I read that Dana was returning. Does anyone know when she is coming back? She was the reporter that johnny had a thing with.
Ruralstar
DAna is due to return in this week's Articles of Faith

After reading John's blog a few weeks ago, I hope he pays attention to "cues" this time around! Can't wait to see Dana!
Hammer
I read Shawn's blog and it seems like they may be considering bringing her back fulltime to the show from reading in btw the lines. I think it will depend on how the two eps with her in them work out. I think the fans will be glad that she is back. She puts alot of spice into the show. Johnny's missing cues only mean that that guy needs some spice in his life and I do so believe that Dana can do that!! It will be good to see them together again.
jmd811
i personally believe Alex Sinclair provided more of a spark than Dana. I'm very dissapointed that the writers haven't tried hard enough to bring her back.

But i am very curious to see what Dana's return will lead to. very curious.
sentinelks2
Why should you be disappointed? She is a girl who will
let Johnny entertain her. And maybe that's just what he needs right now.
jmd811
i was looking for more character development from her and something more permanent. Stability is something that Johnny needs right now. She was such a dynamic character and had , IMO, the best chemistry with Johnny and maybe the best potential. she is somebody who can truly understand him.
Ruralstar
Early interviews implied that Alex was meant to be John's new love interest for s4. (Pardon me whilst I cringe in horror) The biggest reason she didn't become a permanent character is because Jennifer Finnigan got her own series on CBS last year. She is the star and the two shows shoot in two different locations, LA and Vancouver.

Personally, I can't wait to see more of Dana. I thought AMH and KD had wonderful chemistry and having the character around makes sense from a story telling perspective as well. She is a savvy journalist who knows how to find out information. As Stillson gets closer to the white house, her contacts could prove invaluable to John.

Never mind that it's been since season 2 that we know for a fact that John has made time with a lady. The man is not a monk fcol

If I have to choose a woman lead it would be Dana (but Rebecca at the end ). Two psychics working together for long periods of time is not, to me, DZ. Occasional is great. But, like Ruralstar, I cringe at a long term anything with Alex Sinclair.

I want the sexiness, the angst, the darker texture back. Alex's cuteness drowns all of this out. Armageddon is not cutesy tootsy. Dana has got gumption and doesn't hide away at holidays when emotions run high nor spew naive diatribe. Dana is savvy. She knows how things work and how to use it her advantage. I'm thrilled at her return and hope she comes back for many more eps.
jmd811
and you don't think Alex might be darker than we all thought? why is she so afraid to be with Johnny? is there a part of her past she doesn't want Johnny to know? we haven't even begun to see what kind of a past she might have had besides the bees. she's afraid of staying in one place at one time. why? she doesn't seem to have much of a family or friends. she seems to be isolated. why?

there are so many questions that could be answered and explored. she might be darker than we all might think.
Ruralstar
My fundamental problem with Alex is not her lack of darkness. We saw a glimpse of the more difficult side of her life when she was talking to the ghost in the Christmas ep. My big issue is that two functioning psychics on the series would eliminate the uniqueness of the John Smith character. At his core, John is a conflicted everyman thrust into an extraordinary situation. Having someone around who can read him like a book takes all the fun out of exploring the character. The lines at the end of Double Vision make the point. "How can two people who know everything about one another ever hope to have a relationship that is fresh and new..." etc (paraphrased) Alex's inclusion into the series would change the dynamic of all of the characters.

Never mind that she annoyed the crap out of me by constantly moving all of John's things and anticipating everything from his choice in wine to the video game his son wanted. I found her overpowering and I couldn't really care about any possible darkness she might have.
jmd811
her moving the things around was funny!!! it's part of what makes me like her character so much. she's wild, unpredictable, unstructured. Like Johnny, but lighter. But just like Johnny has a lighter side to him, Alex might have a dark side too.

you forgot how Johnny finished that quote: "...it'd sure be fun trying, though."
Ruralstar
LOL! Yes I remember how he finished it. One has to wonder what part of John's anatomy was talking at that point

*shrugs* I like my comedy a bit more subtle. Case in point: while watching Double Vision I cracked up seeing John 'posing' against Alex's car down in the parking garage. Just a little flash of silliness enhanced by the music. Whereas the stuff in the house drive me completely bonkers. I have nothing against Jennifer Finnigan. She was cute and seemed to have a nice chemistry with AMH

To each their own

Well, she could always work for Janus...that's dark.

Ooooh, naughty Bratty!

I for one can't wait to see Dana again. She liked Johnny right from the get-go. If he hadn't still been struggling with his feelings for Sarah, who knows what could have happened? Johnny and Dana are both tortured, complicated and intelligent. (plus they look good in bed together )

Dana as a regular? YES YES YES!
Hammer
In my opinion Alex is not strong enough mentally and physically to be involved in Johnny's life. He is a man on a mission and that is to save the world. He can't be distracted by someone who he has to constantly worry about. Janus used a snake to kill off Miranda and all it would take to kill off Alex is a bee!
Dana is a strong woman! She is a survivor! She would be an asset to Johnny in many ways. Though Dana has a ruthless side, she is a TRUE friend to Johnny. As for love, I believe that she truly loves him.
She got Johnny to dance when he didn't dance and as for their rumba beneath the sheets they seemed to have been able to keep perfect step with each other.
She was the one woman who was able to take Johnny from his world of dreams and fantasy to a place of reality which he found in her arms.
She may be a "Meat eater" in Walt's words, but I think that Johnny can tame the wild beast within Dana to that of a purring kitten in the romance area, but she can remain the "Meat eater" when it comes to helping Johnny defeat Stillson and Janus.
jmd811
whatever. I just don't trust Dana sometimes. Alex is a more fun, interesting, and mysterious character in my opinion and there is so much you can work with there. and one thing that she has that Dana doesn't, is that she can understand him a lot better than Dana.

Alex not physically or mentally strong enough? get 90% of your body stung by bees and live to tell about it? umm, mentally?!?! she's a psychic!! mentally she understands him like no one else Johnny has or ever will meet, including Dana. Mentally she is probably the ONLY person truly qualified to be involved in Johnny's life. Alex's abilities put her in a league of her own compared to Dana and Rebecca.

I honestly never saw much of a connection between Johnny and Dana. They just didn't work out. That one night. A little bit after. but then it all came crumbling down like a house of cards. End of story.

I think both women can come to play in a story line somewhere. I also think too, that Dana, like Alex and anyone else, has the potential to be tested and fail the test of loyalty. Remember how Grandpa Smith was tested to hand someone over? Or even Jeremy, the Boston reporter gave up his source to protect his wife? These are al hard choices to make and the dark parts of a personality may find its way to the surface.

I too found things in Dana that were questionable at times, like using Johnny to get her story, but all of these elements combine to make drama. John may need each of these woman to accomplish his own mission or even to get some relief from his loneliness. I've always wondered if he'd see two woman at once, because each one does supply him with the things he needs psychologically and emotionally...and the rest.

I really liked Alex. Though she was another psychic, Johnny finally had someone he could relate to, someone who could understand him. It was interesting to see, and I hope we get to see her again sometime:)

Hmmmmmmmm, DANA!

Yum, YUm, YUM!

Dana is the best fit for Johnny in EVERY way possible!

I almost forgot just how freaking HOTT Dana is until tonight. She looked fantastic!!

Besides her looks, Dana is the type of woman that can be an asset to Johnny and his quest.

My God, there is no comparison.

Dana is the one.

In my opinion I don't think Johnny can date two women at the same time. He loved Sarah since they were kids. They had their lives planned out until his terrible accident. Johnny seems to me to be a one woman man! I think he can date different women, but it has to end with each one before he will start up a new relationship. I think that when Johnny is serious about a woman that he will want a relationship with them. He seems to need that closeness in his life. It seems to me that now he wants to distance himself from any woman and a relationship with them. He sees the future and it isn't good and so why complicate things! To me that seems really sad! Save the world, but be unhappy while doing it! What if he fails, then he has lost any chance at happiness that he may have had. There will not be a second chance at do overs. He deserves to be happy and especially now, because there may not be a tomorrow for him to be happy in!!!
jmd811
Dana and Johnny are a doomed relationship. they were from the start. they might share that electric spark, but in the end, Dana's career ambitions will get in the way to much. Johnny being media shy doesn't help either. Long term, it just isn't going to happen.
WatchingDZ
Hi,
I agree with you- Dana has said herself that she isn't good at commitment. And, I think she realizes there is a spark there, so she has been the one to back off. Remember in Dinner with Dana, she was the one who was uncomfortable with emotional intimacy at a time when John was desperate for an emotional connection. There wouldn't be any future for the two of them unless she has a change of heart - they both know that.

The kiss at the end of this ep says it all doesn't it- she kisses him lightly, he does likewise. She starts to run out- he calls to her and says he's missed her. She replies, ... call me sometime (paraphrased). It seems things are right where they left off.
Ruralstar
I agree that John and Dana would have a very difficult path to travel but I think the Dana of Articles of Faith has grown a bit since s2. Her greeting to John in the auditorium, her concern after the assault and her obvious discomfort at John's rudeness at the Sherriff's office-all of these things indicate a change to me. I think she was hoping-and so was I frankly-that John would give her a real good-bye kiss.

Despite John's self admitted harshness, Dana continued to help him. Yes she got a story out of it but I think she also recognized how important the case had become to John on a personal level. She understands Bruce's place in John's life and a part of her envies him. A sentiment evidenced by her comment about 'trying out for the job' early in their aquaintence.

As a side note, I'll agree with any of the male posters on the board regarding KD. She looked lovely. This episode reinforces my feelings that John and Dana have wonderful chemistry. Thank you to AMH and KD.

Hi,
Wow, I think I need to watch this ep again- was admittedly distracted with someone staying with us while watching - thanx for your feedback, will watch this ep again.
Ruralstar
Enjoy! I'm looking forward to a quiet evening so I can rewatch as well!

Michael Taylor's blog is must read.
He talks about the relationship btw Johnny and Dana.LOL
Hoping to write more for S6 and S7 too!

What I love about Dana is her ability to read John and just people in general. I loved her comment about how she said she has gotten help in falling for older manipulative men and then said that John didn't fall in either category. She's definitely still interested and would even say very emotionally attached to John. She sees his vulnerability and something in her wants to take care of it. It is quite a full time job.

Dana should come back because she can get into places John wouldn't begin to know how to without just barging in. Dana has finesse, style, and she knows how to deal. She's of great asset when Purdy can't be used or shouldn't be used.
DebraDee
I personally don't care for Dana. I think that she way to concerned with herself than she is with Johnny. He definately need a woman who can understand what he is going through and doesn't just run off to get her scoop. I hope that there will be a new character to play the Johnny's love interest.
cestry2000
First of all, I do agree that the relationship between Sarah and Johnny had to end up in a strong friendship, but I think the writers could have explored it a bit more before making them just friends. I also think they should have explored more the triangle Dana-John-Sarah.

Anyway, but when it comes to Alex and Dana I prefer Dana. She's a real woman and even the fact that she's someone hard to get could be a good development for John and Dana as a couple. And Alex... well... Alex really annoys me. Thank God Jennifer Finnigan got her own series now!
