I'm new here, so I am not sure how this works? But I wondered if TV SHOW creators/producers actually check the show message boards to see what fans have to say about shows and why they like them and such? I hope the SVU people in charge do because I NEED to say--until Law and Order SVU came along I was TOTALLY an emotional mess!
I Need the entire team of producers, actors, directors, etc. to Know that I am an actual Real Life Special Victim Survivor (Marital Rape & assualt) and if it had not been for SVU I don't believe I could have survived as well as I have come to-today! KUDOS to ALL. I admire and Praise ALL the Great work Everyone does! I actually forced myself to watch the show when It first premiered... and I told myself that this act would be the most affordable means of *Special therapy* that I could manage to afford. Yet, after
watching every weekly episode, I could feel myself becoming a stronger and more calmer young woman from the one who had a hard time believing that such a horrendous and horific CRIME could have happened to me--especially by a guy I Thought in my mind I could trust; my own Husband! It was horrible, But I have to confess, that from Day one, Law & Order Special victims Unit, has been an extremely beneficial and Highly reccommended show that I can totally stand behind and support for having helped me tremendously to become a better and stronger survivor of the more unusual *Special Crime Event* which I survived.
To Dick Wolf and All of the Dedicated and detailed Researchers and Everyone at L&O: SVU Thank you for helping this survivor! KUDOS! and Please, keep up the fantastic and helpful work; because, believe me, If your program could help Me work through a traumatic ordeal such as Rape/sexual assault and psychological terrorizing are, I am certain there are other individuals out in the world who are trying to work through the same as I did, or through a *special* incident which is unique to them and their situations. In fact, I consider myself a Rape/sexual Assualt Victim's Advocate Now! Thanks for a Great show!
PS. Does anyone else think Stephanie March and (actress)- Rachel Harris look like they could be sisters?

i was watching the bonus features on the season 1 DVD and they said how many people after watching the show came out to the real special victims unit and told them they have been raped or abused.
i think this show has helped a lot of people get threw tough times and come out and say it.

lovely93 - It sounds like you and a few of the others here are taking the stories too much to heart. Not that you shouldn't be wary of situations that can get bad, but that you get wigged out at every man looking at you or thinking there's a bad man around every corner.
My best recommendation is to get into a self-defense class - one that not only teaches physical moves, but mental ones too. That will help with the feelings you are talking about and will allow you to be observant without being hyper-vigilant about it. Because putting too much stress upon yourself can actually diminish the value of that vigilance.
svSurvivor41 - I'm so sorry you went through this, but I'm glad that you're working on getting through it all. I'm sure you're getting the help you need to deal with the physical, emotional, mental and financial fallout from your attacks, and I hope it continues to get you stronger and stronger.
I don't know if the producers check out this site, but I'm sure they'd read a letter if you wanted to send it to the NBC offices in New York.
Take care.

well i dont think you can give her advice because shes not choosing between something, ya know its something that happened and cant take back, so i suggest to call her see hows she doing but dont not mention wat u read at first, wait some time and then talk to her about it, but i think u should just stay out of this and if she needs help or advice she'll ask for it.............
