Hi Everyone,
I finished a new John vid to the Garth Brook's song "Do What You Gotta Do" Have a looksy if you're interested.
I've also completed a new fic. This was meant to be ready for Christmas but real life got in the way.
The vid can be found here: Marimba26.com
Just follow the links to the John Smith and other character vids.
The fic can be found here: http://www.angelfire.com/dragon3/rurals-zone
The last one on the bottom of the content page.
Title: Message in a Bottle
Author: Ruralstar
Set: Between seasons four and five. An AU to the series’ Christmas episode
Spoilers: Specifically—Season One, “The House”, “Dinner with Dana” Season Three, “Finding Rachel pt1”, “Collision”, “Speak Now”, “Cycle of Violence”, “Shadows”, “Tipping Point” Season Four, “Broken Circle” Passing references to episodes spanning the length of the series up to and including season four’s “Saved”
Pairing: John/Rebecca
Warnings: Language and some graphic imagery
Rating: General
Summary: Ever since her brother died suddenly in a plane crash overseas, John has been a friend to young Lindsay Davis. He invites her and the entire neighborhood to a Christmas Open House, hoping to distract himself from the stresses of the past year. Lindsay has her own set of secrets however and John becomes painfully aware of how inattentive he has been as a friend. Lindsay’s actions bring an old friend to town, which forces John to see the past and the future in a new light.
A/N: After season four concluded I realized that TPTB of The Dead Zone were not going to deal with the Rebecca/John storyline or John’s headaches in any overt fashion. This story is one way to answer those questions.
I hope you all enjoy. FB is always appreciated.

Wow! I get a story to read while my ever so slow dial-up downloads a video! And a Rebecca story! No Alex! Best thing I can think of. LOL! I have noticed a lack of Alex in your stuff, especially that video that shows all of Johnny's love interest through Broken Circle.
I continue to love your stories about John. I just see him every time the way you write him! Poor Rebecca, a strong woman, but yet she's lost so much. Could she handle losing John too? But, as with all things, people rethink what they value in life when they are faced with its loss. Should you ignore it or embrace the time left. I still hope Rebecca comes back at the end if they decide not to go with Dana or <shudder> Alex.
You'll have to write us a nice ending for DZ if we can't get one, Ruralstar! I need closure!
Thanks again! The vid is about done, so I'm off to see it!

You won't find any John/Alex on my website. I've made no secret how much I detest that pairing LOL. Thanks so much for your compliments regarding John. He is a pleasure to try and capture. I thought of you when I posted this story as we both enjoy the John/Rebecca pairing.
I agree about closure. I'm hoping for the best in regards to the series. In Stargate I did not get the ending I was hoping for and I did write my own. While I don't mind doing that, I really don't want to.
Enjoy the vid.

That video was great too! I'm actually getting high speed internet in March!! We finally got the new puter but have to wait on installation of the highspeed. Until then it's nasty old dial-up. I do love the better Windows Media player because this was the first one I tried it out on.
You always know what to put in these videos! The way you ended it with Rebecca and "do what you gotta do"...now that's a powerful and scary message! But it was the truth!

Ruralstar,
Another good Fan Fic!
Have you ever thought of Borrowing Paige Kaile's Dark Ranger Character. I think one of the best moment and one of the funniest is in Necceccasry Conversations Pt 1 when Pat Kim and Bruce find Johnny experiencing a sensory overload from Pat's onyx mediditaion sphere. He asks her how she can live with so much and Pat says "Uh x-Files answer Do you really wanna know?" Kim Knowing that a good sidekick should know when to get lost, get's Bruce to show her where the local Whole Foods Store is. Leaving Pat to meet this head on and she does. Paige left the characters open just don't kill them! Pat (the dark Ranger Has been throught a lot I wish Paige would finish that Story! She brought it up to Part four. That's where she got stuck I guess. I don't think the Red Badger's site is still In operation, but I saved that Fic! But I would like an ending as long at it's not the end of any of the characters. Kerrigan Gladeon used the Dark Ranger in Choices and in Three options. I think I'll send you the Stories see what you think of this Texas relative.

Thanks Bratty. Making vids is a very high learning curve as my friend Marimba has often reminded me. I enjoy doing it though. Go you on the highspeed!

Glad you enjoyed the story.
No, I don't feel comfortable borrowing other people's original characters. I have written my own original fiction in the past and I know how personal the process can be. Writing fanfiction feels very different and I don't have the same reservations.

Oh, Rural, I just finished your latest fic and you do have a way with words. Thanks for filling in some of the holes. I got sucked into the story, it was a very emotional one. I've always been partial to the John and Rebecca pairing, they look so good together. I'm going to get to the vid tomorrow.

your vids rock ruralstar. I remember you telling me you would make them smaller but it would take so long and i was wondering could put smaller versions of them on my site. they would not loose quaility or anything they would just be smaller like mine you know so people with dial up like me could get smaller versions of them and see them a lot faster. So may i?

Hey Latoya,
I appreciate the offer and I understand completely how frustrating it can be on dial-up. However, I would prefer if you just linked to Marimba's site from yours. She does her best to crunch them down while still maintaining the integrity of the original. Let me know when your site is up and I'll link you off of my main page. I would be happy to make a banner for you if you haven't time to make your own. Just let me know.

Loved the vid Rural, saw it this morning. Now I'm not a big Garth Brooks fan but I have to say that I really liked that song. "Do What You Gotta Do" is one of my favorite phrases, nice to hear it in a song. I also like the scenes you picked to go with it, they matched up nicely.

I'm not a big Garth fan either. I bought the CD set for my mother for Xmas. I was pretty surprised to find a song I could use on it. Glad you liked.
