What a crock last night was... when it was down to the three girls and Whitney got called out first I knew that Meg was history and that was a total FARCE! While I was never really hell bent on Meg winning, I am hell bent on people EARNING the right to continue and Meg definately earned it.... while others did NOT. Do we really need another Britney Spears wanna be??? People need to start thinking with their brains and not their (well you know) ohmy.gif

I think most of us know where you're coming from on this one. I don't feel like Meg got a fair shake by the judges, but most country music fans simply buy into whatever carrot is put before them and the judges know this. Each of the contestants remaining bear too much of a resemblance to a current artist. Meg was original, and I think Jewel at least recognized that. There have been so many good acts in recent years who started out strong only to be pulled down by the wolves in Nashville. Artists like Clint Black, Aaron Tippin, John Michael Montgomery, and Clay Walker all became puppets in the stupid song machine after their first two albums.

With that said, there are a lot of super-talented guys and ladies who are true artists who are still recording. I really respect the likes of Hal Ketchum, John Brannen, James House, George Ducas, Dwight Yoakam, guys who just play darn good music. Ladies like Kelly Willis, Tift Merritt, and Allison Moorer continue to keep it real.

Meg responded with such grace to every slight, and she has earned my respect for being who she was. It would be super cool if Jewel (who promoted Meg's album last night) was able to help Meg network and find a place in the niche now occupied by Jewel and Norah Jones. She is a beautiful and mature young lady who certainly deserves to be heard on her on terms in her own style.

I agree that Meg should have stayed. She is a phenominal singer compared to Whitney.
