Zac has the most coolest voice! He's got that "Southern Fried Rock" quality, like Charlie Daniels. The judges are right, though. He needs to expand his horizons, change his attitude and bear down. The song will definitely take him to the top.
Here are my suggestions:
1. "Take it Easy" by Travis Tritt/The Eagles
2. "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" by the Kentucky Headhunters
I think that both of those songs are definitely taylored to his strengths.
Why do the rest of y'all think?

Good choices. I would also like to hear him sing:
Amarillo By Morning - George Strait
Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton
Always On My Mind - Willie Nelson
Midnight Special - CCR

Georgia on a Fast Train (Billy Joe Shaver)
But I'll admit that the Nashville Star theme music is somewhat similar to the intro riff of this song, so that might be a negative.

I also think the Travis Tritt songs are good choices. As well as TGB, and possibly some Billy Joe Shaver. But one of my new favorites currently is ONE WING IN THE FIRE, and I think Zac would also do a great job on that song... But I know everyone is excited about this week's original, can't wait!

Must Be Doing Something Right - Billy Currington
Nobody But Me or Goodbye Time - Blake Shelton
Stupid Boy or Rainin on Sunday- KU
Ain't Nothing About You - Brooks & Dunn
There's No Gettin Over Me - Ronnie Milsap
He's already done TGB with "Memphis Women & Chicken" so doubt it'd be good to do another of his. Something sexy, bluesy definitely suits...but he does border on rock with original music so I think much of Keith Urban would fit. I hadn't thought of Travis Tritt. I'd pick "Love of a Woman" of Travis' material. That'd be GREAT for him.
One thing....there's a world of material that suits better than Randy Owens' pick! I sure hope he makes it this week so that we can hear more.

Zac doesnt really have the "modern country" sound such as Keith Urban, Travis, etc. Though I do think he could really make "Love of a Woman" his own. His voice and what he obviously feels more comfortable in is the more bluesy/rock-country, much like T. Graham Bell, because you could see from his performance that night he was really comfortable. He has a distinct voice that doesn't lay well on many tracks from modern country. I do agree that there were tons of different song choices than Something to Be proud of...I dont know what Randy was thinkin lol. But it challegened Zac and that was actually one of my favorite performances from that night. Also, his original was WONDERFUL.

I think the choices that a lot of you have come up with for Zac to sing are great choices with Travis Tritt's songs I think that would oh be so nice, or what about him singing a little something from Cross Canadian Ragweed? Charlie Daniels would be nice too since he's sort of on that line of singing. I know he's got my vote that's for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you'll see on my post, I think that some definite T. Graham Brown stuff would REALLY rock the house. He's sooooo fit to fill those shoes. Preferrably, the song "I Tell It Like It Used To Be" just THINKING about him doing that song, makes me wanna stand up and scream "I LOVE YOU!!" lol. Honestly, I'm to the point now where, I think he could sing mary had a little lamb and still whoop the heck outta it. ROFL!!! But anyways, there's my opinion on the matter.

OK I just got chills thinking about him doing the chorus to that song...I can actually hear and picture it in my mind. Good one! Any (I hate to use the term) "power ballad" type of song with just Zac and the mic, building to a crescendo. I think he could put a contemporary twist on this one, like he did with Once In a Blue Moon. I have worn out the TiVO replaying that performance, and If It Wasn't For the Whiskey.
Also I Don't Want to Miss a Thing (Aeorsmith/Mark Chestnutt) would be good (imagine him belting out "I don't want to close my eyes...").

I absolutely loved Zac's original song... Those words rang true and brought tears to my eyes. So much like the story of my own dad ,yet his bottle of choice was a beer bottle. Anyhow , I would love to hear Zac sing some old Glen Campbell (Rhinestone Cowboy) or Waylon's "Wurlitzer Prize".. His voice is excellent and would add "flavor" to both of these classic songs. Or help me here cannot remember if it is Charlie Rich or Charley Pride at this moment "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World". I would love to hear Zac belt these out ! Hope Zac sees this and can get any one of the songs above approved, and actually does one.. It would be awesome to hear his voice on one of these songs.
Stacey from Kokomo , Indiana
P.S. I agree , country does need to return to it's roots. I cannot stand some of the new *age* country. I have a hard time getting into the female country singers of today as they tend to be screechy etc. Whatever happened to the Patsy Cline's , Tammy Wynette's etc. ? The Hanks , Roy Orbison's , Conway Twitty's or even Waylon , Willie and his boys ! As I have gotten older ( 35 for those who are curious ! LOL ) my tastes in music has changed. And unfortunately so has country music. We need more Travis Tritt's , Chris Young's , Buddy Jewell's , Josh Turner's , and the list goes on. If I have the choice I would rather hear the crying in my beer songs. Versus some of the screechy , out of tune "warblers" of today !
Also , just thought how cool it would be to hear him do Joe Cocker - Up Where We Belong or something Bob Segar too.

If he is going to sing a Travis Tritt song, I would say Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde. It was written by James LeBlanc. I would say it is more likely to be on the list he submitted in December. I have a hunch it might be what he would be singing this week. He sang it at PJ's when they played there for the homecoming. It kicked butt and everyone went crazy. I'm wondering if he played it to see what reaction it would bring. Anywho, I'll say what I'd like to hear him sing but since his list was turned in in December, there is no point in suggesting anything. I'd love to hear more T. Graham Brown, Earl Thomas Conley, maybe Copperhead Road by Steve Earle, maybe some Keith Anderson (Pickin' Wildflowers), Sawyer Brown (All These Years, Mission Temple Fireworks Stand...these are just maybes), and last but not least Sweet Home Alabama (think he might actually do pretty good on this). I don't know how good he would sound with these but I'd love to find out.
