I am not really sure.. Im using firefox and the writing looks fine. Unless... On your browser go to View- then text size..

Im not sure if that helps anything.

You might try changing your screen resolution. Go to Start - control panel - display - settings. Notice the bar below the words, screen resolution. Change the setting to somewhere around 1000 and click OK. This will make your desktop and display on your computer smaller but allows you to see more of the display when on the Internet. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't exactly call myself a ""Newb" at the posting type stuff, on other sites I am a guru [the highest level of poster you can be] but on here i guess i am a 'newb'
I'll deal with it.
I just wanted to say hello. I am a HUGE fan of svu! and i love what i have seen so far!
If i EVER offend anyone with any post that i make or any comment i make about your most, please come foward and tell and it WON'T happen again.
I want to be friends with everyone!
kay thanks!

Okay, i think if i post it here, it may make it a bit easier for everybody.....

If you have a question about an episode, there is an episode question thread. Please don't make an entire new thread just for that one question about that one eppy. That's how the board gets cluttered. And it'd be very much appriciated if you would search to make sure what you're about to start a new thread about, isn't already made. I hope i didn't come off to harsh, but it's just easier for everybody that way. Thanks!

3) Duplicate threads. Check the entire front page to see if there's already a thread started about what you want to discuss. If you can't find one, then there's a search feature at the bottom of the main page. It's a pretty good bet that if you want to discuss a particular topic, it's already got at least one thread dedicated to it.

The Admin of USA has stated that duplicate threads will be locked. So to avoid aggrevation to yourself and others, please do a check first. Then, if your topic doesn't appear, feel free to start a new one.

Please read the quoted and bold type. We are having to many threads here about the same subject. Also, please don't start a thread unless it about the show, actors and actresses, or show related. Remeber, you can help by putting everything in it's proper thread. wink.gif We not trying to be mean or anything, just helpful in keeping the board neat and clean. smile.gif

Hello. Welcome to USA Network's SVU message board. We're a crazy bunch of people and always looking to add a few more. Based on many discussions on the board, here are a few guidelines, rules of etiquette and suggestions for newbies and anyone else in need of a refresher course.

1) Don't type in all caps. It's considered yelling and you can be seen as rude. You have a shift button on you keyboard, please use it.

2) Punctuation, grammar, and spelling (your English teacher would love to know you learned to use them). Please remember that English is not the native language for many of our posters. Using netspeak or not using punctuation, capital letters, grammar, etc, can make your posts difficult to understand. Also remember that not everyone here is under the age of 20 so the netspeak looks a lot like gibberish to us and makes some posts more than difficult to read.

4) Remember that we can't see facial expressions, hear vocal intonations or hear the laughter that someone may have been experiencing when they wrote you a reply. This means that sometimes something you might find offensive wasn't intended that way by the poster. If you find something they said to be offensive, please ask for clarification before assuming they meant to be mean. If you don't feel comfortable posting your question to the board, then send the poster a PM (click their name, then click "private message"). Don't just assume they were trying to be mean and get in their face in return. That's how board wars get started.

5) Speaking of board wars. Please don't bring difficulties on other boards here. If you're having issues with another board, deal with it there. Don't post a link to their board here and ask people to go over and read/respond/help. It'll only get ugly and I dare to say, none of us want that.

6) Remember the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Which, in plain speak means: Be nice, play well and if you're feeling grumpy or angsty, go sit in a corner until you're able to play well with others. We all have feelings and can be hurt rather easily if poked hard enough. Just because we can't see each other doesn't mean the words can't hurt.

'Kay?

If anyone has anything else to add, please feel free. This isn't anything official, just my take on things after 7 years of moderating boards and chatrooms. I hope it didn't offend anyone.

just bumping this post back.....

Just to reitterate what KatRose and Irisheyes, and Bubba, and a whole lot of other people are saying... lately we've been having problems with duplicate threads. Really guys, it'll take you a whole extra minute to search the first page, and do a quick search. And be smart about things...if you are looking for....desktop patterns, don't just search under "Desktop" use "Wallpaper" and "Posters" or whatever else you can think of. It's really easy, and painless. Now yeah, it takes a minute or two out of your day, but it saves us a whole lot of trouble of asking Admin to either close, or combine threads, and then you get yelled at, this and that. Hope that didn't sound too mean, but there's just a lot of duplicate threads around lately...

Thank you to all the new members who do look at this thead. It really does help cut down on confusion.

Hi Bubba here, I saw some signatures that I thought that was to big, so I thought I should pass this along ...

QUOTE (admin @ Jul 9 2007, 02:04 PM) *
I've tried to be lenient on signatures but they're just becoming too much. The average signature is exponentially longer than the post it is attached to, and often feature files that are multi-megabytes in size. From now on please follow these guidelines: 1) No more than one large animated file, 2) No more than one "row" of images, unless they are very thin.

I just opened this thread to say the same thing, Bubba. Some of the sigs are out of control; I am not just saying this out of spite because I have no idea how to do a signature . . .

Also, is there any way to edit the to of the thread "Epsiode Questions"? It is misspelled and I believe that several posters, myself included, have begun deadwood or duplicate threads as a result of searching for a thread titled Episode Questions to no avail due to the misspelling.

I'm bumping this because I've been away for a day and have come back to see about five added threads that are either duplicates or completely unecessary. Or both. I don't know what admin can do about, but I hope they can do something, cause it's getting a little out of hand.

Given the way some of the posts have been going lately, I am wondering if there are no official rules regarding inflammatory posts. I know everyone is bound to rub someone the wrong way at some point or another, but I am noticing some repeat posters who seem to post just for the sake of starting arguments and who use abusive language. I used to post on another board and we had a "flamer" who was banned from the board by admin, so I am curious to know if the USA boards have a similar policy.

That's what I've been wondering as well. I just wonder if they can delete all these duplicate threads cause I feel like I'm reading the same stuff over and over and over. And then over again. It's almost like people are posting for the sake of posting. It's not like they're even saying anything new...it's just. Grr. Lol..

Here's a tip for newbies, try to word your post carefully. I recently posted and kind of upset someone, without meaning to. So please be careful on what words you use. smile.gif

Hi Bubba here, I think folks should really respect the rules. If you are new, you need to review those. There is too way much chit chat going on and too many duplicate threads, like mrslee have mentioned that needs to be taken down. Last time I check, there is an age limit of 13.

I agree with the chit-chat issue, Bubba. I am just as guilty as anyone else when it comes to treating the message boards like a chat room. I suggest that we use the PM option more when we feel like chatting.

I consider myself a southerner and I believe no one knows good manners like southerners but I do have problems with people who try to regulate my communications and freedom of speech. I don't believe in being fake. If someone irks me I am want the right to let him or her know it. I don't take these boards all that seriously; it's just another form of entertainment after all and let's face it, board wars are amusing especially because no one can be physically harmed.

I'm 53 years old and when home computing first started to take hold 30 years ago I thought enough is enough; people will never leave their homes and life will become quite impersonalized. However; I have jumped on the bandwagon. Now that I have invested in a computer and now that I use the internet I feel that I should learn
the language. Hey, when in Rome and all. I've learned that there are several sites to which one may go to learn the meanings of words of cyberspeak. Heck, you can simply type it into the address bar and be taken to a place that will define the abbreviations. If you spend any appreciable amount of time in cyberspace it makes sense to know how to talk the lingo. I assume that anyone for whom English is not his/her first language considers him/her-self proficient; we don't have to take on their issues or bend ourselves to what we perceive to be their handicaps. Foreigners come to English-speaking sites to learn the language or to familiarize themselves with our slang. Face it; few of us speak proper English during "everyday" communications. To do so for the sake of foreign visitors to our sites would be doing them a disservice. tc gla blink.gif
