I didn't care for The Starter Wife the first couple of episodes, it was okay, but didn't knock my socks off. But I adore Debra Messing, so I continued to watch and before I realized it, I was anxiously awaiting Friday nights to get my fix!! I love it now - a real guilty pleasure!!
So USA, you better be reading your fans and bring us more Starter Wife episodes soon!

Are there plans to re-up Starter Wife in 2009? SO hoping answer is YES!!
USA has been awfully quiet about the future of the "Starter Wife." The ratings have been really low for this second installment of the series (think near 2 million), and it only got a single Golden Globe nod for Debra Messing. I'm not sure if that's enough to keep it afloat. Think from the network's standpoint. Do you want to spend millions in production costs for this series when re-runs of "House" get higher ratings. If it were a huge hit, USA would've already announced an order for a 3rd season. Sad to say, I don't think it will get another season because not enough viewers tuned in.

I love the show. I disocvered it by accident during the first season and watched it faithfully. Then I waited and waited and waited......and thought it would not return. So, being that I rarely watch USA ( Starter Wife and Monk is it for us), I didn't realize it was going to ever return. While I am quite happy that I discovered it again, it does not surpise me at all that everyone did not tune back in. They are probably now interested in another show on another network. That's what happens when viewers have to wait too long. Most people don't have time to look up shows on the net and search through blogs to determine if they will ever get to see there show again.

Secondly, I guess I was wondering why "wordm" is even on the Starter Wife forum if they hated the show and Debra Messing that badly? Does anyone else seem to think that's a contradiction?

I think it's a great show, and after ALL the advertising USA did to get the ball rolling, they really should keep the show going.
Some shows may be slow starting off, wasn't Seinfeld one of those shows that wasn't so hot at first?
Saturday Night Live as well?
I'm so tired of companies that create something and then don't follow through because it didn't become widely popular overnight. It's a great show, give it a little more time before pulling the plug, geez.
I really really love The Starter Wife, I have my DVR set up to record all new episodes, and I've been waiting and waiting for another. now I log onto USA and see that there's no information whatsoever as to any new episodes or anything at all.
I do have to say one thing, I think they OVER advertised this one, and that may have been a mistake. I got so sick of seeing the previews for the show months before it ever started, I almost didn't watch it at all. They really bombarded us with ads.
Seriously though, I think many people end up "accidentally" discovering many of their favorite shows. Put a good movie or a popular show on, such as House, and then have The Starter Wife run immediately following the popular shows. Eventually people will start discovering the show and I think it will catch on.
How about instead of 100 House marathons, throw in a Starter Wife every now and then? Mix it up a little.

Just because they over advertised the first season should not mean that they don't advertise the second season. I check the web every few weeks to see if there is any news on the new season. I am so anxious to find out what happens.
I watch USA all the time, Monk, Pysch, Burn Notice, even all the re run show, House, Law and Order, but I really want The Starter Wife back!! AHHH.... I am so frustrated, this is the first show in a very long time that I got excited about to watch!
BRING BACK THE STARTER WIFE!!!!!!

I had a feeling when I saw previews of Chris in a new show during the Academy Awards last night...so I went and looked and unfortunately this show has been cancelled. Chris Diamantopoulos will be in the new show, "Under New Management." I'm glad to see him sticking around on tv. I can't wait to see even more from him!

I wished it would as well.. I really have enjoyed the series.. Debra Messing is an awesome actress and all the characters were great together. I would love to see the show continue. its so much more entertaining that so many other shows on tv these days.
Heres hoping something good happens.
