Hey all you Monique Fans...On the General Thread, there has been some discussion about Monique. People would like to know more about her. I thought those of us that have been following her for years could write a little about her. Let's tell the world about why she is our STAR. Following is what I wrote:
Well, I met Monique when she was doing Karaoke at a family restaurant. Most people had raw talent and many sounded very good but when Monique got up and sang, at 13 years of age, she sent the chills up my spine and tears down my cheeks. I went up to tell her how awesome she was and she was the sweetest most sincere person I'd ever met. She genuinely appreciated my complement. She is so down to earth and we've been friends ever since.
Monique's grandmother took her around to all sorts of venues to perform. I've followed her to as many as I could. I don't know of any time period that she has not been performing. She has performed since the age of 5. She has done some theatre and is incredible in her acting as well.
The bio page says she has 3 jobs but that's not really true, she really has 4. She performs most weekends with her band. She doesn't call her performances a job because she is so at home performing.
Monique's family has talent and I know her grandmother sang when she was younger. Her grandmother really took Monique under her wing and trained her vocally and got her as much exposure as she could.
Monique has won many awards for her talent including the NACAMI Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist of the Year Traditional Country and most Promising Entertainer of the Year in 1999 at age 15.
The thing that gets me the most about this young lady is how deserving she is and how hard she's worked to get exposure and always seems to fall short of the "Right" exposure with the "Right" people. Also, she is such a funny, down to earth, unpretentious, genuine person.

I have known Monique for many, many years now. We went to high school together, and we instantly became best friends. She is not only a wonderful singer, she is the most loyal friend I have ever had. She has such gret talent, and we all love her. She's an inspiration to me and to my family. I am so proud of her, and I just can't wait to see the taping on the 14th.

I have been knowing Monique all her life. She is my niece, in fact, since she was raised by my parents she is practically my sister. Monique knows that she has my support 100%, however she also knows that just as she would be honest with me I too would be honest with her. If I thought that someone were better she would not at all be offended, in fact she would respect the honesty; just simply because she is an honest person herself. Monique is not looking for free-be hand outs. What ever she gains from this experience she will forever be grateful. Many have mentioned the many awards that Monique has won at beauty pageants and what not. But there is more to be said about that. See Monique is not your typical Jon Bonet pageant queen. When she won it was the result of her natural beauty and talent. Monique has blossomed far beyond my expectations. She is a hard working and genuine young woman, who deserves all that life has to offer. Since the passing of her grandparents (my parents) Monique has achieved so much. I am sure that my mother is gleaming down on her with much pride, and my father with great joy just hoping that she will sing his favorite song. In the event that Monique should have to walk away without the big prize, she will do so knowing that she has already won just to have had the experience, and she will be thanking the good Lord Above for all of her many blessings.
With each day that passes I pray that Monique does her best and has a blast doing it. I will be there on the 11th of April to witness first hand all of the performances and because Monique is who she is I have no doubt that she will still be there making me and the rest of the family, and all of her friends and fans proud to know her.
I love you Monique, keep up the good work and most of all have a great time. I will see you soon.

Thanx for sharing the wonderful insite to making Monique not just another contestant but also a person too.
I was most impressed about what I call the classic country look which is very classy and definately country. I think it complimented her smooth singing voice. GREAT JOB!!!

Well I have known Monique since I was 14. She was at my first Country Music Competition and she blew us all away. After that we took turns showin off. We have both won some of the same awards and I know how much she wants this. We both sang at the Norco Rodeo for several years and became good friends. Sadly we lost tough for a while. Last I heard she was a vocal coach and was taking a break. Well I am happy to see that it wasn't a long break. The Monique I know is a tenacious and passionate performer and has one heck of a set of pipes. You rock sister.... Keep in touch and You are in my prayers!
