Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don't remember Gretchen going for the crotch shot under a guitar player?????????

I think Jewels is a good singer but not Gretchen's calibre, not saying she can't get there, but she's not there yet. As for looks, well I think a few people would beg to differ. I think it's Jewels singing that got her this far.

That "crotch shot" was about a 10-foot-long knee slide at a key moment in the song, and the guitar player stepped forward. Pretty cool moment, and one of the few really inspired moments from the regional finals in total.

Many have commented on her looks, voice, etc... Everyone's entitled to their opinions, certainly. I haven't experienced any of the other NS4 artists live, but I can tell you - I find it hard to believe that there's anyone who can win over a crowd like Jewels.

She also is a killer writer - she wouldn't be the only one of the NS4 artists with a publishing deal if she wasn't. Did anyone catch her at Blue Bird with Steve Seskin ("Daddy's Money", etc.) two weeks ago? WOW!

First I'd like to say way to go mud flap girl! I knew you'd make it! Best of luck to you this season on the show.

Second as for the crotch move under the guitar player... Hot!
That's just one of the things fans love about Jewels. She is spontaneous and fun. She's got alot of guts, more than me, that's for sure!

I'm w/ you about Jewels! I did not see her @ the show you mentioned, but I have seen her perform @ the Saddle Rack in Fremont. She rocks! And she Brings it to every performance.
I have her cd, it's awesome. I love alot of the songs she wrote!

I must say there are alot of talented people to be on NS4. I am anxiously waiting for NS4 to start in March.

she used to have a picture on her "personal" myspace site of her naked from the waist up with a cowboy hat covering her breasts... I found it interesting that it's gone now...

I feel she uses sensationalism to push her music across because the talent is clearly not there. I look for her to go in the early rounds unless the show wants to keeps her around because of the controversey.

Half naked? Really?! Wow, that's an interesting claim - and it's not there anymore? Man, if we could confirm it that would REALLY drive ratings up! I heard she got arrested for coed naked cow-tipping in the middle of Times Square with Elvis! I saw it on the internet so it must be true!

As long-time dancers in the Bay Area, we have had the mostly unfortunate experience of seeing, hearing and meeting Jewels too many times to count at the Saddle Rack in Fremont, CA, for the last 3 years. At times she can be very good; trouble is, those times are few and far between.

Generally she is loud, crass, obnoxious and in dire need of more clothes. No one likes to see the jiggles around the waist: "If you cant carry it, cover it." Jewels needs to cover it. Trust this, a half-nekkid picture of her on her web site is not something anyone needs to see.

Her attitude is not endearing either. Her act onstage is very similar to the personality we have seen offstage and she shoves it down your throat. The "redneck diva" just doesn't play with us. When she just relaxes and sings she does very well. Nearly everything else is so overdone it is just annoying.

As far as her looks being beautiful.... take the beer goggles off! She would be mostly forgettable if not for her shoving her self-proclaimed "Travis Tritt with #its" attitude down our throats. Her attitude and lack of clothing may play into the cringing feeling we get when we see what she is not wearing this weekend, but it is the only place to dance in the area.

We are not alone though and will be cheering with our friends whole-heartedly for our Jewels to win. We will be voting en mass in hopes that she wins so we can get a new singer for our house band, Appaloosa. We used to like the male singer (Thumper) who was part of the original group until, as we heard it, Jewels didn't like sharing the stage and he disappeared - never to be heard of again. We think it was the West Coast branch of the muzik mafia that got him whacked! LOL

Oh, come on! THUMPER?! Really? Any bouncer at the Saddlerack has a better voice than that poser! He disappeared for two reasons: first, he could barely fit his head thru the door in the first month, and second he didn't know any country music! Jewels had nothing to do with that - he got canned by the owners!

I will admit that Jewels plays to the crowd on a Saturday night, that's for sure. Perhaps that's why you continue to pay your $15 every Saturday night. There are plenty of other places to go in the Bay Area. The fact that Appaloosa packs that place out every night is a testament (in part, remember that the band kicks ass...) to Jewels' energy and professionalism, regardless of whether or not you like her personal style...

As for another singer for Appaloosa, Jewels has brokered a little surprise for everyone at the 'rack while she's on the show. A Nashville Star - related surprise. More details to come...

Ya'll just don't even know yet. Jewels is Rockin!!!!!! She can out perform a lot of people.....You may not know why... It's because she has it....and she worked very very hard to get where she is. Jewels is my girl but she is also my competition and I have no problem saying that she is an amazing performer. Her and I have competed against eachother several times and she always hails the winner, she knows what it takes to get the crowd going. Not to mention she is an amazing songwriter hopefully you will all get to see her sing "Luckiest girl I know" It's my favorite and I was even lucky enough to sing it with her band at the Saddle Rack Idol competition. Let me tell you Jewels should not be compared to Gretchen just because they are both rugged rocking country gals. They are both very original in there own ways and it is wrong to catorgorize them.See what you think and don't forget to vote for the best person wether it is Jewels or not....Don't vote for your crush vote for the most talented competitor. Jewels is my buddy but if she doesn't bring it then she doesn't have my vote.....I doubt this would happen though, she always brings it.....I am soooooo proud of you girl!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you'll show all the trash talkers what they've been missing

I am not sure what exactly you are referring to with Jewels and no talent in the same sentence.
You may think the Saddle Rack is nothing but a bunch of tone def drunks, but that's where you are wrong! I am also a singer and I have sang with Jewels band at the Rack before. There is definitely TALENT there with a capital T!

As for Gretchen not sliding on her knees "crotch shot". Gretchen is far from innocent herself. She's a rough and tough Redneck Woman. Who has shown her camoflauge bra. Big Bleepin deal!

If Jewels just stood on stage with no stage pressence what so ever you'd talk smack. But she is not like that, she is spunky and very entertaining. So what is wrong with that?

It's not easy getting up on a stage and do your thing and doing it well in front of all those people. It takes alot of guts and talent to pull that off.

I don't feel some of the video clips everyone has had access to does all these contestents justice. I have heard Jewels cd and heard her live at the Rack and I feel the video clip I recently saw from Nashville was my least favorite! She is far more talented than shown in that little clip.

I have no doubt that she will make it far in NS4.
I know I'll sure be voting for her!

I support Jewels too I think she has a lot of talent and I really like her songwriting skills. I hope she goes far in the competition. I have my top 3 including Chris Young of course:)
