I'm not going to see this as a disappointment. Maybe USA is transitioning into year-round new programming. I love Psych, but I like In Plain Sight and Burn Notice almost as much. I'm also looking forward to Royal Pains. And because of the changes, we've had new programming since early April. Usually it was late February until July. It would be worse if we didn't have @Psychwrites to keep us pumped for the return. And you don't have to join twitter to read their twitter. Just www.twitter.com/psychwrites will get you there. So let's not be too unhappy. They are working very hard to please so many of us. Yay! them. We'll just be better tanned at the premiere. August is such a hot month, we'll be happier indoors then anyway.
Have I Pollyanna-ed everyone into a diabetic coma yet?
Ha! "Pollyanna-ed"! I like it! And you're so much more capable of optimism than the rest of us right now...
I do like the idea of almost always having new programming on USA, because in spite of my (very high) level of annoyance right now, it is still my favorite network by leaps and bounds. It's just sooooo long to wait. And when we've been spreading our patience just enough to make it through until July, some of us might be running it very thinly by the end. And it could possibly be considered "cruel and unusual". I may have to go consult the Bill of Rights on that one...

I said before that I thought they might be strategically placing it to come on after Burn Notice & Royal Pains finish up. I think it might be because it's Monk's last season, they want to place it like that. I'm not sure, I'm obviously not a network exec, but I'm sure they have some rhyme and reason to this decision. I'm going to look at the bright side on this one. In Plain Sight has been new since April, Burn Notice & Royal Pains start next week, then Psych will start up to finish the summer out right. I love USA Network programming. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm a slave to it lol.

I'm sad that it was true August is way too long to wait!! And July 21 first for the DVDs still seems really long. How will I survive without Psych for another few months????

Once I got over the shock of it yesterday, I've decided that's probably it. And now I'll just have to resign myself to the fact that this is how it is until August. I don't like it, though! I'm finding myself wishing it was Burn Notice that was getting pushed until later, but they've been filming it longer and it's probably more ready to go. And they want to stretch out the "Monk thing" as long as they can.

I think you're right...it's great for marketing...plus you miss all the big huge summer movies that come out on Fridays. August will be slower for the "big movies" (well..except for GI JOE).
And the DVDs will pop up right when they start their promos for Season 4.
So it is a good marketing move.
But Psych-O-lly speaking, I WANT IT EARLIER...but I totally understand.
Okay..I feel better now...well..onto writing that fanfic/script thingie with Shawn, McNabb and Inigo.

I was surprised when I saw Burn Notice was coming back so early, but then realized it was the vehicle for Royal Pains. That was strategically placed as well to draw viewers in to the new show next week. I won't complain though, because I watch Burn Notice. Indeed if I had it my way Psych would be on as soon as possible, though. I agree, I'm thinking they're going to milk Monk's final season very much. I already have a feeling it's ratings are going to skyrocket because of it coming to an end. It pulls great ratings regardless, though.

Well it's nice that they have mini Monk promos already. I makes me sad that he's "packing". But I look forward to watching both Monk and Psych...whoohoo!!!!

Oh I love Burn Notice. And Royal Pains looks very promising (I really do have a lot of faith in USA's programming). The Psych situation is going to be a drag, though.
I've been wondering: What kind of mystery will they pair Psych with for season 5? What will the twist on the detective be? Will it even be a mystery? (I can't imagine not, though)

Yeah, I started thinking about that when I saw that Burn Notice was changing times to segway in to Royal Pains. Who knows...only time will tell...

USA Network has added another series to its growing lineup. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has issued a series order for White Collar.
The series, created by Jeff Eastin, revolves around the odd-couple pairing of a con man (Matthew Bomer) and the head of the FBI's white-collar crime unit (Tim DeKay). Tiffani Thiesen and Willie Garson will also star in the series.
The series was given a 13-episode order, along with the 90-minute pilot, and it was said that the show could be paired with Psych, since its lead-in show Monk is going into its final season.

I hadn't seen that yet. It definitely looks like a potential fit. I'd be anxious to see the pilot before I was completely confident with the Psych-White Collar pairing. (How cool is that?! Whatever gets paired with it, Psych gets listed first now! )

**sigh** August. . .So far away! Oh well, I guess. Wish the DVD could come out a bit sooner, but the anticipation will just keep building and when I finally have it in my hands it will be probably the best day of summer.

Yes, August 7th is a long time to wait, but we can survive!!!! And yes, this is the final season of Monk, so naturally, the network would want the ratings for the return of both Monk and Psych to be huge and away from The Closer which starts June 8. And this year, there is no tennis!!!! Yes, USA lost the rights to the US Open, so no interruptions!! If you feel it is starting late now, I believe it will start later in the winter because of the Winter Olympics on NBC and its NBC owned stations. Vancouver, which is the home where Psych is filmed, is hosting the Winter Olympics!!!
And just because USA ordered a pilot named White Collar, doesn't mean that they will aired it with Psych. Tim Matheson was supposed to have a show on the network, but it never materialized. It became a movie instead.
So cheer up! I trust USA in do the right thing when it comes to programming. They are not number one for nothing!!!
