Shawn's Grandmother Options

As some of you may know, Jeanne Cooper of "The Young and Restless" is Corbin Bernsen's real life mother. She would make a wonderful guest star as Shawn's no-non-sense grandmother who cracks the whip on both Shawn and Henry. It would be hilarious to see Henry's usual calm, strong, and in-charge demeanor shaken by his mother coming for a visit. She could give Henry a bit of the medicine that Henry has been dishing out to Shawn for so long. I know it's been done before, but I'd love to see Shawn's grandmother dote on him and glare at Henry. Maybe she could explain where Shawn's mother is?

I love Jeanne! Although I don't watch her anymore on "The Young and the Restless", she was nominated as best actress in a dramatic role during this year Daytime Emmys. She lost. Corbin at one time was on "The Young and the Restless" and I would love to see her on the show as Shawn's grandmother, Henry's mother. I just don't know if her schedule will allow it. I just hope that she does get a chance to be on the show.

Steve Franks and company stated, on some webexclusive videos( about 3 months ago) that both Shawn's Grandmother and Mother will hopefully make an appearance(at a later time). I do hope Jeanne gets the role. Supposedly they are looking for the right "Mom" for Shawn.

Those production interviews are very convenient lol. It's gonna be interesting to see how they write in Shawn's mother, didn't they say it will probably happen next season ishhh? I know they were talking and said they have episode ideas all the way into season four which makes me wanna jump up and down.

OOooooo, that'd be really cool to see how they bring Shawn's mom in the story. I know they've mentioned her in one episode(but I forgot which one it was). I've been excited to see that backstory ever since.

I totally agree! I'd love to see Jeanne Cooper on the show as "Grandma Spencer". Cybil Shepherd was an excellent choice for Shawn's Mom, now we need an "excellent Grandma"!!!!!

I was re-watching the second season today and i realized why we haven't seen Grandma Spencer ...i think that she is no longer with us.

in the flashback for the Old and the Restless Shawn and his Grandfather are sitting on the park bench and he says "Your Grandma was a lifetime of surprises"

past tense.

too bad i would have liked to have met her since, from what i can tell in the flashback, it seems that Henry must have gotten his strictness from his mom.

How can we be sure that that was Henry's father. It could have been his father-in-law. There are a lot of people that call their in-laws "mom" and "dad." Henry and Madeline were still together during the flashbacks, right?

I agree... unless it was in a flashback that pre-dates the one we already saw (which would likely make Shawn too young for the show's purposes), we won't get to see Grandma Spencer.

However, there is always the possibility of the other Grandma/Grandmother/Nana/Maw-Maw that is Shawn's maternal grandmother (as well as maternal grandfather)... I especially like to see Henry with his in-laws
