...and, yes, I AM from the south with that "y'all" on there, just to clear that up if any questions! haha

Anyway, it's got behind-the-scene footage on it. Kind of fun to watch...

Hey Patice! I did see it and thought it was really cool to see Nicole and her son.

Now onto a more important matter......
We are from Schererville Indiana but just moved to the south (Texas). Can you explain a few things to me? Like why is it called Coke no matter what kind of "pop" it is? (We get made fun of a lot when we call it pop!) I was at a baseball game and heard a dad say to his son to be careful not to spill his Coke, but it was a root beer?!?

And what exactly is the difference between Y'all and
All Y'all? We say "you Guys! People just stare with a puzzled look:)
My kids and I get accused of having a Chicago accent. They think we say words like locker and mom and chocolate funny?

Just wondering! I'm sure you would feel a bit of culture shock up North too:) Donna

All things southern and the reasons why.....(haha)

Alright, so here you go! lol

First, a Coke is ALWAYS a Coke, it doesn't matter if it's actually a Sprite, it's STILL a Coke. There's no reason, just simply is! haha

Second, "y'all" and "all y'all" is the same. "All y'all" is just MORE southern! lol

We're always "fixin'" to do something. No, we're not actually fixing anything, we're just about to do something, so therefore, we are "fixin'" to do it! haha

Everything gets battered, fried and smothered in gravy! Is it healthy? No, but it's the southern way, don't you know!

So, there you have it! All things southern according to me!

I'm from Texas originally and now in Tennessee, so I'm an expert! haha

Ok, so you've had course "How to be southern 101" from me, well, here's the next course!

"How to be southern 201"

You do NOT want to hear the term "bless your heart" in reference to you said in a condescending tone. Yes, on one hand, this seems to be a nice thing to say, but it's southern and polite for "they've got problems and don't have a clue". Usually followed by a bewildered look and shaking the head in confusion. lol

Just go with the sweet tea. You will stick out like a sore thumb if you ask for unsweetened.

Try the grits, but if you do, put some butter and sugar on them. They taste good that way!

It's not "get", rather it's "git"! As in: "I've got to git!" In other words, you've got to get going. Leaving to do something else! haha

Oh, I'm thinking on this whole Coke thing. Maybe it's because Coke's headquarters are in the south in Atlanta, and it was created down here. I'm not sure. I just know that my whole life, I've referred to any type of soda drink as a "Coke" even though I know it's different, and everybody else I know does the same! lol

Be sure and wave to your neighbor if you happen to see them. I don't have a CLUE as to who half of mine are, but we still always wave!

With these lessons, I'm sure you will fit in just fine in Texas! You'll be "southern" in NO time flat! haha

P.S. Yes, I'm sure I'd "git" culture shock if I moved up north! With my calling every drink a "Coke" and my "y'all" thrown in there! haha I'm not soooooooo bad! I'm not a redneck, I swear! haha I travel quite a bit all around the world, and I speak with people from all across the U.S. everyday, so my accent is not soooooo thick! However, I can pour it on like molasses when I feel like it! haha
PorkyHill
Here is the real skinny.............Let's say you're at a party with 200 people there. You may get mad and point your finger at someone and maybe he's with 5 of his friends. So you would say, "I'm gonna kick yawl's ass." But if you're mad at everyone at the party (all 200 of them), you would say, "I'm gonna kick all yawl's ass."

I never use it, but pretty sure it means getting rude, testy and cranky. Like "don't get snarky with me".
