Ok, this is totally bugging me. But not in a bad way. I'm just mega curious.
As anyone noticed how certain things are popping up many times in different episodes. For example, people named Larry. Like in the drunk episode, and like in the episode with the fish.
Also, I've heard characters talking about swearing on their mothers eyes like three different times, three different characters, and once two said the exact same thing. They both said "I swear on my sainted mother's eyes."
Also, I believe that Monk used the name Ben in the prison episode, and Ben was the name of the dead guy in the drunk episode.
I also know that there are probably more instances of similar names, and I know that there are cases of the same last name popping up more than once for different characters. I just can't remember it exactly right now. I believe one of them is the last name of the mob people. Now I thought maybe it was more from there family, but looking at the characters that had that last name, I'm not sure.
Has anyone else noticed what I'm talking about? Have examples?
Does anyone know why the writers do that?

Oh, my lord, yes, I can play along with this game. I'll even start with some things of this nature that I posted to another board-
" Karen said that the yoga she was doing was the 'Gittomer' method, and Gittomer was the name of the guy that was killed in Carnival wasn't it? It was a name of someone in that episode. In the pilot, Miranda St Claire asked 'What, did someone hit him in the head with a shovel?' and in Cobra, someone did. Jerry the homeless transient guy and Jerry the anmesiac Adrian, Adrian calling himself Van Rankin in Jail and that was the name of Ambrose's neighbor who killed his wife in Three Pies. The name of JT Demornay's book in Jail and the name of Daniel Thorn's book in Vegas are both 'Richer than God'. Lt. Wolliver who liked Natalie's eyes never made an appearance in Vegas but his name was mentioned several times, and the kid that invited everyone but Adrian to his birthday party mentioned in TV Star in the sixth grade but we also never actually saw was Robbie Wolliver."
Okay, for some others- Zwibell was the name of one of the lawyers in Carnival, and the name of the artist who painted the picture and Ben Grueber borrowed the name of in Drunk.
Adrian's former partner in Employee of the Month was Joe Christy and the name of the warden in Jail was Warden Christy.
In Cobra, Trudy told Adrian 'I'm not 25 anymore, we need to talk about this!' Beth Landow in Back To School said the same thing to the guy that killed her. Also, Beth Landau is the name of Andy Breckman's wife who was in Mr. and Mrs. Monk at the captain's barbecue.
In Ballgame, Adrian said of Scott Gregorio "He loved her," while watching him talk to the press about why he went into a sudden batting slump after Erin was killed, and when watching Daniel Thorn deliver a speech at the dedication of a hospital about how he waasn't going to slow down or stop anything after his wife's murder, "He didn't love her."
The name of Julie's fish, and the art teacher in the Ballgame episode is Mr. Henry.
The tarot card, The Tower made an appearance in both Carnival and The Psychic.
The guy who played Fraidy Cop in Billionaire Mugger played the cop that found Tommy in the park in The Kid.
May 2 seems to be a popular date- 15 year old Adrian had his first debilitating attack of OCD at a track meet in May 2, 1974, Roddy Lankman cut his assistant, Lizzie Talbot's, brake line on May 2 in Gameshow, and Daniel Thorn killed Sheryl (Cheryl?) Thorn on May 2.
I'm pretty sure that there are quite a few more.

oh i know! There are so much more! It's weird huh? Your watching a show, and it's total Deja Vu!
Now I don't really have any at the moment. But that's just because it's late, and I've been studying for a test for like 5 hours. So I'm drawing a blank.
The only one I can think of right now is with that whole "richer than God" thing. In the Billionaire Muger, the rich guy's driver says that his boss was "richer then God."

Hey Kim -
They also mention Vinton Street alot. The police station is there (Big Reward), the YMCA is there (Kid), Sherry Judd lived there (Little Monk), and I think there was another time, too.
