I would rate that performance as the greatest of all from anyone entire season. He consistently gave us a good show each week & I was so proud of him for taking his stand for the Lord. God has great things ahead for Casey.
I thought last night was very good too. It looked like Casey was just having fun.
God Bless him and his family & fans

Boy it sure was a great performance.
He really took a chance singing gospel - especially this day and age. But he nailed it! Thanks to Casey for singing the gospel. He did a great job, all the way around.
At least this time Anastatia didn't get rude when someone sang gospel!

I AGREE. THAT PERFORMANCE IS WHAT SEPERATED CASEY FROM THE OTHERS IN MY MIND. I HATE HE DIDN'T WIN. BUT I LIKED ALL OF THE FINAL FOUR CONTESTANTS. I CAN'T REMEMBER HEARING THAT SONG SUNG ANY BETTER EITHER. WHEN THE MUSIC BEGAN FOR THE SONG I THOUGHT OK THIS WILL BE GOOD, I WAS WRONG. IT WAS GREAT. IT ACTUALLY CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD. I KNEW CASEY COULD SING BUT TO USE YOUR DESCRIPTION WOW!!!

I agree with you...it was GREAT. I also feel like it is
what separated Casey from the others that night.
I am disappointed he didn't win also but just knowing that the Lord has his hand on Casey - good things are going to happen for him.

What a set of pipes. That young man can sing. I missed the first season of Nashville Star, but that was the best performance of the last three seasons. It is hard to compare How Great Thou Art to a song like Great Balls of fire, but that being said I think it was the best performance of the last 3 seasons. I imagine it moved several people. I sat down that night to be entertained, instead I had church.

Yep Yep Yep.....I agree - that boy sure can sing!
I loved each week he sang and I'm going to miss seeing him. Hopefully, I'll get to see him at one of concerts on tour.

Absolutely! I have no doubt it beats out any performance in season one also. I keep thinking - what will they remember down the road when the performances start blending together? This one will never blend. It will always be an incredible memory for anyone that was lucky enough to be there in person never mind the millions he touched through the television! Absolutely incredible performance.

I have been watching Nashville Star for 2 seasons but I have never voted for anyone. I voted for Casey Rivers that night. I have played the organ and piano in several churches since i was 24 years old. I have heard several singers with beautiful voices. His performance was something special. For me there was more going on than just entertainment. It was spiritual, at least for me. I pray for that young man's sucess in country music. Country music will be better because of Casey Rivers.

Thank you for voting first time for Casey. Yes, he was definitely singing from his heart & with lots of real emotion & soul. It was "spiritual" for me & I've heard similar quotes from other fans. My friends who voted for him agree with us.
I am hoping he will do both country and gospel...His voice is truly a gift from God.

song on it....Would be great if he could do all!

Isn't it a blessing to see someone with a gift from God honor God with that gift. And to do so on a night when the voting was so important was wonderful. What an amazing young man he must be. And to Casey Rivers I say thank you and God bless you!!!!!!!

Yes, he has an amazing God given talent & we are all proud he gave glory & praise for it! Awesome performance & I agree was the best one of the entire season. So very thankful for Casey and know that as long as he stays true to himself he will do well. I know the Lord has his hand on him.

You are right and Casey was great. I wonder about the "ice queen" sometimes. I would much rather have Phil Vasser offer me some constructive criticisim. He has a charm about him. He could about say anything in his tone of voice and smile and it wouldn't hurt quite so bad.And you would probably want to roll up your shirtsleeves and get to working on his advice. Anastasia does kind of grow on you though. I actually enjoyed her this season!!!

I don't watch much television, but i caught Nashville Star the night Casey sang How Great Thou Art. As i was reading your message I remember a neighbor who loves the show and tapes it every week. IN fact, she has every episode every shown taped. She cautiously let me borrow them and i went back and watched all of Casey's performances. Why didn't he win? I am very impressed with this young man.

I'm glad you got to see that show! He was really awesome wasn't he! I still play the song when online & watch my tape of it & I still get goosebumps everytime I hear it or watch it again & again.
Don't know why he didn't win - his fans were disappointed but we all know the Lord has plans for him & I guess they didn't include being NS4 winner. Casey will always be our winner & good things will happen for him
How very nice of your neighbor to let you borrow her tapes.
I'm so happy you enjoyed the shows & are as impressed with Casey as we are. Casey fans are very proud of him.
Welcome to the message board & please come back anytime.

Don't you think Casey, and all the contestants for that matter handled their critiques in a professional manner. There were a couple of times, I myself felt embarassed for the contestants. I could feel their pain. I mean you pour your guts out, in song, in front of a large audience and a larger tv audience and someone doesn't like what you wore or whether you were too still or whether you moved around too much. It does make for better television I guess ? And much of the advice is wise, but as time goes on you forget those. Anastasia does grow on you. The show would not be the same without her. I will miss seeing Casey once a week.

Isn't funny the little things you remember. I will remember that performance for a long time. The lighting during that performance, was that being shown through a stain glass window? Whatever it was, it was neat.

I don't like throwing around words like the best, but there is no other way to describe Casey's performance of How Great Thou Art. It touched a lot of people. I am so glad to read these messages. If you believe everthing you see, hear and read from the media, its hard not to conclude that the world is on a downward spiral. But seeing all these responses from all these fans reminds me that there are a lot of good people out there saved by the grace of God that we dont read or hear about everyday. So I say thank God for Casey Rivers and thank God for all these fans. Fans of Casey and of course Fans of God.

Here Here ! I can't imagine there is a bigger gospel music fan than me. (especially southern gospel) And some people might say Christians should just sing gospel. But i like seeing Christians sing all types of music. The world is supposed to be better because we are in it. Country music is better because of Casey Rivers and quite a few more like him that are in it. Same can be said for any profession. So again I say thank you Casey, and God bless you.

I couldn't agree with you more. We need more Christians who stand proud for the Lord. Casey does it well & I pray he will get the chance to show how great he is to the world. I still play his How Great Thou Art & still get the goose bumps. After my brother died, I played it at least 25 times....I have his gospel cd and take it back & forth from house to car.
And yes, I agree, country music is better because Casey Rivers is in it. Great post!

Nana 4, I don't spend much time on computer. I will have to check out Casey's site. I hate I didn't register on this site until season was almost over. I am glad I found it. I didn't realize Casey had a gospel CD. I'm sorry about your brother, but glad you found comfort. If you don't already have it, find copy of "I
Do believe" by Gaither Vocal Band. It is a great gospel recording. I found lots of comfort in a couple of the songs. The CD has wide variety of songs, all southern gospel. Am going to now to search and checkout Casey's recordings. Any info you have welcome.
