I am a newbie and could not find anything on Stephanie March, playing Alex Cabot. I miss her - does anyone have any idea whether or not they will ever bring her back into the storyline?
benson
first off welcome to the board i'm Benson, and they haven't said anything about bringing Steph back anytime soon.

I miss her too, but I dont think Diane Neal is going anywhere. Plus, I dont think people come out of the witness protection program and go to a former job.
I would be nice if she had some sort of guest appearance and "visited" incognito. (sp?)

If you're a Stephanie March fan you can see her in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (briefly), "Conviction" (13 episodes) and she recently guest starred in "30 Rock" on NBC.

In the TV Guide I received today, there was an article on Stephanie March’s return to SVU. Since I cannot seem to find a specific topic about her return then here it goes...

MARCH MADNESS: No, SVU isn’t trotting out ancient reruns: After three years in witness protection, ADA Alexander Cabot (Stephanie March) has returned to the squeam-inducing job of prosecuting sex crimes for six episodes. “It has been strangely relaxing,” March, who left in 2003, says of her homecoming. “It’s nice to be paid to hang out with people whom I’d otherwise schedule dinner dates with.” Another perk? Mixing it up with big name guest stars, including Carol Burnett, appearing tonight as an over-the-hill dancer who uses senility as a defense. “She’s TV royalty,” says March. “The woman is professional! She just makes everybody look good.” As for whether March’s redux could turn into something more permanent, she’s pleading the fifth: “I don’t even know what they are going to do, but they generally don’t kill people off who show up for work on time. They gotta keep the easy actors around!”

Was she on the Today show this morning? I thought someone posted at 7AM, but I didn't see her when I was getting ready!

Nevermind...I found it on YT!

When asked about the possibility of her stay going beyond the six episodes, Stephanie said that "if a bunch of people watch it, maybe." God, I hope so...

Another new interview with Stephanie...also a mention of how Mariska is doing on there.

Stephanie March Talks About SVU
MunchzHunch
I didnt see this on the board, but there are places to talk about Olivia, Elliot, Casey, so why not have a forum to discuss the favorite ADA of all times? Well, here it is....this is a place to talk about ADA Alexandra Cabot to your heart's content. SVU and Conviction talks welcome and encouraged!

Talk your hearts out!!!

Okay so, I was watching the episodes where Alex is back in Season 10 and I notice she is wearing what appears to be a wedding ring and band. Now, I know she was engaged in Conviction, but that show has been over for 3 years, so why is she wearing a wedding ring or engagement ring or whatever in the episodes in Season 10? I know Stephanie March is married, but as her character she wouldnt be wearing wedding/engagement rings. Did anyone else notice this when they saw her in Season 10?
Comrade_Frostbite
The ring is on her right ring finger, not the left.

No, watch Liberties when the trial starts and the defense counsel calls a sidebar to tell the judge his client is on a hunger strike. Alex's hands are on the judge's bench and the rings are on her left finger. That's why I asked if anyone else noticed this because I thought it was strange; they are clearly wedding rings.

She is married, maybe she forgot to either take them off or switch hands. Good catch...

Oh I know Stephanie March is married which is why I thought it was weird she was wearing her wedding rings as Alex Cabot, who, if you saw Conviction, was seen without her engagement ring when she was engaged to Robert! LOL

Conviction wasn't my favorite show, but now that you mention it, I remember that. That would be cool if the were to write Robert in the SVU story-line...

I LOVED Conviction, but....it was a totally different Alex Cabot. It was like....same name, same height, same blonde hair, blue eyes, and the infamous Cabot glasses, but...other than that a totally different Alex, know what I mean? The Alex Cabot on Conviction did and said things that we would NEVER see from her on SVU. It was strange to see her in Conviction, even though I adored the show (heartbroken it only lasted a year!), and then back on the set of SVU totally different. There are just so many distinct differences I picked up on doing a character analysis of Cabot and they are uncanny.

As far as writing Robert into the show, I was thinking more along the lines of writing Jim Steele into the show, and I think some guest appearances by the other Conviction cast members would be cool. Like show a scene with Alex, Olivia, Munch, Fin and Cragen having drinks at a local bar after a really tough case they just won, and have like Jessica and Nick or Billy and Brian show up or something. Orrrrrr better yet, have Robert show up with his new wife! Haha now THAT would be an episode!!! It might also allow Alex to open up about her time away from SVU and talk about her time as Bureau Chief, which I never even got the title of that...DA's office, right? But was she still an ADA since she came back to SVU as one? Or is Bureau Chief a higher position than ADA? See where the overlap of Conviction Alex Cabot and SVU Alex Cabot comes into play?

You have to ask hisgirl about the ADA or BC jobs...I don't know how that works...

Conviction to me was really hard to follow...I just didn't get into it...I really don't know/remember anyone from the show except Alex. But, it would be nice to see....

I looked up Bureau Chief and stuff online and still am quite confused lol

I just started watching Conviction actually and have seen all 13 episodes...again, and again and again. I remember it when it first came on, but had no idea Stephanie March was playing Alex Cabot, I thought it was just another job for her when she left SVU, so I never watched it in 2006.

Conviction was one of those shows where you didnt necessarily have to see the episode before or the episode after to understand it in its entirety. Some things, yes, like for example when Nick Potter got mugged and issues for him came up in later episodes, if you never saw him get mugged, you wouldnt have a clue what the flashbacks were about or what the issues for him were that stemmed from his mugging. I wish it kept going because, come on, I dont think we're going to get ANY dirt on Alex Cabot from SVU...Conviction was our big shot! And it was taken away from us! sad.gif

I honestly have no clue when it was on, but yeah Friday's are tough spots for any show. I thought Dick Wolf decided to pull the show not the network? I remember an interview Stephanie did where she talked about the wrap party at the end of the 1st season and she walked in and people were coming up to her and saying stuff like, "Sorry about your show", she had no idea! It was a candid interview, but I was like, "Wow, that must have sucked walking into that with no advanced warning!"

I'm sorry it got booted, too, it would have been nice to continue getting the inside scoop on Alex. Maybe next season we will see a little more into her life after WPP?? Hmm..... :-P
MunchzHunch
Oh and ya know what was also so strange about Alex on Conviction v. Alex on SVU? SVU they call her Alex, and the occassional judge will call her Alexandra or Miss. Cabot, but on Conviction NO ONE called her Alex. It was "Alexandra", or "Cabot", and the occassional "Al" from Jim Steele, but I don't think I heard "Alex" come out of anyone's mouth on that show, not even when she introduced herself to someone new, she introduced herself as "Alexandra Cabot". Wicked weird since everyone on SVU is the exact opposite, calling her "Alex". I just thought that, too, was funny and depicts the huge difference between the same character, just on two different shows doing two different jobs. Funny.
