First, I do not consider myself a prude. I love movies, I love the movie "40-Year-Old Virgin". I love crass humor, think it's often hysterical, especially when in the hands of the hugely talented Steve Carell, etc.

HOWEVER, when I turned on the TV this morning, I was surprised to find this movie playing on USA on Sunday at 10 a.m.

I had to think about children all over this country who are probably playing in front of the TV on Sunday a.m. while their parents try to wake up with that first cup of coffee, and end up seeing this movie. The ENTIRE movie is predicated on sexual humor, and includes innumerable references to sex, drugs, bestiality, swearing, sex toys, drunken slobbering idiots.... I could go on.

I do not think this is appropriate programming for Sunday morning. Let's let kids stay kids for just a few more years before exposing them to this kind of movie. This movie should be saved for later-evening programming, after the kids are presumed to be in bed.

I am a realist. I do not really think that every child in this country is in bed at 8 p.m., or that kids may have not already been exposed to this movie by their "fun-loving" parents. But it's like when I go into an R-rated movie and there are parents in there who have brought kids with them. Why do that when there are so many other entertainment options out there? (like nature?) Kids ABSOLUTELY absorb what they are seeing and hearing. Just because they are young and may not understand it all does not mean it is not shaping them in some way. We as a society need to act responsibly, whether or not all parents do.

Please write to USA and ask that they air "40-Year-Old Virgin" (and all movies with similarly adult content) only during prime-time viewing hours.

Thank you.

Dude, that wasn't even cool what you just said there.
You know what they're saying. You're not stupid so if there's a bleep out, use your mind to figure out what they said.

I could live without programming like this at any time of the day or night. I find nothing original or creative about movies like this.

I could have swore in the movie she said it was by Missy Elliot.  I looked on Google and I think it is Get Ur Freak On by Missy Elliott.

I've seen this movie, and it's hilarious.. So what's wrong in airing this? I've seen other channels even air vulgar nonsensical movies.. So what's wrong in airing this?

There is nothing wrong with airing the movie. It is very funny. However the 10PM time slot would be a little more appropriate than 10AM.JMHO

I have nothing to add. You have completely reflected my thoughts on this problem. Tha fact is that people do not care what there children are watching, and how it influence on there psyche, mentality.

When we were young - television was mor conservative, and it was real good. Now movie directors think only about ratings and money. Shame....
I enjoy super cars! Here they are...

At one point in time, I was becoming very annoyed that USA seemed intent on showing every Steven Segall movie ever made. At least his movies don't have this objectionable content. And I just recently saw a TV biography on that guy--a very decent man from what I saw. I still have no interest in his movies but now have a real respect for the man.

I get sick and tired of these arguments saying just let your kids be exposed to everything because it's all out there. Um, no. Screw up your own kids, leave mine alone. Why is vulgar content okay as long as the movie is 'funny' ?? That's a 17-year-old boy's argument.

Are we going to stop showing sex on all channels at all hours when everyone in the country is sexually dysfunctional? USA just showed porn on my set at 7:30 this morning. And what's annoying, everyone who makes these 'oh grow up' arguments makes them in such an aggressive fashion. Like everyone who uses more discretion or arrives at a different, more conservative opinion is just so obviously an idiot and of course, they're the cool kid in school. Maybe we just don't want sexually dysfunctional, heartless kids? Think sex belongs everywhere it's shown and at all hours? You need to grow up.

I just blocked USA on my TV. The only thing I was watching now was Wings and Burn Notice anyway. I'll netflix them. I'm no prude by any stretch of the imagination. This sort of thing where sex is just everywhere and getting shoved down my throat at all hours--I'm about as turned off as I've ever been. It's like watching someone use the toilet. My son's grown, and thank god, he has a healthy respect for sex and for women. We're not c** receptacles, and putting sex out there the way they do--that's what that does to people. It deadens them, particularly men.

I will bet a very large amount of money that you're correct.

And to disneyswift, sex is infinitely worse than violence. Human beings can comprehend violence, whereas sexual content works on the psyche. It's inappropriate for 7:30 in the morning.

Gotta love these people that just claim to have no problem at all with sex--that's bs. If you don't realize where and when it's appropriate, you have major emotional and psychological issues with sex. That's dysfunctional.

People who have a healthy perspective on sex realize it doesn't belong everywhere. Violence, because we're just another kind of animal and because it's part of our nature and instincts, does NOT work on our psyche the way sex does. You can really screw a kid up exposing them to sex 1) way too early, and 2) in a skewed context like TV--because you can't see it from the inside where love and intimacy are found. You can NOT experience sex from the outside. This kind of stuff deadens us.

What I find really offensive is this imposing of hollywood morality on the rest of the country. Anyone who takes their moral cues from hollywood is just completely lost. And it's not just the 'midwest' that has a problem with this garbage on their TV sets--unless you want to consider every single state other than California to be the midwest. We resent others taking it upon themselves to show things to our kids that we don't approve of. WE get to raise our kids the way we want to. WE like having marriages that last more than fourteen months. WE like having kids that don't get caught having sex on the bus and in the back of the algebra classroom. WE like having 9-year-old boys that don't gang-rape 6-year-old girls. WE like having kids who don't think that group sex is normal or acceptable. WE like having kids that realize you don't sleep with someone you have absolutely no feelings for.

Love them, hate them, or be indifferent, these people are the most disturbed, unbalanced, dysfunctional people in the country, and we're taking cues on morality from them. USA's been blocked on my TV set ever since they aired the porn at 7:30 in the morning. And no, you can't redefine pornography for me. That was pornography. People having sex on TV or in a movie or the pages of a magazine is pornography.

Google William Durant. As to society rotting and how great societies conquer themselves from the inside and then disappear--he hits every nail right on the head.

W Durant "can think of no moral code that survived the death of its gods and no society that survived the death of its moral code."

We realize these people are dysfunctional, but their antics are somehow no longer a punch line on the cover of a tabloid. We're imitating them and emulating them now. If their lives are screwed up, what do we think our lives will be when we go out and do the same things?

As to Durant's quote above, I haven't been to church but one time since Jimmy Carter was president. I'll tell you what, though--if you need god in order to live a decent life, then go get god. I don't give a damn which one you get. Just pick one. I turn on my TV set and think there's just no purpose to life at all. If these producers and movie makers have to show an actual sex scene, they do not have even one tenth of the skill and brilliance their predecessors had who couldn't go that far even if they wanted to. They produced some of the most erotic scenes ever made, showing only a kiss. And I'm going to come right out and say it: sex without emotion, consideration, and caring IS violence.

You can NOT experience sex and intimacy from the outside. That's where it's skewed, and that's where it twists and pulls at people's psyches. Realize that, and get this porn and garbage off my set.

Disneyswift, thank you very much for showing in grand, glaring fashion just what kind of person this programming panders to. I'd go even farther with it than that: you are exactly the kind of person this progamming creates. Aggressive, arrogant, uneducated, with hostility toward women and a hooker's mentality toward sex. Little 13-year-old boys do stuff like call people douche bags and try to say the grossest thing they can think of, thinking that would actually hurt someone's feelings.

I wonder if any of these executives are paying attention to the way people are starting to act? It's causing mental illness. I keep saying it over and over--sex works on the psyche. You're making people mentally ill. It's not apparent from the responses from this person? Do we not yet have enough people walking around that are just completely dead inside? Do you all just keep throwing this garbage on the tv and cashing your checks?
