These boards crack me up. The CI board is overall anti-shipper, while pretty much everyone over on the SVU side of things is anti- anti-shipper and the most enthusiastic pro-Elliot/Olivia ever. Crazy world.
bgcali22
Okay you guys, I'm begging not to be made fun of here. Just remember this is the first message board I've ever posted on in my entire life. But what the heck is a shipper?? I've attempted to figure this out without having to ask when obviously everyone else on here knows, but to no avail.

Good thing I am not a detective. blink.gif

No making fun!!
sharksandwich
It comes from either relationship or worship, I've seen people claim both. It's someone who supports some couple getting together in the show, a lot of the time they're couples that have no kind of intimate relationship on screen (sometimes they're characters who aren't even friends), but fanfiction writers make up stories where those characters are sleeping together. People ship anyone and everyone--real people, fictional people, people and animals, cartoon characters. It scares me, but apparently I'm a bit of a masochist and whenever I start watching a tv show I go reading through fandom sites, and don't always run away screaming from the fanfiction like I know I should.

verb: to ship
noun: shipper

There's probably a wikipedia entry on it, but I'm too lazy to check laugh.gif

If you go somewhere like fanfiction.net, you'll find that in the CI category, most people there are under the dellusion that Goren and Eames 1) should hook up or 2) are in some kind of established relationship and have been sleeping together for quite some time.

The fun thing is when the shippers try to justify their shipper-ness. They scream SUBTEXT!!1!!! at you in loud letters, and occasionally write novel-long posts (not unlike this one dry.gif ) citing all the things that make them go "squee." Once I came across someone's post somewhere in livejournal that went into great detail on why everyone should ship Goren and Eames. Which apparently is B/A for Bobby and Alex. I don't even like refering to the characters as Bobby and Alex, so reading stories about them...yeah, no way.
OliviaFan
Also the people on the svu board are like insane! A lot of them want Elliot and Olivia Together. I can see why they want that but i personally don't. Liv and El have great chemistry on screen. B/A thought? no way! They are really great friends but they should never be shipped together!

Logan and Eames however..... rolleyes.gif Well i'm not like an activist for it or anything! So know one kill me and i don't write fanfiction about it i promise!

laugh.gif (don't worry, it's a friendly laugh)
bgcali22
Thanks for the clairfication, shark! I assumed it was something about non-existent relationships on shows that people wish were existent, but I just wanted to be sure. I, like you, want to know every detail about something I'm obsessed with.

Now that I know what that is all about, here are my two cents: Goren and Eames, no way. Nooo way.
OliviaFan
your just like everyone else here!!!

Although their is this one story on Fanfiction.net that is pretty good! its why people should ship! i think it is called the S.S. acquired taste. To shippers its like a bible to non-shippers its just funny to read.

You should check it out even if you don't like shippyness! i know i sure don't like B/A.

S.S. Acquired Taste, yes, that's the one I read. Goren looking at Eames when he talks to her = they're in looooooooove!1!! Funny stuff. They go into more detail than me and those damn desk lions.
OliviaFan
is that even possible?! ohmy.gif

lol i'm re reading it now its hilarious!
sharksandwich
Goren throws the paper at Eames' chair! OMG HE MISSES HIS GIRLFRIENDSOULMATEPARTNERPERSON11!!

That's what I hated about F.P.S. The entire plot was engineered to say that Goren has had it with temporary partner lady, and wants Eames back. But even though they spent 43 minutes saying that, I don't think that's how they meant it.
OliviaFan
I liked F.P.S. i thought him throwing the paper at the chair was perfect! just not for the reasons the shipper think.

I took is as "he misses his parner" period. They have worked together for a couple of years and obviously mesh well and compliment eachother. Bishop could have been the most briliant detective (she wasnt)
and it still would have been the same...

I started this thread to see how many people would get a coronary over it HAHA...

If I wanted shipping I would post elsewhere..I like picking NITS!!!

I am soooo anti-shipper! I hate shipper stories and I have to admit that some shipper can get pretty anoying! If anyone has ever read the Harry Potter thread on the General Discussion board they'll know what I mean...too much info! Too much badgering! I've never read a Harry Potter book, I've never had a desire to. But now I really don't want to read one!

I'm done...i can't stand "shippyness"..that all I had to say.......

Yeah, he missed the person he normally works with--end of story. It was funny when she first announced the pregnancy to Deakins, and Deakins says that when it's time, he'll arrange for a temporary partner for Goren. Goren goes, "oh no, I didn't even think of that." Okay. I laughed, anyway.

I liked the first four Harry Potter books, but reading them and not being aware of internet fandom at the time definitely helped. The last two just sucked, though. And don't get me started on how much I hated the movies. Talk about ways to take a thread off topic...I'll shut up now about that.

I hated the ep, but loved that scene. Goren missed Eames because she keeps him grounded and knows the things that are going to throw him off track.
OliviaFan
Well YF in my opinion you don't know what you're missing! I love Harry Potter both the books and the movies! Well it's just my opinion but the whole shipper stuff on them doesn't bother me! But i personally like Harry/Ginny that doesn't mean you have too!

I also love Gilmore Girls but don't even get me started about that kind of shipping! I could go on for hours and the last episode that they showed! OMG LUKE! Lorilie! Chris!!.... right so back on topic my point was that in Gilmore girls it's all about who is with who and how good they are and it's not really a soap opera but it is sorta like one. Where as CI is a crime Drama as such relationships should not be the stand point.

So B/A shouldn't exist for obvious reasons but also because it would ruin the show.
Where as Olivia And Elliot in svu.. well i don't like them but they have great chemistry! biggrin.gif
Skeptic007
Count me in with the anti-shippers, especially regarding Goren and Eames. I really don't care about SVU one way or another so whether Olivia and Elliott get it on doesn't matter to me. I watched a few epis but stopped. All the personal stuff, especially with Stabler, turned me off. I sure hope LOCI doesn't go there. And I hope and expect that LOCI won't invent a romance for Goren and Eames. They are partners, he missed her in F.P.S. and that's it. No drama--please.

I am sure it never will. It's not the "winning formula".

I like svu with its personal stuff. But i like CI for having less personal stuff.
2 different shows and so they have 2 different formats.
I love them both! biggrin.gif

I actually don't understand why in the world this subforum was created. I don't think that it should be called Shippers only...because I'm not exactly a shipper....

why did all of this change happen. I don't think that I can handle it...

Well now that we are segratated and everyone is starting to make new shipping threads, here are a few we haven't thought about.

Riche and Jefferies?
Wheeler and Goren?
Wheeler and Eames?
Goren and Logan?
Logan and Ross?
Logan and Rodgers?
Ross and McCoy?
McCoy and Eames?
McCoy and Wheeler?
McCoy and Rodgers?
Logan and Eames?
Ross and Goren?
Chief of D's and Ross?
Chief of D's and Eames?
Chief and Wheeler?
I don't think Logan and Goren get along with the Chief, but who knows
Chief and Rodgers and Ross?
Chief and Rodgers and Ross and McCoy?

Ok if yall really want to go crazy, lets not start a thread on crazy couplings, we could just discuss them here don't yall think? But hey, that's just MY opinion, which really doesn't mean anything, I know somepeople really like to see their NAMES on the board for starting topics.

Well, COD's and Ross has potential. I mean, you have the whole tension at work thing that can bring heat to a relationship. It worked for Joyce Davenport and Frank Furillo on Hill Street Blues--maybe we could get a bathtub scene with the Chief and Ross. And then Ross dealing with Rodger's jealousy has possibilities.

Although, it seems to me that I have seen Riche and Jefferies exchanging a look across their desks. Of course, the camera is usually on Bobby so its hard to focus on what's going on at the next set of desks. But I think a Riche and Jefferies hookup has potential.

Chief of Dee's and Ross in a bathtub scene.

How do I get THAT vision out of my head, ciaddict? tongue.gif

I am for The chief, Rodgers and Ross triangle myself, would love to see Ross and Chief fight for their woman. Then Rodgers could say, she was doing it just to get Goren jealous, she must be impressed with Goren's skill, I mean, who could see brick dust up a dead man's nose, that takes talent, that has got to make her hot.

Ahhh, yes, the Methodist potluck -- 20 boxes of fried chicken, 16 platters of sliced ham and 10 dishes of green bean casserole! lol, I remember those from my childhood, and fried chicken, ham and green bean casserole seemed to be the most popular dishes people would bring. My church now doesn't do pot-luck, they just pay a lady to cook a meal.......I miss those pot-lucks........we do a 5th Sunday Coffee and have people bring brunch stuff, so I guess we have "pot-luck brunch"?

sounds good to me! We don't have them very often, our church has gotten too big for it. But on special occasions, we do. And the pastor usually makes some comment, like 'just grab some pizzas' or 'doesn't fried chicken sound good' and guess what we have at the potluck----lots of pizza or fried chicken.

Personally, I have to agree. Boby and Alex like each other. It may be more Bobby than Alex, but no matter. And yes, this ship is definitely an acquired taste. Bobby is not an easy guy to figure out, and would probably be even more difficult to be in a relationship with. But Alex has it down. This ship is a lot more difficult than many others, in the fact that he really is psycho, and she's not quite sure how to deal with him, but that only makes it even better. It may not even really be physical live Elliot/Olivia is, but I'd take Bobby/Alex over E/O any day of the week. It's just so much more interesting and difficult and deep.

I just read the casting call for the upcoming Goren/Eames episode called "Framed". I am ignoring the title. Anyways there is a role for a woman to play the as inn keeper at a bed and breakfast that Goren checks into while investigating a crime. Shipper mode kicks in. In my shipper land it is for him and Eames to get away and well, reconnect.
