While I think that a "Psych" musical would be amazing, I don't know how well it would work. I'm a HUGE musical fan. It might only work depending on what the exact storyline of that particular case is. It also might depend on where you put the songs. Some of the most successful musicals, and I tend to agree with this theory, work well because they put the songs in logical places where the characters would naturally sing anyways. They don't just put a song in there just for the sake of putting a song in there. Or some musicals put songs in where the characters have so many emotions that the only way to effectively get them out would be to sing a song. I think characterwise, "Psych" would do well because there's a lot of character development and the characters also have some quirks to them (ex: Shawn's photographic memory) which would go over well with a live audience. Another plus would be the "Psych" is somewhat comedic, which audiences tend to to respond well too. Having been in a few comedies myself, I can tell you that the comedies were the most successful overall. Anyways, that's my rant for now, I'll probably come up with more later

How about a spoof of a musical, like a bit from Momma Mia? Can you imagine the cast of Psych singing Abba hits? Not that it would happen though. It would be nice if they would bring back the Psych-outs!

I totally signed! A Psych musical would be amazing! They'd definitely beat Scrubs! Don't get me wrong, I love the Scrubs musical, but I think Psych could top them. Mostly because pretty much every member of the cast can sing!
--------------------
Shawn: “Lassie, good news! We got you a grape one!” Lassie: “I told you I don’t want a popsicle.”
Lassie: "I thought I told you no." Shawn: "But your eyes said yes."
Lassie: "I need to get something off my chest." Shawn: "Is it your shirt? Please say no." Lassie: "You astound me."
Shawn [to Lassie]: "You are so sexy right now!"
Shawn: "You really wanna know my process?" Lassie: "Absolutely." Shawn: "It usually starts with a holla! And ends with a Creamsicle." Gus: "Then if there's time in between, Thundercats HO!!!" Lassie: "I'm dead."

Hmm, well yes I think Psych could do a very good job with it, the only thing is they'd have to have a legitamate reason for the singing, Scrubs did a good job with that because the woman imagined the singing and she was always in the room when the characters were singing. It'd be easy for it to just be a dream, and Shawn was watching something with singing or something... but that's copying the Even Stevens musical episode, if they do it I'm sure the writers would pull it off well.
I need to put up more lyrics...
--------------------
"The Psychic criminal catching portion of the day is about to begin." "No! Ju are wrong! I am not the murderero! But I know who is-o..." "First of all we're growing moustaches very, very slowly..." "You see this? This is the Lodge Radar, and this is me flying underneath it. And look down here, it's Gus. He can't fly." "Hey! Gus is one sixteenth robot! And not the evil take oner the world "I Robot" kind!" "What do they have at Red Robin?" "I call it... 'Very Close Talking'" "Official Eppy/Interesting Topic Starter of the CMP^2"

Another thing just came to mind: are we talking about a live show like on Broadway or just something like a episode that's a musical? Either way, while I do think that the cast could pull it off, I'm still a little unsure about if it would work or not.

A musical episode... and I know the cast and crew (i.e. Steve) would *love* to have a musical episode. (Yes, just like Buffy, Scrubs, and Chicago Hope have all had musical episodes.) If, or *when*, it happens, it will work because Psych is just awesome that way to make thing work (like a sea lion being murdered or a dinosaur killing someone).

I can see them having fun with it...they look like they have fun during the musical Psych-outs!!!! I'm still kind of unsure about how well it would work but I don't think that they'd have too much of a problem pulling it off.

I could be on board for this. I'd even be more enthusiastic if the producers/writers could somehow collaborate with Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks for the "libretto".
For those of you not familiar with Sparks, they're the ones who wrote the "Pineapple" [Pineapple... Gotta send a case to the city jail...] song.
And they've already written a radio musical about acclaimed Swedish director Ingmar Bergman that'll premiere next week (http://radiodupree.blogspot.com/2009/05/sparks-meet-ingmar-bergman.html). So if Ron and Russell can write a musical on such an enigma, they'd be a shoe-in to do one for a show as quirky as they are.
You can see a bit of a musical "meme" in their concerts:

Speaking of that Ingemar Bergman musical, you can listen to it in its entirety here.
EDIT: They moved this recording into their archives:
