I received this in an email today and wanted to share it!

In March, 2005, this song was performed at a Diamond Rio concert. They received an immediate standing ovation, and continue to do so every time they perform it! Sadly, major radio stations wouldn't play it because it was considered politically incorrect. Consequently, the song was never released to the public. If this song speaks to your heart, share it with friends and loved ones. Then let us cease being the silent majority and join together -- not as a particular political party, but as Americans!

That is a such a WONDERFUL song. I've loved it since the first time I heard it last year.

Sadly, CMT doesn't even have the VIDEO for it on their website. I think that's absolutely rediculous. I don't think radio or CMT should choose what the fans get to hear. They need to play it and let the fans decide, afterall, we ARE the ones who buy the music. Them deciding on it before America gets to hear it makes me mad, because a lot of country listeners feel exactly what it says.

Fortunately Launch @ Yahoo does have the video.. so if anyone wants to see that you can see it here:

Thanks for this post Nana.

Thank you so much for that information. I received it from one of my dear Christian friends and just had to share. I had never heard it before and it came out last year. Thanks for the link...I will definitely see the video. I think I might put it on gen'l discussion too.

You are absolutely right...I think it should be played and if no requests for it are called in then don't play it. But I'll bet there will be a lot of calls for it. I'm so glad to hear from someone who's actually heard it. I was getting goose bumps listening to it. Again, my thanks to you.

My pleasure.. I really do love that song.

After reading this last night it kind of sparked my interest to find something about that song.. I found this great article on their official site... sounds to me like the song DEFINTAELY needed to be given a chance for fans!

Diamond Rio Makes CMA History with Vocal Group Nomination as New Record, “In God We Still Trust,” Captures the Spirit of the Heartland

Powerful New Song and Video to Be Featured in Weekend Services at Nearly 150 Churches across the Country

Diamond Rio has long been known for delivering compelling music, a fact that has made them one of country music’s most successful and enduring groups, honored just this week with a record-setting 15th consecutive Country Music Association award nomination for Vocal Group of the Year. And having recorded such powerful tracks as “One More Day,” “I Believe,” and “You’re Gone,” Rio’s latest song and video, “In God We Still Trust,” has touched a nerve with listeners, drawing standing ovations in concert and being featured this weekend in special services across the country in honor of America’s soldiers and their families.

Nearly 150 churches in at least 17 states from New York to Hawaii will be incorporating the video for “In God We Still Trust” into these special services honoring the military.

Over the course of 22 Top 10 hits, including nine #1 singles, “In God We Still Trust” marks the first time that Diamond Rio has decided to make such an unusually personal statement with their music, delivering a message that is both inspiring and patriotic.

The positive attention being brought to the new song has been all the more rewarding for the band, as lead singer Marty Roe remarked about their decision to record the track, “You know, when I first heard ‘In God We Still Trust,’ I’ll be honest with you – I didn’t know that it fit what we were trying to do, you know, in our music right now. And by the time I got to the chorus, I found myself going, ‘Yeah! Dang straight!’ It just seemed like, ‘Man! How can we not do this song?’ And then we put it in our live concerts, and it’s just – it’s unbelievable the response that we get.”

The band had further reason to celebrate this week, as they became the only group in country music history to earn 15 consecutive nominations as CMA Vocal Group of the Year, prompting Rio’s Brian Prout to comment, “The old cliché is to say that it is an honor just to be nominated, but after 15 consecutive nominations in this category, we are truly honored. We are blessed to have had this longevity in this industry that we love being a part of.”
