Full Version: Drinkin' Me Lonely on the Radio!!!
We've gotten several reports from different states that Drinkin' Me Lonely is being played on the "Make It or Break It" segments at local stations. I know it was a "Make It" on the Connecticut station that played it this morning. Let us know if you hear it on your local stations....
I keep checking allaccess.com (mediabase) but there isn't any mention of it there as far as release date or cool new music. This would be for reporting stations...
BECKY, I HEARD IT!! I tried to call you and Terri but got no answer!! At exactly 11:33AM I got in my truck to go to lunch and he DJ said "CHRIS YOUNG and the song started!! I felt like I was having a heart seizure!! Tears started rolling down my cheeks and I was laughing and shaking like I'd won a million dollars! It's absolutely beautiful!!I love the arrangement and the fiddles and the keyboards and the back up singers.......and I've never heard his voice sound better! I'm STILL shaking!!! It felt just like when he won NS and I was standing there with my buds jumping up and down and screaming and crying!! I called the DJ, whom I know a bit, and she knew exactly who I was when I called. She said she LOVES the song. I took her a copy of Chris's last Indie CD two years ago and told her he would be a huge star someday - she loved him then and she loves him even better now!! I'm so freakin' EXCITED!!! Give Chris a big hug from me - he and Drinking Me Lonely are on the way to being #1 starting TODAY!!
I've been listening to mine expecting it to be part of the new country test they do everyday. I missed Tuesday but am hoping that was too soon for it. I really thought it might be today, but it wasn't. If anyone wants to listen when they test, they stream online B93 They do it about 11:25 AM eastern and then take thumbs up or thumbs down votes for about 20 minutes.

Cool, Fay! I haven't heard it here yet, but it's still early. Being so close to Nashville, I'll be one of the last to hear it...lol.
i requested it a little while ago on my favorite Nashville Radio Station 103 WKDF, but Becca wasn's sure that they had it in the system, but I'm going to get calling each day to get them to play it... Can't wait to actually hear it on the radio...

Okay... So I just went over to KZLA's website... it doesn't mention them doing the test drive on Tues so I don't know if I missed it or not... BUT... they have a CHRIS YOUNG thread on their message boards .

Ooh oooooooh! I'll have to check with my local station and see if they have it yet. ....Fay, I can only imagine how you were feelin' when you heard it. I think I'll be exactly the same way. I'm gonna get some cute EMT guy waitin' by my side for a few days just in case.
Pat it was absolutely unbearable!! I can't even describe the feeling. AND I just HEARD IT AGAIN!! This time I didn't come totally unglued and really listened closely, the music was impeccable and his voice was absolutely perfect. And the falsetto at the end......well let's just say there are going to be a LOT of melted ladies down my way!! WKIS does it twice a day here at 11:30AM-ish and 7:30PM-ish Then you call in and tell the DJ to "love it" or "shove it"....Chris didn't get one single bad vote this morning. AND he just got another 100% for tonight's segment!!
I'm so jealous!!! Been listening for it all day but nothing on KATW 103.3...
Pat, I talked to Fay after she heard it and she was beside herself. In the voice mail message she left me, I didn't even know for sure who she was talking about because I had no idea they were playing DML yet. Awesome!!!!
I'm sooo jealous! My station doesn't have anything like that! I did email them though! I can't wait! I know I'll be the same way!
Haven't heard it on the radio here yet.. but I just e-mailed all 3 radio stations here.. and I WILL keep bugging them untill it gets airplay!!
We got some more reports of stations playing it over night - most of them are "testing" it and the official add date isn't until next month, but hopefully we're going to be hearing it more and more.....

That's terrific news! I was hoping they would test it here today, but no luck They tested the new single by George here the other day and while he passed, it didn't do very well.
Sorry Lucymac! I'm really hoping he at least gets it on the myspace soon so people can hear it. It sounded great on the air yesterday when I heard it. Of course, I'm a tiny big prejudiced!
I heard it too and it sounded great. Love the ways he uses his falsetto in the end.
My main station is Clear Channel and reporting, so I really want them to play DML Buddy and Brad got a lot of support and while they played EJ, not as much. I really want them to get beind Crhis! When they support a new artist, they really support them
Well.. I got an e-mail back from the DJ at my radio station today. He said they're defiantely going to test it and are really considering adding him to their playlist.
That's great news for 2 reasons.. one just because I'll get to hear Chris on the radio!! But 2 because this is a HUGE radio station. They've won all kinds of awards and is really well known.. even outside of Texas. They've got people all over the country that listen online. So this would definately be good!! Also the DJ I talked to isn't just a DJ but also the Music Director for the station and the host of the Now Country Countdown nationally... so hopefully this could be really great for Chris!!

Thanks for the update Meri! That is fantastic news! I know the song from George S just tested fair here, but the Neil McCoy one did very well. Now if they would just get around to testing DML!
I spoke with our local dj, and he promised to play it as soon as he gets it. He said they were pulling for Chris through the whole show.

I've requested it by e-mail but, so far, just got the standard "Thanks, Dale. Have a great day." response from the program director. It is a ClearChannel station & they don't take too many chances-LOL!!! I'll give them until 7/17 before I start calling and really bugging them.
I really think DML is gonna be such a big hit that I won't have to beg them to play it and what I'm reading here just reinforces that feeling.

I heard that... my local station is a Clear Channel station too... I've inquired about it but NOTHING! This is soooooo typical of them. I tried to get them set up with an interview with Chris during NS but they didn't respond... I bet they will be sorry they didn't once the song takes off. HA!

As soon as I read this I rushed over to my local radio station's web page to make sure they were going to be playing Chris on their new song challenge. I didn't know the song was out yet, plus I didn't know they'd gone back to DML. Imagine my surprise to find they'd played it Friday and he'd won and I'd missed it. You can bet I will be listening on Monday and getting my vote in. I can't wait to hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yipppeeeeeeeeee!!!! One of the stations I'd been emailing is gonna test Chris's song in about 20 minutes. Good thing I need to run an errand so I can be listening to the radio !
WOW!!!!!!! I'm so glad I'd gotten parked 'cause I flat burst into tears. The release version is perfect. I happened to get hold of the PD when I called in to rate the song. She's obviously a huge Chris fan. She said "Drinking Me Lonely" was a million $$$$ song, the label is really backing Chris (unlike Brad or Erika Jo) and the rating was coming in between A & A+. That's a phenomenal rating for these parts. Jo Dee got a B- on Friday.
Jo Dee just tested quite well here so I'm sure hoping Chris does even better. I just heard back from the DJ that does the tests and he said they will be testing it this week!
Yahoo, when they started the challenge this morning I found out that Chris had already won twice, so today he was going for 3 in a row. I can't believe I'd missed the first two days. Anyway, today he was up against She Daisy's new song. I had already voted online last night, so when they played the song this morning I called to vote again. The DJ asked me several questions about the song, Chris, and Nashville Star. He must have watched because he commented about how Chris seemed to have it from the very beginning of the show. He seemed excited about Chris, I was very glad to hear it since they didn't pay much if any attention to any of the past winners except Buddy. Back to the song, I was so excited when it started I almost had to pull over. It was GREAT. It was our Chris, sounding just like he does live. I'm very excited for him. 2 more wins and he goes into the Hall of Fame!!!!
I have been listening for it here in Cleveland, because our country station 99.5 WGAR sometimes plays those types of contests...but to date I haven't heard it yet. I really think that "Drinking Me Lonely" is going to be a HUGE hit for Chris Young and I am really excited to hear what the studio version of the song sounds like...from what I have heard so far, I am willing to bet it is going to be phenominal.
I will keep my ears tuned to the radio and let y'all know if I hear anything.

Really? Very cool...can't wait to hear it up here. Is it still a slower ballad like the acoustic version? Or did they change it?
Is still very much the original tempo and feel, but they've added some texture to it. The part that really makes it special, in my mind, is the addition of the piano. It is subtle, but gives it additional depth.

Here's the Iowa update. The Trace Adkins message boards went down for a few days, right when Chris was about to win #4 in a row I believe. They didn't come back up until yesterday, so I've been somewhat antsy waiting for the news. It was worth the wait!

Anyhow, one the old board I posted about him doing something, I think amazing! He beat King George Strait on the nightly Kat Fight! DJ said it was one of the biggest upsets in the Kat fight's history! Went on to win all 5 nights!!! Being some heavy competition too! Like Neal McCoy's latest Tailgating! (after hearing Tailgaiting live last Sunday in Des Moines by Neal, its awesome live! Hope it does well too!)
Winning all 5 nights is RARE in these parts!! Something that Trace hasn't got the pleasure of!! They play alot of great songs during it! Lots have become MAJOR HITS!!
Now just wish his tour would come closer to home so we can see a full show!!

No reason to wait til July 17 to request. Lot of songs make the charts before release date mainly because of requests to hear it. Once radio has the song they can play it when they want.
