Of course...Nikki! I’ve been waiting for Nikki to come back ever since the 2nd Season! Shawn and Nikki had AMAZING chemistry from the moment they saw each other from the very first episode of The 4400...I know Nikki was considered a kid when she and Shawn first hooked up but she’s grown up a lot now. Even now, they still have chemistry. I can tell Shawn wanted to take her out to dinner but if it hadn’t been for psycho Isabelle and her threats, Shawn wouldn’t have bailed on her. I know Shawn misses being with someone who’s normal...I can tell he’s getting sick and tired of unpredictable Izz. That girl is a freak and a stalker...Shawn don’t need that. I don’t think she can really do anything except make threats and scare people by what she can do. I’m starting to think she’s the devil from hell...she’s EVIL...she’s the END OF THE WORLD! Shawn and Nikki should be together!

I know she can be scary & powerful, but I don't think she would ever (right now at least) hurt Shawn. Also, if he acted tough with her, I really feel that it would sink in because she doesn't want to upset or disappoint him. She wants his love & affection and in her own twisted way will do anything to please him. Actually, I think he's the only one who could get through to her.

The look in Isabelle’s eyes they are getting on camera don’t appear much like anyone who is going to give in on much. The old saying about fury and a woman scorned comes to mind. With Isabelle, that could be a lot of fury.

I really like Sean and Izzi, but I don't like how fast they moved. He was right it got too intense, but he should have known. I would have like to see them slowly build on their friendship and them actually fall in love so when they do have to fight against each other it will be that much harder for them to decide what to do.

Nikki, hands down. Did you see the look in her eye when Shawn told her he couldn't date her anymore (or something like that)? She looked angry and full of resolve, not someone who would go crying in her pillow. Did you also hear her say, "you're not the only one who grew up"? What's that all about, hmmmmm? This just might be the beginning of the end for Isabelle. Good, because I like a good catfight!!

Yeah, that look Nikki gave him was very telling, to me. I want to keep the window open for more appearances by Nikki, because Lord knows Shawn needs some company from someone outside the 4400 world, but that defiant look and her "Go" told me that she's pretty much done with him now. I mean, this is the second time he unceremoniously dumped her out of nowhere and took off. That "Go" was like, "Okay, you know what? I'm done with this." But I do hope she comes back. Like I said, Shawn needs someone from his past, from the outside, to spend time with. And it's either her or Danny. And I can do without Danny for the rest of my life, thank you very much.

How can a 4400 settle for a plain jane like Nikki, apparently not, cause Shawn turned her down flat. He treaded those waters before with Nikki and he knew she wasn't his kind, he lived in a different world with different goals and he needed to find somebody that was his match.

He wanted to go with her. He just didn't know what Izzy would do to her. He was sparing Nikki Isabelle's wrath.

Uh, how is he going to lose everything over her? What does Nikki have to do with his position at the center or his life as a 4400? Please. Seriously, were we watching the same show? He was scared of something happening to her, because he's seen what Isabelle can do. The defeat was that he had no choice but to do what he was going to do--break off his date with Nikki--and not be able to explain that it wasn't because he didn't care. The defeat was that he was trapped under Isabelle's control and had no choice but to hurt Nikki's feelings, even though it was for her own good. He was at a loss as to how to fix the situation, aka keep Isabelle from going all Alex Forrest on her. How could he have fought for her when that meant fighting Isabelle, something which he has no idea in the world how to do? Her own father is terrified of her. And I have never, ever gotten any sort of vibe from Shawn that he thinks he deserves more than "normal" just because he's, ooh, a 4400, and that Nikki or any other non-4400 is not good enough for him or something. Where in the world did you pick that up? His being with Isabelle in the first place had nothing to do with the fact that she's a semi-4400 and has powers, ooh, she's just like him, they're compatible! No. He was with her because she's hot and he's a 19-year-old boy thinking with his other head. Her 4400-ness is actually scaring him. Maybe you feel that Shawn, or other 4400s, should be with other 4400s because the outsiders wouldn't understand their world, which may be true, but that's not what Shawn's situation with Nikki was at all and that's not why he walked away. He walked away because he is terrified of what Isabelle might do to her and isn't about to wait to find out, because he has no power to stop her and who knows if he would even have time to figure out how since Isabelle could make good on her threat at any moment and he knows that. He is petrified of what Isabelle can do. Everyone who has encountered her by now and seen what she can do is not about to second-guess her; they're all her bitches and they have no idea how to stand up to her. Again, not paying attention. You're just seeing what you want to see because you don't like her. And you don't have to like her character, of course, but that's a ridiculous interpretation. I think Shawn's motives were completely clear. Or did you miss the entire scene when Isabelle made her not-so-thinly veiled threat about them?

He was upset that he couldn't do what he wanted to do, upset that he was going to have to hurt Nikki's feelings and that she was going to go on thinking that he didn't care about that, and upset that he's trapped under Isabelle's power over him. I don't see how that scene could have been at all interpreted as Shawn realizing that Nikki wasn't worth the bother because she's beneath him on the new evolutionary scale. Whatever. But the point of this plotline was perfectly clear. Shawn is afraid of Isabelle and he can't deny it to himself any longer; he managed to be in some denial about last episode's Killabelle antics, but those actions never involved someone he knew and cared about. Before she did what she did for a good cause of sorts, to save him, to stop the bad guys. Now she's threatening an innocent person out of petty jealousy. Shawn can't ignore the truth of what Isabelle is anymore, and he also knows there's nothing he can do about it.

He could lose everything by losing his life just as much as Nikki could lose hers. Shawn walked away from her before in the first season so he could be at The 4400 Center under Jordan Collier. The 4400 Center means more to him than any relationship. He might be afraid of Isabelle but there is no stronger protector, or savior, if you will, of him than her. He will need her to help him fight future battles that The 4400 will encounter. I can't say the same of Nikki at his side. Nikki is a fly-by-night reunion. His future to succeed lies with Isabelle.

You're completely missing the point. I don't believe his Great Purpose with the 4400 and the Future is the point of Nikki's return and his breaking their "date." The point of that, just that, was that he was afraid of what Isabelle might do to her. Yeah, Nikki doesn't fit into all of this. That's why she's not on the show anymore as a regular. I'm not talking about her overall purpose. I'm talking about why Shawn broke plans to just go out and get sushi. It had nothing to do with him realizing that he doesn't have time to be "hanging out" when he has important work to do. It wasn't because Nikki wanted to go around hanging out and doing "regular" stuff and he realized that he didn't have time for that and that it didn't interest him anymore because he's part of something bigger now. It wasn't because, oh, Nikki has no idea what kind of world he's living in now or what his life is like. It wasn't because he couldn't risk Isabelle's wrath because he's so all-important that he can't afford to have her put him out of commission. It was not about him. He broke their dinner plans because Isabelle threatened her. He did it to protect her from Isabelle. Isabelle threatens something will happen to Nikki. Shawn right away goes and cancels their plans before Isabelle makes good on that threat and tells Nikki, though she of course doesn't understand what's going on, that his leaving here right now is the best thing he can do for her. I didn't realize this was supposed to be an ambigious, interpretative storyline. It really couldn't possibly have been any clearer or direct.

shawn has to think about his safety, and honestly, i don't think he's "safe" with isabelle.
and it seems clear to me that he doesn't want to be with her and that he feels that he made a mistake.
isabelle is a selfish, immature, little girl who never learned much about life. with a ***** load of powers. not a good combination.
nikki and shawn's relationship seemed much more real than isabelle's and shawn's.

My take on Shawn is that no one is really good enough for him other than Isabelle. He needs somebody who posses powerful capabilites to protect him and help him in adversities The 4400 will face in upcoming episodes.
I believe no one else in this show is stronger than Isabelle, not Jordan Collier, not NTAC, not Maia, not Richard, no 4400, and maybe not even TPTF.
I am always looking out for Shawn's welfare. I want him to succeed and be the true leader of The 4400 even when Jordan returns.

I see what you are saying. Shawn has to think about the big picture and things have changed since his and Nikki first time together. Shawn has to remember that he is no longer just Shawn anymore but the leader or one of the leaders of the 4400. They have plans for Shawn that does not need to be detoured.

I would prefer Shawn to be with Isabelle. I think that I was a little put off by Nikki because she only came to see him to help her father. I did not see any of the spark that I saw in the 1st season between the two of them.

What intrigues me is that Isabelle is so adamant that she knows him...she has said that a number of times is so form or another.

With her many abilities I think that this is a plausible theory.
