SVU will probably be farther down now in the ratings because of American Idol and that new show Skating With Celebrities.

Haha.. me too!! I'm happy for Grey's.... Anyway SVU... I think it's mainly because of American Idol, but there will always be big reality shows on or football or baseball to make SVU's slot lower, unfortunatley.

Although it may be upsetting that reality shows are attracting more viewers than SVU , we should still be happy that it made it into the top 20. I know how hurtful it is to hear from other people of how "csi is great- better than svu" or "you should watch american idol- its better than svu" or things related to that which aren't tru, but people who don't watch svu and make in fun of it who have never seen it or have heard of it just really don't know what they're missing. I know that once those people see a few episodes of svu, they will soon regret what they said. But all in all, i just really hope SVU gets more and more viewers, because it deserves to beat all these other shows that are unrealistic.

I've watched SVU since Season 1 and thought it was one of the best shows on tv. I also watched American Idol since it's first season in 2002. You don't have to dislike one show to like another. I loved each show for different reasons. SVU because it deals with controversial topics and it has great acting. I love AI because I've loved talent shows since forever, some of the people and activities on that show make me laugh, and sometimes a singer blows me away with their performance. I wish both shows could be the top two rated shows every week (SVU in the top slot of course).

did you watch AI today...the best singer i heard was the 17 year old dark skinned girl...the one with the famous mother...i forget her name....she was really good...

I do agree with you, because i really have nothing against American Idol (i actually watched every single ep that season). It's just that i think too many people are thinking reality is AI type of reality, but in my opinion, i think that real reality is what goes on in SVU and all the other law and orders; rape after rape, murder after murder, crime after crime, and death after death- not a very happy type of reality, but something that happens around us everyday.

unfortunately i agree with you...after teaching in the inner city i cant tell you how much it sucks when i am told that one of my students was killed...

OH MY GOD! That little 17 year old girl with the squeaky speaking voice was amazing. She was so good, I was blown away. IMO, that was the best audition I've seen on Idol in a couple of seasons. Her grandmother is Ann Nesby, she was with a group called the Sounds of Blackness back in the day. That girl is my favorite to win this season. She was so mature and when she sang that Billie Holiday song she seem like she could have been on a stage right here in New Orleans singing Jazz in 1920s.

I agree with you. Frankly, I don't know why they called those shows reality. Amazing Race should be called a contest, AI-a talent show, Survivor-masochism. Reality tv is the shows on the discovery health channel that follow people through the stages of having a cancerous growth removed or deciding whether to have chemotherapy or radiation. You know, stuff that actually deals with real life occurances not contrived plots.

Irisheyes, I am so sorry about your student. It was so devestating when a few months ago I heard about a girl in my graduating class that was killed. You never think these things will hit close to home and when they do they knock the breath right out of you.

Yeah, I agree. Where I grew up (crime-ridden poor neighborhood in the sometimes Murder Capitol of the United States New Orleans) these things hit close to home everyday.
