Yes, it’s true. This past week I made a 62 year old woman cry. But before you think up some nasty names for me, read on.
I had the fortune of being in Nashville when Chris Young’s cd was released. No biggie for some of you – but I live in Ontario, Canada and the timing for me to be in Nashville at the right time was pretty miraculous, in my books.
Without going into all the details, my trip was the best time ever. The initial intent of my trip was to see Keith Urban in Atlanta, which I did. But now that I am home and when people ask me about my trip, I always start off with “I saw Chris Young sing at the Opry”. There were other equally memorable moments of spending time with Chris and his family and extended family – but just hearing Chris sing was pure heaven. Oh, and yes, he personally signed my cd with the dedication to "SweetCaroline" (sweet!!!!)
Okay – what was my point of this post? Oh yes – the crying woman.
After I got home from Nashville, I was perusing myspace one night and read a post from a Canadian woman who could not locate a copy of Chris Young’s cd in Canada. The post tugged at my heart strings as I could relate to her frustration. I checked out the woman’s profile and as fate would have it, she lived in the exact same city as I do. She described herself as "an older person" and a fan of country music.
Well, I knew I had pre-ordered several more copies of Chris’ cd and would be receiving delivery imminently. I made a snap decision and emailed the woman and told her that I would make sure she got a copy of Chris Young’s cd.
The response from the woman was one of reluctance. She was hesitant to believe that I actually lived in her city and that I was a Chris Young fan who had an extra copy of the cd.
I assured the woman I was being truthful and told her I would email her when the cd’s arrived and we could meet up. Sure enough, the cd’s arrived and I emailed her to make arrangements to meet at a local Timmy’s (Tim Horton’s coffee shop for those out of the know).
I walked into the coffee shop, and saw this woman sitting in the corner, anxiously watching every person who walked in the door. I walked near her and casually leaned over and placed the cd on her table, and then I turned to order a coffee. I snuck a peek back and stopped in my tracks. Tears were streaming down the woman’s face as she held the cd in front of her like a treasured heirloom. I swallowed quickly – holding back my own tears as I watched the woman turn the cd over and read the songs. She then hugged the cd against her chest, looked toward me and mouthed “thank you…thank you”.
Thank you Chris Young for bringing this woman into my life. She is a very special fan of yours and I am now proud to call Sharon my new friend.

I've cried in Timmy's too, but it was when I forget to add hot water to that powerful coffee before I take the first slurp.
But seriously, that was so sweet! How did she know about Chris in the first place, must have been from watching the show?
I have hesitanted from answering Becky's questionaire on the CD because so far I only have one copy and that is because LucyMac let me know where to buy it online. I keep checking Best Buy because I keep thinking everyday that they hqave got to start selling it north of the US border. But so far no luck.

* Reaches for a tissue (and not because of the cold).
Thank you so very much for sharing this with us all.
Remember everything happens for a reason, even though we may not understand the reasoning...
There's a reason you meet this woman and there's a reason why helpin her have her first copy of CY's CD. And that reason is because Chris' music touches so many people and its the PEOPLE who find a way to make sure EVERYONE has the chance to hear it.
Sweet ya give this lady a BIG huge from another CY fan.

Pat, I have had correspondence with both BestBuy and FutureShop trying to get them to sell the cd in Canada, but the responses have been "not at this time". I did find that Sunrise Records has their music shop online and you can order Chris' cd - but be prepared to pay nearly triple the US rate! Yeah - with the higher cost and shipping - woohoo!! I ended up having my preorders through spun.com and thought I was doing great on the initial price and shipping - then that danged Canada Customs dinged me an additional $20.00. LOL My next copies are coming from a visit to Port Huron, MI. Yeah - there will be more purchases.

What a sweet story, Caroline! As a 60-something woman myself, I was prepared to do battle when I saw the title of this thread. Glad that won't be necessary.

Carolyn;
I got my copy very painlessly from mymusic.com Lucymac posted about it because she found it useful in ordering music from Canada in the US. I keep checking Best Buy, but I will also do what you did and contact them. Maybe if they start hearing from more of us they may smarten up.

I have an idea for ya'll who are North of the border. I live in the U.P. about three hours from Sault St. Marie. I would be willing to buy copies of the CD and send them out to ya'll (Just pay for the CD and shipping).
If anyone's interested just let me know.
