Tim picked a song that did not showcase his vocal range. He is a kickass guitar player, but should have focused on vocals. There is no doubt in my mind that Tim is a star. Unfortunately, he just didn't shine last night.

I dissagree! I think his vocals were just fine. I have heard Tim do that song many times and it is very difficult vocally as well as instrumentally and I think he nailed it.

In my humble opinion, when you have 2 minutes to perform - spoken word for half of the performance is not the way to go. I've heard Tim perform this live also - and he kicks ass. BUT... It is not the best example of his talent.

I think it was a poor song choice as well.. Theres some songs that have been beat to death over time, and that is one of em.. I was hoping he'd stay tho, as I wanted to see more sourthern rock influence in the upcoming shows.

TIM chose that song for a reason. Maybe someday he will let us know why. Unfortunately it will probably be when we have to pay $75 a seat to see him play.

It was definitely a poor choice for the first round. The judges have never been fond of pure musical talent rather than really strong vocals. He should have sang his butt off and saved the fireworks for a later time. Trying to showcase hot licks rather than singing for the first song isn't a good idea in a competition that has always been about being a strong vocalist. That's not what Nashville Star is about. Besides as good as Tim is he isn't going to dazzle people accustomed to hearing the likes of Brent Mason and other super hot session guys, he's a good guitarist not a great guitarist from what I saw.

Tim is a wicked awesome guitarist!!!!

What if he had picked a song focusing on his vocals and the judges didn't like him. No one would have ever seen some of the rest of him.

I could go on forever defending Tim's choices, but I won't.

I won't, because he does not need defending.

I think Tim was put on the show as the "token old person" and then they freaked because they realized how well he connected with the fans. Tim is wicked awesome, but he sure isn't the NashVegas cookie cutter crud they are producing right now.

WSG rolleyes.gif : I don't know if I agree with all of your reasons. The "token old person" is questionable. I think that it's a tie between Tim and Angela regarding "percieved" age". Tim and Angela seemed more mature in there interviews, but Tims energy on stage was more youthful. I am not in the industry but one thing that I did notice was that the camera shots were well done. The red strobe light during the instrumentation and the bands fiddle player in the left corner, were well done. Facial shots and the ending with looking up the guitar was cool. Last, was the rebel flag placed on the side of the guitar. Was that not planned? Hope that your enjoying the CD's. Stay safe. smile.gif

The only mistake Tim made was making what he did look easy....
