Kroger mentioned Radical Cognitive Bonding in Three Julies. Is this a real psychological concept? I only found partial matches in Google. Of course the whole thing was a joke on the film Psycho.

The Five Stages of Grief mentioned in Gets A New Shrink is a real phenomena: Wikipedia

There have been several cases where people haven't given up their dead, but as for pretending/believing they're still alive, I don't know. I imagine... someone with schizophrenia could be "radically bonded."

And yep, the stages of grief thing has been studied for a while now.
