Hey guys, as you know, this year makrs 20 years of the birth of WCW.
as you know:
The WCW has carried on the tradition of the U.S. Heavyweight Championship as well as the spirit of the NWA.
However, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship has been one of the most respected titles in Pro Wrestling.
Despite Vince McMahon and Triple H making wisecracks about WCW and despite their comments about David Arquette and Vince Russo, their have been some REAL Champions, and so I would like to know, your thoughts on the WCW World Heavyweight Champions, from the Nitro days, the WWE Invasion days, and the Pre-Nitro days of WCW.
Here they are:
STING (who also held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1990) Ric Flair Lex Luger Hulk Hogan Randy Savage The Giant (before he was The Big Show in the WWE) Goldberg Big Sexy Kevin Nash Diamond Dallas Page (Ex-Husband of Kimberly Page) Bret Hart the late Chris Benoit Sid Vicious Jeff Jarrett (before he was the King of the Mountain of TNA) Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner Booker T. (Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game was his slogan) Big Van Vader Ron Simmons (before he was Farooq)
So please, tell me your thoughts on these men who have held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
Here's STING holding the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in WCW from 1990:
Here's Ron Simmons holding the WCW World Heavyweight Championship after Ric Flair took the NWA World Title w/him to the WWE:

STING.....A legend,he was one of the Most Popular guys in WCW and during the Monday Night Wars could stand toe to toe with GoldBerg in Popularity!
Ric Flair......A Legend,he was ''The Man'',very entertaining and humble,he is an inspiration to many young wrestlers
Lex Luger......I never cared for Lex Luger,he just was never that great to me
Hulk Hogan....A legend and an Icon in wrestling despite how horrible he is outside the ring but i give him credit in the ring,he made wrestling popular!
Randy Savage.... A legend but OverLooked alot,he was entertaining,he deserves alot more credit then he gets
The Giant....I first saw him back in 1997,he was fighting David Flair,he was a power house in WCW,and in very great Shape, its a shame he is not as big in WWE.
Goldberg....Made WCW Popular during the middle of the Monday Night Wars,he was not the best wrestler but was ok,and made alot of money for WCW
Big Sexy Kevin Nash....A legend,he was a very good Big Man,and could cut some decent promos
Diamond Dallas Page (Ex-Husband of Kimberly Page)....He was Old for a wrestler but very entertaining BANG!
Bret Hart....Another legend,he may not be the best but he is one of them and looks like WWE finally wants his respect and WWE starting to show him some respect
the late Chris Benoit....He was only WCW Champion for 24 hours but was very deserving of it considering all the hard work he did in WCW.I was glad when he finally won the World Heavyweight Championship!
Sid Vicious....Another good big man but he was not really a major player when i watched WCW it always seemed like he was out
Jeff Jarrett....He was OK in WCW as a heel, believe it or not at one time back in 2000 he was my favorite wrestler in WCW,ok i said it LOL!
Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner.....He is not one to Sugar coat things,he was entertaining no doubt about it
Booker T.......Was awesome in WCW,he was the ultimate Baby Face in The last months of WCW but its ashame he was never a major PLAYA before so many veterans were leaving WCW.
Big Van Vader....I never really followed him
Ron Simmons.....Very Deserving but when he was in WCW i was not watching it at that time but i have heard good things about his time in WCW.
Now TnaLD and everybody else i want to add some more,What do you guys think of the WWE Guys that Held the WCW World HeavyWeight Championship during the Invasion:
Kurt Angle
The Rock
Chris Jericho

Very good RKO1, and the reason I've posted this is for those that have missed this and also, b/c November will mark 20 years since Ted Turner bought JCP and turned it into WCW.
Oh, and ratedrko1, what do you think about the WCW World Heavyweight Titles
The NWA World Heavyweight Title that STING's got and the NEW WCW World Heavyweight Title that Ron Simmons got that is similar to the WWE Winged Eagle Heavyweight Title.

Thanks! Well of course i liked the Big Gold Belt the best! The one that Ron Simmons had was Ok but the Big Gold Belt looks like its worth more and a Bigger belt. You could tell that was a World Championship while the other belt looked like it could have been a secondary Championship!

Well here's what someone said on another forum:
Personally, I never thought Diamond Dallas Page had what it took to be a World Champion. He was over, true, but he couldn't control a match, his mic skills have been overrated, and his in-ring skills were really dependent on who he was facing. His matches with Eddie and Sting were great, but his matches with Goldberg and Jarrett were dreadful. I think if his rise to the top, and by that I mean his actual title wins, was more constructed, instead of just the Fatal 4-Way and the Arquette angle, then I'd have a beeter taste in my mouth for Page. Sure, he could've eventually been World Champion with just a bit more guidance from the booking team, but a three time World Champion? Eh, not quite.
Jarrett is a very similar story, but he had a very rich history with regional companies and titles, and he is at least a believable champion. But once again, he didn't deserve every belt he got.
Luger was a joke at that point in his career. His win and loss to Hogan were even bigger jokes.
Benoit's title win was a goodwill message from Kevin Sullivan, but Benoit had watched the company crumble, and he didn't accept. The bad blood between those two was awful, and Benoit just had to get out fast.
Hart's reigns still leave me scratching my head. Okay, his entire tenure in WCW does. They were just so forced. The only message I ever got was "Hey, this is the guy who held the WWF Championship. Now he has the WCW Championship."
Scott Steiner, ugh. The fact that he can gloat about being a has-been champion in a dying company disgusts me, more than his matches did.
There was never a good quality to Sid.
Hogan abused the belt. Period.
Aside from those guys, it's a very impressive list. Nash and Goldberg had their moments and matches, and everybody else was the elite of the company. Vader was THE man in his reign, and I can watch his match against the British Bulldog over and over again. Flair, Sting, and Savage managed to string together some amazing matches, mostly between each other. The Giant and Simmons accomplished to of the biggest achievements with the WCW Belt; first African American World Champion and youngest, of all time, World Champion.
