I know you all like the show but I can't help but laugh when they get the easy stuff wrong.
In 9 Lives Juliet says "All signs point to 11-44."
1- Santa Barbara Police Dept. doesn't use what we call 10 and 11 codes they use plain talk so they would never say 11-44.
2- She said "eleven dash forty four" we never say dash- its just an eleven forty-four
If you are still with me and I hope you are whether you care about the first two or not the third is the biggest error ever and yes this matters because this just makes them all look stupid
for those who don't know- an 11-44 is a dead body. So by saying all signs point to an 11-44 she is saying all signs point to a dead body. (or more literally, all signs point to us having a dead body) Yes, Juliet yes you do have a dead body on your hands and I can tell because he is lying on the frickin' couch...Wow no wonder she made detective at such a young age nothin' gets by her!
The code they were looking for is 11-45 if SBPD used 11 codes and wanted to reference a suicide they would use 11-45. AS in "All signs point to an eleven forty five" no dash.
And if you want to know why I still watch the show? I can't answer that .... its kind of like watching a train wreck, you want to look away but you just can't.
Yeah, Psych still sucks.

I just took a California criminal justice class and they taught us the 10 codes. Why would ONE city in Califonia be different than all the rest?

Snozberries, when are you going to learn that it doesn't matter what code they say to most people, because most people don't even know the codes to begin with.. Lol.

Okay but you're like, older and wiser.. lol I'm 17. I like the show, and the codes seem moderate and correct, even if they made the mistake, its only the first season, they'll probably figure it all out during season 2, no big deal really.

Obviously, I work in law enforcment in Santa Barbara.
I have friends who work for SB police, SB sheriff, UC Police Dept. (Santa Barbara & Berkley), Santa Maria police, Huntington Beach Police, Costa Mesa Police, LAPD and CHP.
I have a lot of contact with other agencies and I can tell you that agencies like SBPD and LAPD do not use 10 codes and Hunting Beach uses 9 and 10 codes but the codes mean different things
Ten codes are not universal...they should be but they are not.
The world would work much easier if every agency spoke the same way on the radio and every code they used meant the same thing but unfortunately the system doesn't roll that way.
Whether most people would know the difference or not is besides the point... any job worth doing is worth doing right. How difficult is it to find out if an agency uses 10-codes or not. . . and even if you don't know if they do or not AT LEAST GET THE RIGHT IF YOU ARE GOING TO ATTEMPT TO USE IT!

Just got off the phone with a friend of mine who is police officer for SBPD and we had the 11-44 vs 11-45 coversation.
I stand corrected on one detail of my posting... although SBPD doesn't use 10 and 11 codes. They do use 11-44 but they do not use 11-45.
11-44 is still a dead body and only a dead body for SBPD.
So when Juliet says "All signs point to 11-44" it means exactly what I said it meant... that all signs point to them having a dead body. Like it takes a detective to figure that out...
