There are several reasons/things that seem to suggest Laura Allen (not reasons that are mine or hypothetical, but real information) might not be back on the show (or, coming back for an episode or two then leaving).

Does anyone know for sure if she's leaving, and why?

A friend says she feels Ms Allen got tired of all the hate mail about her inter-racial relationship on the show, and decided to move on. Another friend (who was there during the conversation), jokingly said that it wasn't the mail but that she wanted a better looking Richard to kiss..

Thanks

Whether Laura returns or not, has nothing to do with hate mail or Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (Richard). Laura says he is a wonderful actor and she enjoyed working with him. I can't speak for Laura, so I won't say anything about whether she will be back or not, but I do know the answer. When/if she wants to make a statement, she will let me know.

Thanks Sushigal . Yours is one of the very few names I know here now.

I'm going to miss her on this show.

While sure that the better looking Richard guess (it was more of a joke anyway) was crap, my other friend's guess was plausible, so thought I'd check it out. Even without that plausible guess, I had already read some things that seemed clear to me she wasn't returning.

Since many people know she is in a Pilot that was filmed for a new TV show, (Since I like Ms Allen, I'm going to have to see it to find out if I want to watch it on a regular basis or just when I need a Laura Allen fix, and had watched the episode I'd tivoed too many times) I can mention it here and state the obvious that if that show is picked up, that might be why she won't be back--or one of the other reasons I can't list as they are not common knowledge.

Along with being eye candy (Laura/Lily), having an inter-racial couple with a mixed blooded child (was it Leading Lady that pointed out here that that was the first time TV got it right on how a mixed blooded baby should look [skin color]?) was refreshing and one of the reasons I love the show (Along with Lily and Richard being such good characters, no matter what color the actors were). I was hoping to see them as a couple for some years to come, to see if some other Network(s) would start putting such couples as returning characters on a series. I think that has just been dealt a setback.

I don't see them giving the character Richard another white wife/girlfriend. They will either keep him single, or we will see a black female added to the show.

Sigh. Well, that's life in the fast lane.

Glad to hear Mahershalahashbaz (what is he called for short?! ) Ali is a nice guy in person, like Richard

On the TV show Bewitched, they came back one season with another actor playing Darren, Samantha's husband (Dick York was the actor replaced [he had a back that went out]). They kept the character, just changed the actor playing the part.

I wish they had done that with Lily, but if I know what I think I know, it's already too late to do that..sad.gif
