I dont know if anyone is familiar with Vincent D'Onofrios movie Guy or not, but in case you do and are aware of how rare the movie is, you will be amused to know that that movie, on VHS, with a press kit, just sold on Ebay for over $300 !! I have paid a decent amount of monie for something rare, but man, I've never paid more than $20 for a movie. CRAZY !!!

It's a very unusual, very disturbing film that features a magnificent performance by Mr. D'Onofrio. I think it's gained a reputation as some kind of dangerous or censored film over the years. While it's psychologically troubling, it doesn't contain anything worse than most 'R' rated films, and it was more the victim of poor distribution than censorship. But there are a lot of people who'll spend a lot of money to get a copy of it because they're film buffs, fans of the director, or fans of Mr. D'Onofrio.
I wish someone would release it on DVD, both to get it to a wider audience, and to end this price gouging.

I know sooooooo many people that would buy it if it was released on dvd, getting copies of copies is ridiculous. Granted this was an original, but still, thats too much for a movie.
Naked Tango is listed right now and with 4 days left its at almost $200. Crazy

I just re-watched this episode of Homicide : Life on the Street. This is just such an amazing episode and it totally breaks your heart. VDO's performance is incredible. Any Vincent fan who hasn't seen this should!

You'll have to look for it on DVD or VHS. "Homicide: Life on the Street" is no longer on the air and I am not sure if anyone is showing reruns at this time. Because I love VDO, I purchased the video on Amazon. It was in the 6th season of the series. Hope that helps.

Homicide: Life on the Street was last shown regularly on Court TV channel, although episodes that are part of crossovers with Law & Order have appeared on TNT, so maybe they will eventually show the rest of the series. The episode "Subway" also appeared (in its entirety) in an episode of Nova on PBS, which I think was called "The Making of a Television Series." If I see "Subway" on the TV schedule in any form, I'll post it.

Hi all VDO fans,
If you haven't seen the movie "Happy Accidents" with VDO and Marisa Tomei, it will be on the Independent Film Channel Friday Feb. 24 at 5 AM and 11:30 AM Pacific time (8 AM and 2:30 PM Eastern). I fell hard for Vincent when I saw him in this! In addition to that, it's an awesome film.

Can anyone tell me which disk number from Season Six DVD of the Homicide Life on the Street's has the VDO "Subway" episode? Blockbuster rents the entire season but only one disk at a time. I didn't see episode lists in the description.

It is a terrific film--a little long perhaps, and a little too proud of being an independent film--but really sweet and kind. And for once Mr. D'Onofrio gets to play the hero of a film. He's, dare I say, cute. And sweet and funny.

There's a videotape of the episode and the documentary, although I don't know if it's still available commercially. The documentary is really fascinating, and has some interesting commentary from Mr. D'Onofrio. It is funny, though, that one of the great concerns from the show's crew is whether their sets are going to be big enough for Mr. D'Onofrio.

He plays a man who is pushed under a subway train. He isn't killed right away, but is dying and can't be moved. The detective played by Andre Braugher (a magnificent actor)interviews him to try to find out who might have pushed him, and it slowly dawns on Mr. D'Onofrio's character that he's essentially a dead man.

It is the 7th episode of the season (episode # 84). If it is like the CI discs, there are 4 episodes to a side.
I don't know if that helps?

It is worth buying if you can find it. There are alot of things that I had to question on my first time thru it. (meaning the commentary). He had a few glasses of wine during the taping of it (commentary) so you hear the "F" word a couple times. Pretty funny.

Has anyone seen this movie? I noticed it was playing on Sundance Channel and watched a few minutes of it. On imdb.com he is listed as starring and producing, and it's from 1997, the same year he guested on Homicide . In the film, somebody is following him around and making a documentary about his life, a la edTV . It didn't look like he was happy about it (the character, that is).

GUY is a very disturbing, compelling film with Mr. D'Onofrio portraying a man who finds himself the subject of a supposed documentary film maker. It's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, and Mr. D'Onofrio's performance is amazing.

the only time i ever saw vdo in action before CI was his small role in JFK, so i identify him most as bobby
i saw Claire Dolan this weekend, WOW! he doesn't show up until about 30 mins into the movie, but he packs a punch when he shows up, shows a softer side to vdo, graphic scenes so mature audiences only, but if you get a chance rent it

I seen him in a sew movies out side of CI like Mystic Pizza, Feeling Minasota, Dying Young, Men in Black, The Nuton Boys Melcom X, Happy Accidents, and Full Metal Jacket, and the one i loved him most in was Full Metal Jacket he was so crazy and he had this domimonic look on and it's like Ahh run he's lost it even though he was a jerk in the movie you actually felt sorry for him boy he put on a lot of weight for that movie it's a 1986 movie it's really good .

Was it you that posted about the Cell being on tv? Maybe that was a while ago.

Jan 2 2007, 07:28 PM
The Cell aired Dec. 28...so yeah, that was a while ago.
i recently watched "whole wide world" and he was perfect in the role of bob howard. it's a different kind of movie, so it might not be for everyone... (chick flick, perhaps?) but if you like the wild and animated bobby on l&o:ci, you'd probably like this. the extra features has an interview with renee zellweger and the director where they gush about vincent. it was cute.
oh... duh... i've also seen "case of evil" or whatever it was. CRAP movie. d'onofrio makes a good, eccentric, and flamboyant prof. moriarty, but it certainly wasn't as entertaining as watching a l&o:ci episode. sherlock was a complete drip. his drippyness may have run off on our vincent for this one.
pooh. not recommended unless you're just looking to do some oogling.
and there's nothing wrong with that.

Just in case anyone doesnt already know, you can go to
www.imdb.com and search under an actor or movie. It also gives personal stats and trivia...my fave is the section where they have the goofs.
I dont think there is enough time to watch all his movies (there are a ton!) So I just go by what others have commented on.
BY the way! He did a movie called The Velocity of Gary in which he plays a bisexual porn star who eventually dies of aids...apparently not his best movie but some really hot guy on guy action with Thomas Jane (you can find it on youtube) I cant believe how versitile this guy is, you never know what you will get.
I cant wait to watch the Homicide; life on the streets eppy with him.

My son was surprised at the variety of movies VDO has been in and that he hadn't realised that he was Bobby Goren from LOCI.
My personal favourites:
BARK - DR MALCOLM. when he first appears you're wandering who that weird guy is in the background.
THUMBSUCKER -MIKE COBB. Love the interaction with the son, especially at the end.
NEWTON BOYS -The film lifts up a notch when DOCK arrives on the scene.
Special Mention:
MIB - EDGAR. A 'What the..' riveting performance.
All Time Favourite:
FEELING MINNESOTA. SAM CLAYTON deadly sibling rivalry wilth Keanu as Jjaks.
Standing Ovation:
HOMICIDE. Life on the Streets. SUBWAY Episode. JOHN LANGE. Brilliant portrayal of a doomed man.

I love the part in men in black, where "Edger" goes back into the house after the alien puts on the Edger suit, and asks for sugar water... that part has got to be one of the funniest parts in the movie.(and for those of you who don't remember, Edger is vdo's charecters name in the movie.)

I was somewhat young when i first saw that movie, so whenever i saw vdo, i would say "Look! It's Edger!" and ppl would be like, "Who is Edger?" only my mom knew who i was talking about. When i was really little, that's how i would remember actors and actresses (sp?) was what i first saw them in. like Pierce Brosnan in Dante's Peak, he was "Dante's Peak Dude"

Oh. My favorite all time movie of his is Happy Accidents. I especially like the part where the parents are like, "Where did you go to college?" and he replied, "I didn't have to go to college. They injected everything I needed to know in my forehead when I was two." The looks on their faces was hilarious. My favorite fit on him would have to be Naked Tango. I think that look gave him a very...hmmm...sinister appearance. Scared me very badly, I'll tell you that. Didn't even recognize him at first. I can't believe he shot himself in the head in Full Metal Jacket. But, knowing me and how he was treated in that movie, I probably would have too. Okay, I'm going to stop before I get too carried away.
