When was the last episode where there was a scene outside in front of his house? For some reason the episodes I've seen recently, when he opens his door, it looks like theres been some sort of green screened scenery, and the angle of the camera is parallel to the doorway. Is this just me? Lol.

I noticed it also. It was done that way with the scene with Miranda "Forbidden Fruit" and again in "Panic". They may have had problems in getting the actors on set for those certain shots. It seems as though they aren't showing the outside of the house at all this season. It just seems to be the doorway scene.

Regarding Johnny's house: A few weeks ago I was watching Stephen King's movie "Rose Red" on TV. I didn't get to see it all because I had to leave for work. It did remind me of Johnny's house in away. The only heir to the house that was still living was the grandson. There is a mystery or evil around what happened to the male and female heirs(grandfather, father and grandmother, mother) of the house. Has anyone seen it? I wish that I would have had the chance to watch the ending. I thought of Herb's disappearance or as Johnny was told, his death and Vera's suicide. Johnny's house as maybe "Rose Red"? Just a thought!

Sounds like an interesting angle to bring into the Smith family history!

I thought the whole thing with John's house is that it's not the house anymore that everything is done on a set now. I could be wrong but i thought i heared on a commentary of one of the dvds that they don't film in that acutal house anymore.

Really? you have to wonder why Did it get sold or was it a short termed lease that the owner decided not to renew?

It is just a set. The interior of the house matches the outside of the house in the pilot. They didn't get permittance to shoot there when the show got picked up, that's why they chose the outside of a new house. That's the house they use ever since. Of course they kept the interor, since the whole set was already built.

So, when they shoot a scene from the inside with the door open, they use blue or green-screen and add the exterior of the building they use from the outside.

If anyone wonders why. Well, the house is still in use (it's part of the university), they can't just book it for months while shooting a whole season. Also it's much cheaper and more practical to shoot on set, than on location.
