the splicing them together. Probaly just took two pictures of two young boys with similar facial features from the catalogues of a casting agency and might have done it that way??

Kayne - these are really young pics!!! You can see the potential though?! smile.gif

The name of this movie is "Signs of Life". I've heard mixed reviews, but I actually thought it was very good and VDO was compassionate as the brother. The boy who played his brother in this movie, plays in an LOCI ep (Con TEXT, I think) and the man who plays his best friend is Gwen's father from the LOCI "Grow" (and Benny from The Mummy).

I've always thought that the fact that so many people that VDO's been in movies with have made guest appearances on LOCI (Olivia D'Abo, Colm Meaney, Theresa Russell to name a few) says a lot about what a good person VDO himself must be. (Colm Meaney also co-starred with Chris Noth in a movie called "The Bad Apple" - talk about acting ability. For anyone who's seen what an SOB Colm Meaney was in Claire Dolan. In The Bad Apple he's a completely different character - and then he plays the rat bastard judge In The Wee Small Hours...)

Her name was Bishop and I'm pretty sure they never gave her a first name.

QUOTE (AllThatJazz @ Nov 21 2005, 08:28 PM) *
For some reason, Lynn jumps to mind, but I don't know. She was all right. She was no Eames though. :-)

The character's name was G. Lynn Bishop (played by Samantha Buck).

I always thought Eames (Erbe's) temporary replacement handled unfairly to both the character and the actress.
The writer's and producers made it very obvious that Bishop (Buck) were only "temporary." They wrote the scripts to make the character and actress simply a "placeholder" for the missing Eames (Erbe). Bishop must have been a competent detective or she wouldn't have been placed in Major Case; they made her look like she didn't know which end was up.

As for knowing how to work with Goren (VDO); a replacement can't possibly be "in sinq" with someone to the extent of a partner, Eames (Erbe) as a partner of 2-3 years. And Bishop couldn't be expected to know the history of every criminal & case Goren & Eames had handled previously.

*****

When I first joined this Board (approx. Aug, 2007), I got rather confused as I was watching new episodes of Season 6 weekly, while "catching up" on the five previous seasons during the week (out of sequence). I made notes for my own referral, so I could put things into a logical sequence.

Then I noticed that on this Board some of the same questions were being asked over and over again; so, I composed a History of LOCI that supplies a lot of behind-the-scenes details of LOCI's production that aren't explained in the aired episodes/plotlines. (i.e. changes in cast, producers, writers, show's format, etc)

You can find the most recent posting (10/19/09) on the Etiquette Thread Page 23 for answers to most of the questions you have; and maybe some you never thought to ask.

(Please note, when I edit and update this every few months, I make it a new post at the end of the Thread and delete previous versions; so several months from now it may be on a page other than Etiquette Page 23)

In season 6 there were 2 episodes (I believe) that dealt with Wheeler's backstory about her father. Those scenes have since been deleted. Does anyone know which episodes they are? I just purchased Untethered on Amazon and it is the unedited version (with the ring and the "splash" comment). I'm hoping that the Wheeler episodes will also be the original versions.
