Full Version: Who Should Have Gone Instead Of Tim?
USA Network Forums > Past Programs > Nashville Star > Season 5 Contestants > Tim LaRoche

After seeing the performance, I still don't think Tim should have been the one to leave. His vocals weren't as strong as I'd hoped, but he was pure magic on the guitar. One of the guys had to go. Who should it have been? Personally, I think Joshua Stevens.
Sheila88
I think the blonde who sang 2nd to last or the last guy to sing(can't remember their names) should have been voted off... Tim did a real great job putting himself out there.. He has the heart and soul of the music.... He just needed to pick a better song to sing so they could of heard more of his beautiful voice.. and maybe alittle less guitar...(which again he is awsome at)....Tim should not have been voted off last night.....and I think that we should e-mail or write to Nashville Star and let them know what a BIG MISTAKE they made...... if they can bring back "Brad Cotter" by demand then they can bring back "TIM LaROCHE"..
We love you Tim ...... Keep up the great work!!

Sadly, it doesn't work that way. The year Brad Cotter was "brought back", the voters were given a pool of 5 from which to vote and Brad won.

You're agreeing with me about Joshua Stevens smile.gif.

I think the marine should have gone.........I know the judges are dumb to say he could win the show......he was terrible.
LloydfromAthol
I don't think the marine guy was all that great.

Maybe Tim should have picked a better song, but he kicked ass doing it and wasn't the worst performance of the night.

He should still be on the show.

He doesn't need the show anyway. All those shows (Nashville Star, American Idol, etc) they all want a certain look and sound, even if it's not what the public wants.

Tim will be big, just watch.

By the way, what has happened with the past winners, I haven't heard of any of them. Way to go Nashville what star?

You are right to a certain extent. Buddy's first CD went gold, not fantastic, but certainly respectable. There are various stories about what happened after that and I haven't been able to confirm so I won't repeat.

Brad flat threw it away sad.gif. He was badly in the bottle at the time he won and acted like a jerk towards the label and the fans. He's since done rehab and one would hope he can find some form of success still.

Erika Jo was on Universal South when they were going through a huge managerial upheaval. She never got any promotion, but there are still rumors of a 2nd CD.

Keep an eye on Chris Young. He was the highest selling debut male vocalist of 2006. He's playing the Opry on a routine basis and they've asked him to do a 3rd song twice now (almost unheard of). He's also booked for all 3 Country Thunders, the Country Stampede and our Country Roundup. His second single is due out after the first of Feb. His first broke the top 40, but didn't receive the promotion it deserved.

not trying to stir up anything but joshua stevens is a great singer, not my taste or style but was one of the best of the males. i think Dustin (the marine) or zack hacker should have gone, they both pretty much sucked. TIM ROCKED.

and let me add the first people that should have been removed
1) aneststia (however you spell it) who the hell is she anyway, the only thing i could find out is that shes married to some one in the music business and thinks shes the hottest thing out there, and to her looks are everything, to bad she really looks like a mexican gutter slut (no offense mexico) what an ignorant witch

2)blake Shelton- must be nice for your uncle to get you a record deal, good thing you didnt have to do it on yuor own. really i dont have anything against blake but he hasnt even been around long enough to be considered a fly by night yet, he couldnt even pay enough attention to find out if tim could sing, great pick of a judge here

3) Randy Owen--well not much you can say, the man has sold 73million albums and has had a30 year long career (give or take) but he and his band are all vocalists and it seems that singing is the only thing he cares about, besideshow long has it been since hes had a hit.

that would be my picks for who should have gone first.

GREAT JOB PICKING JUDGES NASHVILLE STAR. YOU ALL A BUNCH OF WINNERS...... NOT.................

Yeah Im still reeling from the fact that we wont see Tim anymore on NS, but I feel confident that this is only going to be his jumping off point and he's going places. Loved his post he wrote to all over on the main board, what a class act.
I'm in agreement with you too Della, about who I personally would have liked to have seen go packing.
As bad as I felt about Tim leaving, I really feel awful for all his close friends and family who wanted it so badly for him, and you can just feel that right here in this forum. Yall just keep on supporting him and getting his name out there. We will too. I'm looking forward to tracking his success! GO TIM!!!!

If Randy Owen isn't qualified to be a judge on Nashville Star...then I'm at a loss. As far as Blake Shelton goes, who is his uncle? He has THREE Gold Records to his credit and THREE number one singles in his career. I'd hardly call him fly by night.

Wow, I guess you have to hate the show to get any response.

Well I am a mobile DJ and have over 3,000 CD's at my house and don't own any of the mentioned names here and have not had 1 request for anyof them either.

A CD going Gold now a days isn't really all that difficult or that rare anymore. It isn't as bigof a deal as it would have been say 20 or 30 years ago. There are lots of artists out there that sell gold and even platinum records but it dsoesn't mean they will have a long career or even be well known.

Which is why I said Buddy's gold album wasn't fantastic wink.gif. Ya need to add "Chris Young" to your collection. He's only 21 and has plenty of time to make it big.

Countryhater (what a unique screen name for this board), you are completely entitled to your opinion about Josh smile.gif. His performance just flat didn't do it for me. I think Tim should have had his slot.

Since that's who I'm predicting will leave this week......... OTOH, I'm usually wrong in those predictions tongue.gif.

My Guess is that, they will try to keep the Brother Sister act around for as long as they can, Sibling rivalry is great for ratings.

Who are they? If brother and sister don't receive the least amount of votes, they'll be around as long as that happens. Unless you have a theory that votes don't count.

I totally disagree. While Joshua isn't the worst singer I've heard, out of the male compeditors is who I would have chosen. He was straining for a lot of notes, he should have picked a song that more suited his range. All the other compeditors sang songs within their vocal range. Joshua should have been the one who was let go.

"Countryhater" maybe it's meant to be read "Hat-er" ????

I think Josh should've been the one to go! I've known Tim since he was a young boy and he's worked hard. He'll make it on his own. He's got more spirit than any of these other contestants.

I just rewatched his video just to make sure, and my mistake, it wasn't his range that was the problem, he never had enough breath to finish his notes. He was gasping for air after many sections of the verse. I bet he'll be the one to go this week.

I would have to check to be sure but I think Miranda has had the most success so far and when compaired to Carrie NS has done nothjing with any of the contestants so far. Hell look at Kellie from AI last year. As far back as she was and I still hear her song on the radio all the time.NS needs to do some promoting and have a label that will push the winners.I know Brad had an alcohol problem but what happened with Buddy? I still firmly believe Ran should have won season number one and Buddy should have been third.I hear JAM every once in a while on the radio but he is the only one other than Ran and Chris. I think if they promoted Chris he could really be big but I dont see it happening and it's a shame. mad.gif

I'm not sure who should have been voted off that night but I do know it shouldn't have been Tim. I think the judges are afraid of change. Tim has a style that is different than what we have today and I think it's great. I love the southern rocker look. I think we need to bring back that look and sound and Tim has it. Tim keep your head up hun. You're a winner in my books and I know there are alot of other people out there that feel the same as I do. I think the judges don't know talent anymore I mean they still have Meg Allison on the show and that girl can't carry a tune in a bucket. She needs to be voted off. Bring back Tim. Tim you're gonna go along way. You're going to show them judges that YOU ARE the NEXT NASHVILLE STAR. Keep doing what you do best...God Bless You
reissue
Even though I enjoyed Tim's performance I felt he deserved to go and I knew he'd be gone at the end of the show. Not because he is a bad performer but he just didn't open with a performance that would lock it in for him. As a 25 year guitarist I appreciate his talent but he should have known that historically the judges tend to pass on musicianship in favor of strong vocal skills. He should have saved the guitar fireworks for a later time and tried to get his foot in the door with a strong vocal performance, Nashville Star is all about being a frontman not a hot shot guitarist. To me it was a no brainer.

My OPINION is that the kid with the bleach blond hair and the brother of the sibling act should have gone first. I loved the sister.

Yes he is going places, but this is not his jumping off point. He jumped the first time he left Athol.

I TOTALLY believe (and i said it before) that Tim and the people around him knew what they were doing when he picked that infamous song. Did you see the other contestants stamping their feet as he played. They didn't get into any other song like they did that one.

I haven't been around in a bit. I haven't seen the show since the first one. Someone needs to remind me that it replays at 1 a.m. I think. I drive to work from 10-11 pm and can't catch the first run. I am grateful I have no one I want to vote for. laugh.gif
