Next up to sing is Jared Ashley.
In his pre-recorded piece, he says:
"I've done so much in my life, that I never did plan to do. I never planned to join the military. I just woke up one day and said, 'Hey, I'm goin' in the military.' It ended up being the best thing I ever did. I spent 6 months in the Persian Gulf, on the U.S.S. Independence. About a year and a half ago my band, the Dirty South Band, started touring colleges, frat houses, college bars. And, last year, I probably did 160-200 dates. I look back on the last 10 years, and I'm amazed myself. I can't imagine what the next 10 years will be like." The song Jared sings is "Hicktown"
Anastasia: Jared, this hurts me more than you, but your performance was vanilla, and forgettable, and I have a funny feeling that this is our first and last date.
John: Well, personally, I don't think she's correct.

www.takethesurveynow.comI think you're the only honky tonk singer in this joint. I think you know how to get up around the stage that you've never been before, which is what this is tonight, and knock people in the butt with it one time. And you did a good job, my opinion.
Phil: If I hear another John Rich song tonight, I think.. oh man, I'm sorry. You picked a great song, and it's great energy and you had fun up there. I'm proud of you. You did a good job.
Wynonna: So, Jared, you've been traveling on the road, playing frat parties for the last couple years. How does the crowd here differ from a bunch of drinkin' college students.
Jared: Well, I don't think anybody's thrown up yet.
Wynonna: So, what's the highlight so far, here in Nashville?
Jared: It's gotta be meeting you. My mama's here. She's watching me stand next to you.
Wynonna: Ok, Jared Ashley, everybody.
My thoughts: This is a great song choice for Jared. He sings the heck out of this, and seems to have a great connection with the audience.
Next up to sing is Monique LeCompte.
In her pre-recorded piece, she says:
"Every reality show has one of each person. And, I think I'm the fat girl on the show. I'm the big girl. I'm a little thick. I'm more like everybody else, but you know that I can sing. And, I was raised by my grandparents. My parents just chose wrong paths for their lives. My grandparents didn't see it fit for me to be in that environment. This is what I've always wanted to be. I mean, whether it be tv, stage, theater, in a recording studio. I've always wanted to be the center of attention." The song Monique sings is "Like We Never Loved At All"
John: That's a good choice in a song. I like that one. You know what, you've got an outstanding voice. There's no doubt about it. I'm just not sure you're country. I mean to me, you're an outrageously gifted singer. But, I think you're more suited, in my opinion to Broadway or pop or something. I don't know. You're knocking it out. You're killing the notes. I just don't think you're country.
Kenny: *sings* Ava Maria.
Monique: I don't think you're country. I'm sorry.
Kenny: You know what? I don't think it makes a bit of difference. I'm all about just busting down every wall that exists, that contains anything in any box anywhere. So if you wanna bust.. I say take country music to another world. And go out there and make it that, plus country.
Anastasia: These guys are the perfect example of genres do not matter, but you are too theatrical. And that does matter. So walk away from the Broadway.
Phil: There's a lot of really good girls here tonight. I mean, here in the competition tonight. Step it up a notch. You're gonna be here next week. I promise. I'm telling you.
Wynonna: Monique. Never let them tell you who you are.
Monique: That's right, Wy.
Wynonna: And before I say anything else. I just have to say, Monique, you are so much more than a number on a scale. You hear me? And I know your grandmother is looking down tonight, and she's proud of you. You're one of the hardest working women I've met. You work three jobs, and you just keep on keepin' on. And let me tell you something. I'll work with you. I'll tour with you.
Monique: Thank you.
Wynonna: Monique LeCompte.
My thoughts: I love Monique's voice. I don't see what the judges are saying about her being dramatic. This is a Faith Hill song. She sings it this way. Why isn't it right for Monique to want to be a country singer singing a song that Faith Hill sang. I just don't see what is wrong with it. She kills on it. I love her singing. And, what is up with John Rich, who is in a group that is totally different from anyone else in country, and talks about loving all types of music, I don't see why he's telling her SHE is not country.
