Ok, this is weird but Aust and the UK (possibly europe, dunno whether house is shown in europe) have a different theme song to the massive attack one that you guys hear at the start of every house episode.
I dont know who performs it, I have heard it may be performed by Portishead but I cant narrow it down to any specific song of thiers. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this other song?. Track name/artist?.

I have actually tried looking through the credits of the show but the STUPID STUPID TV station which House is on splits the screen (with ads on top and the credits on the bottom) and the end credits get all bunched up and unreadable . the theme song aint even mentioned in the opening titles.

I know what your saying! I have the same problem, never really paid attention until this question came up. I always copy the show to my DVR, so yesterday I tried to play the ending real slow to see the music title...
Here's what I came up with:
Theme was from Massive Attack. I could barely read this next one, I may have not spelled the last names totally correct...The music by Jon Ehrlica and Jason Deplatica.
Hopes this helps...

I'm starting to think that this song may be a remix of the Tear Drop by Massive Attack song. It's got a similar drum beat.
Still digging on the net, so I can post an answer to myself

Anyway I have found samples of the two different themes. You will need to have quicktime to listen to both of these
The first one is the song that I hear at the start of every episode (NZ,UK & Eur hear this one too). Thank you some anonymous person at imdb house forum for posting the link there .

click here to listen to the US theme The non US theme was composed by Jon Ehrlich and Jason Derklatka. Non US countries dont get to hear the Massive Attack theme due to licensing restrictions (or due to some other legal thingy somewhere along those lines)

I couldn't open the link you have for the U.S. version. But the one you have for the non-U.S. is the one I get when the show plays in New York City.

I think all begginings of shows are different in the UK than in the US. When I went to England, they didn't play the beggining of the Law & Orders ("in the criminal justice system...") and the theme song was different, and the pictures were different. It's kinda cool to see something different after watching the same thing everytime you watch the show. As for House... I didn't get to see that in the UK, I wish I had.

Thanks to noisynobody22, this is a great site. For our new memebers, this site lists all of the episodes and the songs that are played. Tells who the artisit is, the song, the album/track and when the song was played during the show.
My favourite is from Control when Vogler confronts House at the Closing scene. House is playing the "air" drums, when Volgar comes in and tells him he has to fire someone...

Thanks for those links, Noisynobody. I've always wondered what the non-U.S. version sounded like. If you have the Season 1 DVD collection, that music is on the ending credits of each episode. We don't usually hear it on TV because there are always voice-overs and promotions at the end of each show during the closing credits.
