ABOUT PEARL HARBOR:
On a quiet Sunday morning in December, squadrons of Japanese war planes screamed across the skies of Hawaii and launched a surprise attack on the U.S. armed forces at Pearl Harbor -- the infamous day that jolted America from peaceful isolationism to total war, and altered the course of world history.
The story is told through the eyes of two boyhood friends, Rafe (Ben Affleck) and Danny (Josh Hartnett), as they are caught up in the events that draw the United States into World War II.
When Rafe joins the Royal Air Force, he leaves his new love, Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale), and best friend Danny behind. Danny and Evelyn are transferred separately to the Hawaii, where they eventually meet through a connection to Rafe, who has been affirmed missing. But just as the love triangle begins to get complicated, Dec. 7, 1941 arrives, changing all of their lives forever.

Why was Pearl Harbor crammed into a 3 hour time slot Saturday evening when its running time (without commercials) is already a little over 3 hours? The movie was horribly edited and should not have been aired (in my opinion) unless a longer time slot was allowed for it to run in. I understand that standards and practices have to be adhered to in terms of explicit content, but why severely edit a movie for time's sake?
On the other hand, USA has done a great job of showing classic movies without cutting them so badly such as The Enforcer, Magnum Force, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Gauntlet, Deliverance, Blazing Saddles along with many others both old and new. Thank you for showing these movies while maintaining their integrity.
